That's where atlantis (Continent) comes in - I believe one book said that the Atlanteans were a civilization ahead of it's time. Possibly carved the Nasca Lines.

    yeah, they were very interesting.
Look further into the Egytpians, and you'll find that they knew things we were just starting to "re-learn" thousands of years later. They had this vast amount of knowledge, and the *poof*, it was gone. Were did it go?
Its the same with Atlantis. What really hapened to them.

Well, I heard of a theory where there were caverns under Atlantis filled with hydrogen or something silly and explosive, and it sunk the continent in one go.

It was the big smoke monster from Lost.

Naw, actually they either died out or became taken over. Atlantis... It could have been a massive earthquake that caused it to sink underwater a long time ago. And then after awhile, their buildings and stuff broke apart from being in the water and having plantlife grow on it for hundreds of years.

i dunno, some people think it was the flood.
it could be multiple different things.

well, there was evidence of the great flood, but none of unicorns...anyone can form a religion from anything: christianity, Jesus dying on the cross; Scientology, a bet made in a pub.
Atlantis could have been an attempt at building a city on water...but until my time machines are invented, we will never know...

Actually, my old physics teacher had a time machine in his closet, as were many other things.

    DERAILED!

    B. I doubt they had religions, if the Legends are correct they were more than likely scientific. Maybe thats what put them ahead? Working things out for themselves without the fear of a God.

Exactly, that is why I don't get Christianity and other religion who believe in God. They fear God. Why? Why can't you let go your fear and live? Another thing I don't get is that some of my Christians friends told me that I am bad or a sinner because I consume alcohol. But then when I visit their church, they are given wine, dubbed Jesus' Blood. Which contain alcohol and they don't just serve it to adults, they give it to children? WTF? You know it is illegal to drink at the age of 10.

Another thing, they say that money is the root off all evil, then why churches ask for money donation? I mean, I would donate clothes, foods, and toiletry.

That is why I am glad I am Buddhist. I'm not saying that Buddhism is the way to go, but we are less strict. We are the nicest religion. We don't yell at people that they are going to hell nor try to force our religion on them. Our way, is through finding yourself, who your are, and how you feel about yourself, through chanting, meditation, and kindness.

Isn't there a difference between the chinese and the thai buddha?

Um, I don't be yelling & all of those kind of stuff that some christians be doing. All I can say is that you can find out about the tithings & the money giving to god in Matthews, Exodus I think, & Luke. We're suppose to be drunk in the spirit. Not in alcohol. If the church that you went to be drunk in alcohol instead of God's power, then you need to find a church that be drunk in God's power. If they is giving alcohol to kids, then don't go to that church & find another church that'll help you grow more in God.

I doubt that they didn't have a religion. They definetly did, all cultures do.

Your discriminating, even though I agre with much of what you've said here, your only using it to blame ALL RELIGION for these trifles of folly found in the Christian religion. I agree with a lot of wat you've stated, but I am a strong believer in God, so you can't say all religions are like that, because thats only christians.

She didn't say all religions. She just said Christianity and all the others that believe in God - which, I assume, means all underlying branches of Christianity as well as Judaism.

    ^ He not she. ^_^

I am not discriminating. I am just wondering why. I try to learn as much as I can about Christianity and other religion who believe in God, and wonder why fear something that you believe in?

I know God is loving, caring, and merciful, but why do people fear him.

Buddha told us not to fear him nor follow him. He believes that you can follow who or what ever you want. He did not force his teachings on to us. It is up to us rather we listen or not.

The difference between the two buddha, Chinese (Fat One) is merely for good luck. Brining luck to business and families, isn't the Buddha that we follow. The Thai Buddha is the one that is the real one.

Its...complicated, but you must remember that you can not blame God for the sins of Man.
BUddha knew his followers shouldn't worship him because he was just a man, so they were to treat him like a man. He was wise, but like christianity and all other religions, man has played with religion, and the Budaism today might not be the Budism Budda pictured when he founded it.
Just remember, God is always good, God is always right. Whenever God appears to be neither, then it is a fake god, or a god played with by man's interpretation.

I'm going to put out my opinion on religion. Now first off I'm not going to denounce any religion. They all have a right to be. Second I'm not going to argue my beliefs. You're welcome to talk with me but no arguing. It's a waste of time.

Now their has never been "one religion" other wise there would have never been a need to separate. I believe that "one religion" is also one way of bringing around peace. The longest practiced religion is paganism. Or Polytheism in some cases. I am an agnostic theist -please don't ask me what that is, do research-, and I do believe in a higher power. If you want to call that higher power God that's all by and well. But I don't believe he interacts with this world any farther then what he has, and what he has done is set forth a plan of evolution. As nice as the whole Adam and Eve story is it would be disgusting to think that way because ultimately that would make us all a bunch of inbreed monkeys. Something I noticed while reading the fist few pages was that a few of you went back and forth calling each other fools. That's sad. Where is your tolerance? Where is your acceptance for your 'brothers and sisters'? Something I cannot stand is when people bash others for their beliefs. You should remember to live humbly. Not because of a God, but because there is always someone out there that can teach you wrong.

And another thing that I want to ask you is why would God let Lucifer live only to rage a battle against him when he could easily destroy him without bloodshed? I believe that if there is a Hell, God is not 'all forgiving' and he did not 'kick Lucifer out of Heaven'. I'd think it would be better to say that -if you go this route- God commanded Lucifer to trick and deceive. Why? Who knows, ask Him some day. By the way Angels are not supposed to be creatures of free will like you or I so again that is where I place my beliefs. I do believe in reincarnation but at your choice. If you believe you have learned the lessons you need you may go to Paradise. If not, you go where you think you must. Now remember that you might also not be who you think you are in the afterlife. At one point or time we were probably wandering souls throughout the cosmos.

Let me see ... What else can I say?

Oh I also believe God can lie because you can't prove him wrong at this point and if you did well you wouldn't know.

Hm. Well I suppose that's all for now.

Interesting beliefs, I must say. I agree with you on some things, but I think you go a little off the tracks on a couple of other things.
reincarnation is a yes, but we don't choose to go to heaven or back to earth, thats were we are playing god, and making god's choices for him. That is wrong in my views, god makes his own descisions, and I beleve his divine judgement decides.

Also, angels have free will. Why wouldn't they? God wouldn't create something so robotic like.

Again, why would god destroy the creation he once loved? This is were his mercy comes in, he would rather teach his disloyal sons a lesson then destroy them. To me, that is just.
The whole "Why? GO ask him someday" answers, yea, I hate those kinda answers. They just sound kinda not well thought out answers, its like a default answer that you think you can run to when you don't know the real answer. I know I should be humble, but that is kinda dumb.
And God can't lie if he's perfect.
And if you really think God lies, than you aren't worshipping/loving the right God, your worshippig/loving Satan, for he is King of lies.
