Well I'm currently looking for a job (first job ever).

So I wanted to hear all your experiences with jobs. If you've never had one what job you would probably go for as your first job. And if you have had one, what was your first job? Was it hard, if you've had many jobs what was your favourite?

Ok for food industries or any retail industries such as Hollister and Abercombie, if you pretty and hot, you are up front, i.e. cashiers or floor, but if you ugly or unattractive then you are in the back, or flipping burgers, or folding clothes. Trust me, they do discriminate.

They have to hire anyone who is qualified now, doesn't matter if they aren't model material.

I remember that I was bagging groceries at IGA for my Beta Club points & they did paid me regardless if I had volunteered. Do you have a Family Video in your area or state? If you do, I recommend working there. I also consider working in a hospital like St. Marian hospital. Oh yea, -_- You most likely don't want to work at Dominoes now that the news a month ago had showed the USA about two people farting & putting boogers on the pizza. Just gross me out that flipping burgers is most definitely might not be an option. If you have a Blockbuster in your area, work there.

Well I don't got a job, but I do know the best way to look for one because currently I'm searching.

So many job places if you are good will give you college money, I know McDonalds, Chick fil A and some other places do as well. So look into something like that. Also search for a job if say you got to do a school function they'll let you do it without vacation. So far the only place for me has been Chick fil A, but I also know the manager :p

Do jobs give out scholarships? If they do, then find one.

SB you just said the samething I said in the post before you. This is like the 5 millionth time you done that to me, 1billionth time to anyone. You need to stop that.

Besides the whole money and stuff find a fun job. You like painting and all how about painting and all and sell your art work, or you can work at home setting up a website where people pay you for graphics made, plus having advertisement up, evertime somone clicks on an ad the owner makes money.

Too add to that, make sure that it works with what you do at school too,as in dont put in alot of hours and not be able to do what you do at school, need to keep up with your homework and stuff. But that is during school,of course.

Yea. Um, stop trying to use big numbers because that's not helping, I hardly do that, & from rereading your post, college money didn't click in my head & scholarship do. Anyways, for me to also top this up, make sure that the job you pick is good, that it is the job that you really want, that the job is nice, it goes good along with your schedule, & it's something that you really want to enjoy. You should also be ready for an interview, just in case if they do want to have one with you, because they do that sometimes from where I live at. Since you is in the age group for teens to work, I want to add something else into the school thing now that Dualblade added it up.

Make sure that you do real good in school & be real involve with school activities. That's what matters to the others. Make sure that you keep yourself a clean record & when you go to find a job, make sure that you have everything needed to have the people be able to work & no, this is my own words to add something to what Dualblade had said.

very truely said, since i never participated much in school with the activitys i have barely anything to put down in a job application thing. If your still young, i would recommend getting involved more with community stuff and going to random workshops. I think i may apply for an art workshop soonish.

Oh yea. One more thing. Make sure that you really have the talent for it. If the job wants something from you that you don't have or you don't understand, improve on it or look up on that information that the job wants from you.

nooooooo! do not get one at mcdonalds. it might be easier but trust me you don't want to get a job there. they give somewhat crappy hours and it's really not worth it (in my opinion)

i actually just got my first job at kmart. i'm getting like 30 hrs a week for the summer at least.

my opinion for a first job try looking for one at like a clothing store or grocery store haha

Create a resume. -Don't know how? Look it up.- Hand it in to them and ask them for an application. Ask them if you fill it out there or if you could fill it out at home and bring it back. If they say there then you best be ready. Means you need to have contact info, Social Security card, previous employer addresses and employers -but not if you were fired from the job!-. You should also be well groomed for when you go in. Look presentable and not over dressed. If you sake someone's hand it's three quick firm shakes -might want to practice with a parent or someone with exp. in getting jobs-. Never go with a friend -makes you look bad- or family at your side and if you do make sure they go else where in the store. Be calm and relaxed if you're uneasy they'll know. Just do what comes natural. Try and show a warm and kind personality if you're going for a job that deals with customers a lot, such as checker at a grocery store. During interviews, do not sit unless instructed to!

    Hope that helps.

Not true, since I am totally model material and I'm jobless xD

    Just kidding :p

But on a serious note, work is impossible to find here, because of the recession. I've asked around and no where has positions.

I know how you feel. I've been trying to get a job for half a year now. Heck, today I went to at least 10 different places.

What he meant was that if you're hired, you're positioned to some part based on your looks.
