Yea. I've read the verses that you told me but I think those verses meant something else. I mean, look at a maid or a butler for an example. They work in the mansion to do the works that the owner of the house wouldn't able to some of the things while working. They may wanted to do this to actually get some money until they are able to stand up on their own feet or until retirement. Slavery in modern was just abusing people & to actually whip people (Also did that in Egypt but God freed his people from that.) Slavery for people to work under their owners in God's name is actually different.

"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property." (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

Well, I know with my maids and butlers, I'm allowed to beat them almost to death with a rod whenever I feel like it. No, wait, that sounds almost the same as a modern slaveowner whipping his slaves, doesn't it? But God gives the okay, as long as they don't die right away from their injuries.

That's actually BS, God never intended for that sort of suffering. People rewrite the bibles all the time to fit the perspectives and the practices of elite.

God wants everyone to love each other and not do stupid shit where we end up killing each other.
    Screw everything else.

ok new topic that i thought would be good, Islam, The Islam Religion thinks that the Jews and Christians religion is the same as there's but they go more in dept on what's happening to the world or how it's going to end. But if that's so, if Islam is mostly the same because they also believe in Moses and Abraham like Jewish and Christianity, then maybe some or most religions are the same just a tiny bit different cuz they say they relive Allah is the same god as Christians and Jews or Jehovah witness, and another i forgot. so maybe there is only one god, just people split the religions or got the story's wrong.

. . . . Do you ever read what you type?

    Anyways YOU ARE WRONG SIR!

Islam is an Abrahamic faith - one of many based on Abraham's forerunners and sons. However, it is FAR DIFFERENT! Completely different book (Written all in musical verse, I might add.). Jesus is in there, but Mary never had a husband. Mary had to strive to live on her own, amidst the social hatred of the "scandal" that she got pregnant without a husband (= Prostitute, for those of you who cannot read.). There was another prophet as well - Mohammed (Muhammed?), and he is the last of the prophets. And JESUS DID NOT DIE FOR MAN'S SINS IN THIS! He was rescued by the angels and replaced with a double at the last minute. Also, it describes blow for blow the account of the Messiah versus the Antichrist.

For the love of god, DO NOT SAY THAT THEY ARE BASICALLY THE SAME!

Which is why I don't believe it when people try to use the Bible to explain away their prejudices towards others. Not to mention that people selectively read to find what they want to believe.

Do I honestly think that a benevolent, omnipotent, etc, God, would condone slavery? No. What I was really replying to is summonerBWM's attempt to explain away what was written. Regardless of who wrote them, I don't see how you can try to pass those passages off as being in reference to a work arrangement such as between a homeowner and a maid. Meh.

Re: Islam and Christianity: I found some comparison charts that might help. I wouldn't say that the two religions are the same at all.

Didn't say that they were the same but alike is what i'm saying, the story's are different and so is there history but not alot, well maybe alot, but they say they believe that they all have the same god that's what I'm saying.

Just having belief in one god isn't enough to say that two religions are "mostly the same". Islam and Christianity seem to disagree on some pretty major points.

still they have there opinions like everyone but they have agreed that the god they believe in is the same, so maybe there is only one god, and all religions is that same god but parts of him or just different stories of the same god but mixed up with someone's six cents.

You have it backwards. The fallen angels legend applies spiritually (I believe) due to how we got into hell in the first place. Like more to explain on the story of our ACTUAL souls. Aliens have a lot to do with religion as a whole. Because religion is created to do what Toph? Create a flock. Create a social network of cooperation/obedience to one/multiple heads of power. If not a supreme dogmatic religion like back in the very early B.C.'s that would just oppress people and FORCE them to believe in that religion. So, wats the point? Well, people want to control eachother. But if everyone (like in the beginning of time) is just as stupid as the other, then how did we get the idea of classical conditioning to control populous? Observational Learning. Its a bit of pyschology really, applied in the field of history. Because I dont believe evolution just "occurs", theres always a spark, like someone knocking down that first domino to get the rest going. As far as the human race goes, I believe aliens are the key to that pyschological evolution that took place. And religion was one of their greatest tools to control us. Making us think they wer gods. Because they had the technology to do it. They could perform "magic", and "miracles" with their advanced technology. It says in the Bible that the angels layed with the daughters of Eve, and they bore children whom were great giants that were called the Nephilum. This is why god caused the flood. The Book of Enoch explains this all in more depth. Thats why its hard not to believe in aliens after reading the book of enoch.

    slay you? (weirdo)

you do love pulling things out of your ***. lol, Islam is smiliar, yet different, to other branches off of the Bible and Biblical tales/myths/books.

Moog is right for the most part. Islam is different, yet similiar. Same background, but both grew up to be different things.

    Very VERY true.

not major, but the minor details. Its like a couple, they both want to order pizza but they want different toppings.

I sat and read a chunk of the Book of Enoch online earlier (yeah, I'm pretty bored on my days off), although I did end up having to go somewhere before I finished it. All I'll say about it is that what I read didn't shout "Aliens exist!" at me. I suppose I'm just not following your thought process here. >_<

Hmm, I can see that, I suppose. Although I do think that some of the disagreements seem a little more important than pepperoni versus extra cheese.

no, i dont think the fallen angels are gods, or aliens are gods, i think the real god is something beyond us and this world. We might never understand him. Or we might. But the more feel emotion, the more we feel pain, suffering, love, hate, and emotion, the closer we get to him.

lol, you get waht i was saying though.
And i guess it just involves research, if you've read certai things that come up in research then sometimes things just click and you get some "great idea" that you believe in and then you want to tell everyone else, but they wont understand it becu they dont know what you know. So its all confusing, but w/e, I believe in it and i think history, psychological evolution, and logic can proove most of it.

You know ppl do say that god just lets us live out are death lives cuz he hates us and that's why he wont help. And most religions are alike in a very similar way. the biggest of cousre is they all believe in god. but what about polytheism?

  16. Mythril Roxas

its possible that there are more than one god, but not likely unless god is a force that acts through different principles. Like if god IS electricity for instance. electricity is used for multiple purposes, and has many different principles and forms, but it is all the same being with the same consciousness. Thats just an example. but i do not realy believe in polytheism.

I don't see why there being more than one god is so controversial? It's just like saying one god split himself into multiple forms so others could more easily understand. Frankly when people get all into a huff about there being a one and only one god I find that narrow minded. Some people just can't wrap their minds around the idea of one supreme ultimate being controlling (or influencing) the events of life.

Which makes me wonder why Christians (or was it Catholics?) went through all the trouble of persecuting Pagan worshipers. Though obvious reasons come to mind. It's really saddening to know that people (even today) are hated for different beliefs in god (or the lack thereof one).

If I remember correctly, the Japanese had a system called the 99 spirits (I'm most likely mistaken. If someone could correct me and provide a source I'd be awful grateful). It might be a part of Shintoism. It's the belief that everything in our world has a spirit of some sort. Everything from the floor you walk on to the sky above. It's a real interesting concept.

Also, for any Buddhists, I'm currently looking into learning Rinzai Zen but I have no place to practice or learn from and I doubt reading a book from my local library is going to do me any real good. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Anyone interested in carrying out some more Polytheistic debates?

... Actually that's not true. Christianity has been apart of the Japanese culture for quite some time now. Give me a moment and I'll find statistics for you.
