Activiy Lacking- Any Ideas?

    So I don't know if anyone else other than I have noticed, the activity in the RP'ing forum is really lacking. Sure a lot of members who used to RP aren't as active as they used to be, but due to that I feel everyone else is letting the rest of the RP forum to die.

    So any ideas to make it more active, anything such as competitions, RP'ing school, anything?

    Maybe an official community RP? Community projects work from the game dev community I come from. Perhaps that sort of idea could work here.

    I could always try to organize another tournament. But no one really visits the arena. Other than that, I would be inclined to make something outside of my current 'song based' RP, something that might be a bit easier to follow along with. Not sure what to do though. I'd say that a part of the problem is that there aren't that many RP regulars around here. Recruit I say!!

    Community RP? A RP to get everyone involved in? Sounds interesting.

    As for tortument, I'd be interested in it. But the whole RP Arena sort of died being no judges and no official rules for that area.

    I can get a set of rules worked up for that. it's really not all that different from normal RPs. It's just done on a more competitive scale. And as for judges, well, we had 'em, until Moogle left for a bit, and Zerieth departed to start up his sinking ship of a site.

    Just make it more strait forward. I don't know whether to make a profile for an Rp or not sometimes. The profile set up itself is a little confusing. But, yeah, I like the community RP idea.

    Okay, I'm up for the Rp with everyone included in it.
    But, this also might be a harsh idea. There may be some people who
    won't be able to reply as their turn and the Rp might go too fast on some
    people.

    I'm currently in the process of writing up an Arena Guide. It'll cover the basic expectations of the section, as well as general rules and the like. Hopefully that can start to see some more action with a set of rules. And I think I've got an RP in mind that could be used as a community one.

    Well, it's not confusing, per say. I just haven't RPed on a forum where you just can't take a profile skeleton and just put it in the OOC or he RP itself.

    That is what you do. The profile just works as a stock of your characters.




    EDIT- If you ever need help trying to figure out anything in RP, then just PM/VM one of the RP Mods, even I'm willing to help you out.

    It sounds like what you find a bit confusing is that the there's a bit more to the RPs here. Maybe it's just the more structured plots. I've RP sections where there really aren't plots given. Just character sheets posted and everyone sort of runs around without any real restrictions. More of a free roam sort of thing.

    Just a thought, but we could do a mash-up RP of two series, let's say in example, Naruto vs. Kingdom Hearts -> with good plotline it would gather some people, maybe.

    Not sure thought that would it be a good idea if we would do own characters or use the old ones; or would it be a good idea in the first place.

    Alright so we have everything straighten out, here's what we have as ideas so far...

    Community RP- A RP to try and get everyone involved in. Story of it is unknown(If someone has an idea PM/VM me/ Dawn)

    RP Arena Re-Opened- I'll have to talk to Kairu, Icarus, and Moogle. I'm sure they'd be up for it though.

    Double RP Combo- A RP with two great canon shows combined, this has been tried in the past but with many, many, many different shows and movies. (If anyone has an idea PM/VM me/Dawn)





    Alright any other ideas? I know in the other thread someone mentioned a RP'ing school, for the summer season I may be able to whip up some sort of school since Overdose and U's school sort of failed, but maybe we can get something going, RP tutoring service I don't know.

    Any other ideas though? We really need them people!

    1. I may be on track towards a community RP or two. Though I think it'll be difficult to actually get the entire RP community involved, seeing as there HAS been a lot of inactivity.

    2. As I've said, I am in the process of putting together a set of guidelines and whatnot for the arena subsection. I can't really give a definite time frame, but I aim to be able to finish for next week.

    3. I'd rather see an RP made out of a series that maybe hasn't seen much action in an RP setting. I can say right now that I've always wanted to be part of an Outlaw Star based RP. But no one really makes such things.

    Anyways, a community RP will take a lot of effort here. I've been in. . . three so far, and I (pessimistically) think that the members here generally do not have what it takes. But by all means, prove me wrong.

    Personally, I don't like Combo RPs. They just don't work for me. If it was something like Ultimate Dissidia, then maybe I'd be interested. But, other than those, I find it hard to contextually link the two series in question.

    And I'd totally be up to doing the RP arena, if people actually posted there.
