We need a current thread about this. ^_^

Anyone else a fan? I almost don't count myself as one, since I'm such a complete noob, but after seeing the six movies, I'm sad that I never watched them sooner.

If I were to rank them from favorite to least favorite, I think my list would go

    The Empire Strikes Back
    A New Hope
    Revenge of the Sith
    Return of the Jedi

    The Phantom Menace

and way down here times infinity...

    Attack of the Clones.

    ---
So, what are your thoughts on it all? Have a favorite movie or character you wanna share?

They've come out with books and games and stuff, right? Any of that stuff worth looking into?

    Discuss!

My favorite Star Wars movie would have to be Return of the Jedi.

The Phantom Menace is amazing. It was one of the first movies I watched in the cinema.

I wonder why Phantom Menace is one of the less popular ones. Sure, I haven't seen it in years, but I don't remember it being a bad movie.

As for all the other stuff, the books and games and whatnot, I suppose it depends on how much of a fan you are. I've heard about the uber-hardcore fans who only watch the original trilogy and only the original cut of them. Solo shot Greedo first.

I liked the Attack of the Clones the best! I felt like it had the most action, and it was the first movie I ever saw in the theater.

I don't see why so many people don't like the movies in the new trilogy. Granted, they also spawned that god-awful CG series, but they weren't terrible. Mine is the Revenge of the Sith, mainly because it gets what I've always wanted: An epic series of dogfights in a huge space battle.

But if I had the choice, I would pick the animated (Cartoon, not CG) series. That was everything Star Wars was and should be.

Expectations I think. It had been years since the original trilogy,so hearing that a new one was coming out, people expected a lot of it.I still liked the movie myself,Qui-Gon Jinn is my favorite character.

The reason I bumped it down a bit on my list was solely because of Jar Jar Binks. All of his scenes were just bad, and it seems Lucas included him in just about every scene he could conceivably stick him in. In smaller doses, he still would've been annoying, but it wouldn't have bothered me as much. But even in spite of him, I thought it was a pretty good movie.

Even Attack of the Clones was an okay movie to me- I liked the story and the action was good, and all that. It's just the whole Padme/Anakin romance was creepy to me, not romantic (as I think it was intended to be), and Anakin's whining made him pretty unlikable a lot of the time. Taking that into account and comparing it to the rest of the movies, AotC just falls short.

I don't understand it either. I dunno, maybe I'm easy to please, but I thought they were all at the least decent movies, though some are better than others. And I like the added meaning they give the originals. I mean, the Obi-Wan/Vader duel in A New Hope seems so much more important after you really know what happened the last time the two had fought, and then when you see the two standing together at the end of Return of the Jedi and it's like all is forgiven, it makes me happy. Er, yeah.

Qui-Gon is awesome. Definitely one of my favorite characters, though for me, the top spot goes to Han Solo. ^_^

And then Darth and Droids made Jar Jar Binks atleast an ok character.

i myself never had much of a problem with him.I think I just tolerate Scrappies more.

i liked all the movies myself. i mean im not i die hard fan, but i have seen the original of the old ones. Han solo next to Qui-Gon is a tie to me, but Fett, Boba kills them all. I dont care but im all for the bounty hunters and in the books, there much cooler than on the movies. but i liked revenge of the sith, i remember goin to see it, ppl brought light sabers dressed up as vader, it was crazy, during the yoda fight, everybody was goin crazy, i havent been in a hype movie like that till the karate kid.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

clones was my favorite, always awesome to see Yoda go ninja and fight Dooku.

and i'm also a major nerd of the series.

but if you want to talk Star Wars, look up The Storm. dude can recite every bodies bio off the top of his head without missing a single detail. biggest Wars fan i know.

People were hyped like that for The Karate Kid? o_O

I wonder if the age you were the first time you saw The Phantom Menace has anything to do with it, also. I think perhaps the younger you are, the more inclined you may be to tolerate Jar Jar. Personally, I found him somewhat racist as well as just annoying in general, and I was really hoping he'd die in some painful way.

I agree that was pretty epic. And it's always awesome to see Christopher Lee. Wish we could've gotten to see a bit more of him.

I think I was round 8 or so.Age probably does factor in.Plus, the guy was kinda an idiot, and is probably less acting racist and more stereotypical...based on what we know of Gungans atleast.Who knows,I might not like him as much now,it has been a while since I saw the movie.Though Qui-Gon still kicks ass.As does Maul.Lightstaffs rule.

Naboo ships do look wierd.Maybe they were ment more for underwater travel and were refitted for space?

I was surprised for that too, but i went the day it came out.

I agree with that Darth Maul was cool, i loved his light saber staff. To me he was one of the coolest dark siders myself. I gotta say that i loved it when ever yoda fought, which was only twice. i kinda like naboo ships i think underwater myself too. Who agrees that one of the coolest things about Star wars was the Chewys and Chewbacca.

    Inconceivable!

But, seriously, that kinda proves my point, I think. If you saw The Phantom Menace in theaters in '99, you were around 6 years old. Given that Jar Jar was targeted towards children, it makes sense that you would have loved him at the time. And now, nostalgia perhaps keeps him a pleasant memory?

Agreed. We should've gotten to see more of him, too.

I think there were far more badass characters in this series than lame ones. I think Jar Jar, C-3PO, and Anakin (in some of his scenes) were the only characters who really annoyed me. Out of six movies, that aint too bad.

Chewbacca was surprisingly cool. I didn't expect to like him, but I did.

My favorite was Empire Strikes Back no doubt, it had my favorite quotes.

"Great warrior? Ohh hehehe. Wars not make one great heh." -Yoda

I didn't like the new movies as much but I don't hate them like many people say they do. They had some things that I liked such as Darth Maul, The song playing when they fight Maul, Christopher Lee as Dooku, Jango Fett showing us what Boba Fett was capable of (Since Boba never got much of a chance to show off).

My favorite fight scene was when Luke attacks Vader right before he chops off his hand. You could see all the emotion in the scene and the low music playing in the background fit perfectly.

As for th fight scenes in the new movies. Some of them just seemed like too much. The Darth Maul fight was cool but they overdid it with all the acrobatics in Revenge of the Sith.

King of Darkness What up Monica

Since I'm new-school, Revenge of the Sith was my favorite. My top two characters have to be Maul and Vader. And I agree with Azula about the acrobatics. Me and my friends always said that if Anakin never did that final flip he would have beaten Kenobi.

P.S. First time I saw Empire Strikes Back, Yode scared the hell out of me and at the same time made me lol. Hey, he looked real when I was younger

I agree to a point. In all three of the prequels, actually, there were times when people would spin around and shit and I couldn't help thinking they were just leaving themselves open to get a hand chopped off or something. But in the older movies, it sometimes felt like the fighting could use a little more oomph- specifically, the Obi-Wan/Vader duel in A New Hope was a little underwhelming. Somewhere in the middle would've been perfect.

    Agreed.

And speaking of the music, gotta give props to John Williams. His scores are genius.
