Well, I've been a huge Harry Potter fan for years, but only recently started getting interested in the movies again. But I definitely want to check out HP and the Deathly Hallows when it's released. It looks awesome, so far. Anyone else going to see it?

Here's a new TV spot if anyone is interested.

At 0:21, you can see the ghost of Dumbledore from Grimmauld Place. XD

I found the book version of Deathly Hallows disappointing (it's probably the one I'm least likely to reread), but the movie looks epic. I'm hoping it lives up to the trailer, unlike some other movies I've seen recently.

Lol, and I even said when it appears.

I have low hopes for this. By this, I mean that I'm not hoping for too much except that its better than its previous four/five counterparts.

Woooow. The two of you don't have good imaginations I guess.

    I'd be satisfied with that.

Or we're just realistic. The last movie I saw that had freakin' epic tv spots and trailers was The Last Airbender. And even though I liked it despite the many flaws, I think we can all say it was nowhere near the level of awesome it should have been. This could follow the same path.

I'm guessing because of the body count?

I'm certain it'll be better than movie 6. After all, Half Blood Prince seemed to cut out nearly the last quarter of the book.

Originally, I thought that splitting Deathly Hallows into 2 parts was a really stupid idea, only to make more money. Then I thought that they might actually keep up with the book, splitting it across two movies. But then I heard where the first part ends (About 3/4 through the book), and now figure they're gonna skip alot of things. In case anybody is wondering where the first part will end, it is *spoiler*Voldermort's attack on Hogwarts*spoiler*

Oh, and a friend of mine once told me rumor about the director wanting to add a Harry/Hermoine sex scene, him being a Harry/Hermoine shipper and all.

Wait, you know, that doesn't make much sense at all. How the hell would they split it into two movies when the assault on hogwarts was practically the end of the book?

No, actually, though there were deaths that I felt were just brushed upon and not given the attention they deserved, and some that I thought were just put in for the hell of it. Really my problem with it was that it felt like a massive fanfic. A lot of the things that made it into the novel were things I'd read on boards or in fanfics and scoffed at. And the epilogue was beyond cheesy and had some horribly named characters.

I've heard that there actually is a scene somewhat like this, though don't hold me to it, because I can't remember where I heard it and it could be (probably is) bullshit. It was when Ron is supposed to be destroying the locket horcrux, and he sees images of Harry and Hermione taunting him and kissing and such. Supposedly in the movie, when the two kiss for the scene, they're topless.

RE: Split of the two movies- I'd heard it was when [SPOILERS] Voldemort gets his hands on the Elder Wand. [/SPOILERS] If it's at the spot that you say, it seems like it would rush a whole lot into the first movie, and leave the second just nonstop action.

And like Dunmbledore and voldemort aren't horrible names?

I personally thought the book's ending was cute.

  11. GrandShadow

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

the ending of the book was fine, though the epilogue sucked.

and i hope they aren't topless, personally that would realy suck.

and finally i hope that movie 1 ends with V getting the Elder wand. seems like the perfect place to end 1 and pick up 2

No, not like the mouthful of Albus Severus Potter (ugh) or the general fact that none of Harry's kids have original names. JKR always seemed to come up with interesting names, no matter where she found/invented them. So the names of the next generation were pretty disappointing to me.

I thought the epilogue was too sweet. I also never liked the idea of a "happily ever after" ending. Of course, this is my own opinion.

To bring this back on topic, I understand the kids are going to be playing their older selves in the film epilogue. Supposedly they're using the same aging techniques that were used in the Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

A preview article in Entertainment Weekly confirms this. Scan of Article

I think where I'd read this was from a review of a prescreening of the movie. But the person who wrote it might not have actually seen the movie, and even if he did and that was in there, they could always change it before the release. I'm looking to see if I can find that review, or another source to confirm or deny it.

EDIT: Found the review mentioning the topless scene (aIthough this isn't the site I originally found it at): Link
Another reviewer on the same site made a comment about Harry/Hermione shippers having their day, which would at least point to it being a passionate moment.

I mean, I would like to see it but not sure if I'm going to take the time to go theatres and whatnot. They did pretty much slaughter all previous movies, except the first one wasn't bad and followed a lot more of the story than the rest. Loved the books tho, including Deathly Hollows was really good. Dang...think its about time to reread the whole series, oh how it has been a while...

I thought I'd let everyone know- I heard on the radio this morning that Warner Bros has decided that DH Part 1 will NOT be in 3D. They said that there wasn't enough time to do it properly.

And all I have to say is, god bless 'em for that. I wasn't planning on seeing it in 3D anyway, so this isn't a disappointment for me, and I can only hope that other studios will start following WB's example and only do the 3D when they can devote the money and time to make it actually enhance the experience.

I also found some epilogue pictures online (you can google 'em if interested). The actors look a little "meh" with the aging makeup on, but I'm thinking it'll be touched up for the actual movie and turn out better.

What would be the benefit of even having the movie in 3D? We have waited and waited for about three years I think. Shouldn't have to wait any longer for a "Feel effect".

For the studio, that extra $3+ per ticket is a pretty big benefit. And I'll admit the magic would look cool in 3D, if 3D in general didn't make me feel sick. I'm really surprised that they decided not to finish converting it.

Here's a source that is a bit more legit than my "I heard it on the radio"- Source

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

but what about Part 2? will it be 3D?
i think there's a very good chance that we'll be seeing a 2D and 3D version of that one.

I doubt it. If they are not making the first part 3D, then it is most likely that they might not try to do it for the second part due to time consumption.

Considering that time is the one factor (presumably) that prevented part 1 from being shown in 3D, I believe it is a high possibility for part 2 to be in 3D. They have over half a year, if I recall the dates correctly.
