Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Was it really necessary

Kingdom Hearts Birth by sleep wasn't a necessary part of Kingdom Hearts Past does it really matter why Sora got the keyblade its a pointless chapter. The game was fun ,but i don't think it was a big point.

Blade Heroes Have One or Two

Well, it explains Xehanort. That's a pretty big deal.

It lays the foundation for all the other games. It was kinda necessary.

it wasn't that big like kingdom hearts 358/2 and Coded

If anything, 358/2 would be the least necessary of the bunch. Other than developing the Org's characters a little more, it hardly did anything but introduce an expendable character who hasn't made an appearance since.

    I know nothing about Coded.

Please, if you are going to blaspheme an awesome-looking game, provide evidence.

oh no you did not just insult my favorite game! lol JK, but for reals I think this game was definitely necessary, you need to know the what happened in the past in order to get the whole story of the game, plus I don't think Nomura would tell the story of the past if it didn't have something to do with the future, like the secret ending of BBS, that is DEFINITELY a preview of things to come in future KH games so this has been the most necessary game in the KH series since Kingdom Hearts 2!

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

i agree with Requiem that if anything 358 was least needed. all the side games though do have an important purpose.

CoM/ReCom explains what happened to Sora between 1 & 2, also a little bit of what happened to Riku and Mickey. it also introduces Org.13 and Nobodies, but doesn't go into detail to make it have more of an impression in KH2.

358 explained Roxas and the motives of Org.13 a little more than KH2 did. it also gives us a valid reason for two keyblades other than 'hey, it's awesome'. it also finishes explaining what happened to Riku

Coded/ReCoded explains the letter at the end of KH2 and sets the stage for 3

BBS explains everything about WHY KH1 happened. how the disney villains came to discover Kingdom Hearts, how Sora and Riku got keyblades, even why Kairi can use Riku's in KH2 despite keyblades going back to their owner when someone else owns them. it also gives us the backstory to Org.13, answers why Roxas doesn't look exactly Sora like other nobodies and their somebodies. and finally it has that great secret movie at the end that taunts us with even more of a setting for KH3. oh yeah, and like Blade said, it explains Xehanort the mastermind of evil in the KH series.

VentusSearcher Steam is the only way....

358/2 was pointless in my eyes! It was fun and all but we already know what happened, exept for the stuff about Xion!
BBS is the best game in the series so far in my eyes! It developed a lot of back story. Sora and riku with how they get there keyblades, how Xemnas and Ansem came to be!
It also gave Square time to expiriment with a new gameplay machanic, and guess what, that experiment was a HUGE success!

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

Birth by Sleep sets the stage as to how Kairi can even wield a keyblade . The game also show that she and Aqua were able to have the Destiny Place keyblade come into being. The game also sets the stage as to how even Braig was able to know that there were other keyblade warriors before Sora.

Wisdom has also been applied as to how Xehanort has came into being. Without this game, we won't be able to know that there were still heartless around that time, the originality of the princesses of hearts and the first attempt of Maleficent wanting to rule all worlds. We can also see the events at Disney Castle and how Pete's prank end up having Queen Minnie to banish him (I wish that I can see her use magic on his flubber self.).

Birth by Sleep is also the sole original of how everything begins new. It gives more insight on the realm of light and darkness. We can also see what the Disney Villians were doing before they met Maleficent.

  12. I some what agree to what you are saying but than again KH BBS is a major part of the story but was it really needed it for the timeline or what.

yes, without this game I would still be confused on the origins of Xehanort, like I know from KH 1 and 2 that his was Ansem the Wise's apprentice that betrayed him and all that other complicated stuff, but you never fully understand why or where did Xehanort come from unless you play BBS also it sets the stage for any future KH games to come with the secret ending, which I won't go into much detail about just in case not everyone has gotten to that point in the game yet. :)

  14. Well all we needed was KH1,CoM,358/2 days, and Kh2 but then KHbbs shows a part of the timeline that shouldn't exist

Five years from now if the company didn't create the game; all of us would be complaining that the games sucks because there were no "ground floor" to show how everything actually started.

  16. i still think khbbs was a waste of time. Why didn't they make kh3 instead of KHBBS

<.> because BBS help answer almost all of the questions that wasn't answered. It is not even a waste of time. One example is that why Riku even have a keyblade to give to Kairi in the first place or where he even obtained it. Another example is who Xehanort truly is and why Xion even looked like someone else (Ventus) to some of the organization members. We don't even know how King Mickey truly became a keyblader or what he really know. BBS just shows that he knew about Kairi for a long time and maybe vice versa (If Kairi didn't lose her memory of that from being so young.)

basically if Square Enix were to come out with KH3 before they came out with BBS sure we would be able to play it and maybe enjoy it, but story wise we would be lost as hell because we would have no idea what a Keyblade war is or a X-blade or who the hell Terra Ven and Aqua are, so saying that BBS was a waste is just not correct at all

  19. well i can't argue over that statement

Because they can make more money by making more games.
