My rant about KH2

It's Beast's Castle. Xaldin. Why Square why? You could've easily used Gaston as the final boss of that world. And he would have had more relevence to the world. And to the game as well. Seriously? Who wouldn't want to kick the crap out of Gaston. And here's why he would've worked

-In terms of the story, he could've turned into a Heartless due to his jealousy over Beast
-With him turning into a heartless, he would've gained magic like Scar did
-I'm pretty sure his voice actor would've reprised his role
-It would be easier than Xaldin but not too easy
    -Gaston>Xaldin

BUT WHAT DO SE DO? They finish the Beast's story by during the credits making him return to human when his story could've been extended to contain Gaston. Damned Square Enix!

...I don't think just covering Beast's Castle means that this is a rant about KH2.

Not that I disagree that the Organization villains in the game were somewhat horrendous.

I didn't mind this levels ending. I do mind that this doesn't seem more like a discussion so much as a statement. I think this goes in general, but I'm not a mod so what do I know? oO

I suppose it was easier not to introduce another character and just use Beast as the sort of confused bad guy instigated by Xaldin. Having both in that role would have been overkill. While playing the game, I never thought about Gaston (guess that makes me a bad Beauty and the Beast fan), but now, thinking about it, I think it would have made the story better to pull more from the movie and have him as the antagonist. My- what a guy, that Gaston!

Xaldin was interesting to fight, but not really a memorable villain.

The worst part of the entire movie, what with the broken Aesop and the absolutely hideous human form the Beast takes on. And I would have liked to see that level return in a later game, but there's not really anywhere to go from that point.

It refers only to a level in KH II, so I think it's more appropriate here.

I honestly thought all of the Organization members weren't rememberable antagonists at all.

What did they do really? Just betray each other and tease Sora? They really don't have an interesting motive (just wanting to get hearts so they could be whole). I'd rather have the fun of having the Disney villains rule the show, like in KH1 how Maleficent sent a whole batch of them after Sora, each with a cunning plan in their homeworlds. To me, the Organization was nothing but boring and stale characters that just got in my way and interrupted the storyline.

I think they could have been better, but I think the writing as a whole was more poorly done in KH II. None of the worlds really fit together well, and Sora just kinda went here and there, sometimes with a reason, solved the world's problem for them, and then we got a "Oh, by the way, Organization XIII was here mucking things up." I never really got the sense that they were evil or menacing, or even that they really needed to be stopped, so some of the time, when Sora was fighting them, it almost seemed like Sora was the one picking on them.

I'd rather have this, too. The Disney villains just do it so much better. Which is why Gaston would have been a welcome addition to Beast's Castle. :p Well, here's hoping for KH III.

Perhaps we could adapt this thread into an all-purpose KH II rant? I think we'd find plenty to talk about.

I think that's a good idea, since I really disliked KH II's direction for the franchise in general.

I think the Organization was fine in CoM (after all, it was a spin-off), but having them do their things in Disney worlds kind of threw me off. This is supposed to be a Disney world, let the respectful villain run amok there. Hades has more personality and such out-going dialogue that I don't want him replaced with a childish Organization member.

It almost seems like Square's just pushing Disney out of the franchise. Disney's not the main focus anymore besides the characters and homeworlds. I want the Disney side to step up and do more. I DO NOT want Square screwing this up FFX-2 style. =P

Personally I liked the organization guys. They did have their own deeper plot that kinda ran alongside Sora's. And everything came together when you reached TWTNW. It was all hints, and it set the stage for the final fight. Also the battles were quite interesting and unique in their own ways.

I wish that we could have fought the enchantress. THAT WOULD MAKE MY DAY!

    Okay let's do that

Perhaps it would have been cool, but ultimately it would have made no sense. Why would the enchantress try to stop the Beast from becoming human again? Her whole purpose for turning him into a beast was so that he could BECOME human, both inside and out. However, that's going into a COMPLETELY different ball game.

Maybe the Enchantress would be the boss to test the Beast's heart to see if he truly is worthy to become a human along with the others.

Uuuuh, I doubt beating the crap out of the Enchantress would prove that the Beast is human.

The enchantress tested his heart by turning him into a beast in the first place. Once she did that, her part in the story is done. It's up to the beast himself to mend his ways and make someone fall in love with him. Having the enchantress as a boss doesn't make very much sense.

Also, in the Disney version, she has no personality whatsoever (she didn't even have any speaking lines, if I'm remembering correctly). It'd be more time efficient to use an already developed character whom we already have an attachment for, like Gaston.

Actually, a lot of people I know wanted the Enchantress over Xaldin, and nearly none of my nerdy crew said "Gaston". No idea why. Perhaps people like more obscure characters to be bosses, like Chernabog in KH1.

Am I the only one who never even thought about the Enchantress before this thread was made?

Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film, always has been and probably always always will be. I did wonder why Gaston was never in it, maybe because even though the Beast 'defeats' him, he still manages to stab him in the back...

It would be nice to havesome obscured bosses. The Enchantress would have been a nice one to fight. I think thatwe had another obscured boss in KH2 but I can't seem to remember.

Mulan and Tron are the two movies that everybody seems to forget. A lot of fans ergo think Shan-Yu and MCP were "random" bosses. >.<
