-_- How in the world can chainsaws rip a hole in time? Shouldn't chainsaws be Jason related?

If you ask me, Kingdom Hearts would be nothing without Disney. Abit harsh, I know, but the only reason why I became interested in KH was because of Disney, it's like jumping back in time about 7 years ago, watching Disney films everyday, that's what interested me. And because of KH, I became interested in FF...

Uh, use your imagination. Giant keys aren't exactly the first weapon someone would think of, either, yet somehow it works.

Agreed. And I think it'd be nothing special without the FF, either. It's the two working together that made the series what it is. take away either one of them and you'd lose out.

Lol. I was thinking, without Disney, Kingdom Hearts would just be a third-person RPG version of Dissidia. Or perhaps, simply, just a Final Fantasy 13 Versus predecessor. :D I think one of the attractions of Kingdom Hearts should be the inclusion of Disney too anyway, no?

:confused::confused: Sorry. I can't see it at all. I can understand about giant keys because it is like locking a door in a sense. The latter wouldn't make any sense at all.

*Sora and the gang go out into Gummi Space one day while on a mission to the Land of Dragons*

Sora- Hey! I have a splendid idea!
Donald, Goofy, Riku & Kairi- WHAT IS IT?!
Sora- I THINK THAT WITH THIS CHAINSAW, I CAN REWIND TIME AND STOP ALL OF THESE EVENTS FROM HAPPENING!
    Donald- -_- Seriously?
Goofy- Uh... I guess it wouldn't hurt.
*Sora takes out Chainsaw and jumps out of the gummi ship* I am quite positive.(Takes chainsaw and try to saw the universe)
Kairi- You are not doing anything. You are just attacking away at the air.
    Riku- Dumbass.

That is what I am imagining right now.

Riku's line about sums up what I'm thinking right now. I don't think S-E are such complete idiots that they would give their main character a weapon that makes no sense in the context of the game. Probably, the story was somewhat different when the original Sora was designed, but with the input of Disney, and other factors, it evolved to include the idea of keys and the locking and unlocking of worlds and hearts and all that junk.

Maybe it would have been similar to Ehrgeiz? Just an RPG version, instead of a fighting game, and pulling from more FF games than just VII. Ehrgeiz came out in 1998, so it could have been an influence on KH.

At least you are understanding form my point of view. Keys makes more sense because with keys, it is like opening a door "to a brand new world" and keys "Can lock a treasure chest so that it won't be opened". I support Disney's idea with the keyblade. I would have asked for my money back or trade the game in with something else if I ever played a game with such a weapon that has no meaning.

And you're completely missing my point, which was that in the original ideas of the game, the chainsaw weapon probably did have meaning. It doesn't fit into our current perspective of Kingdom Hearts, but the original ideas may have been very different, and I think the lack of Disney influence would have made it even moreso.

And now you went and completely missed out my point. If you can ask me, what power can a chainsaw do besides chopping off people's limb and making them bleed? Disney see that as more violent than a key.

    Toph's already said it.
I dont know the exact answers, since it was Nomura's idea for the whole thing, but perhaps the game was not going to be called Kingdom Hearts?

Cutting trees. Chainsaws were originally used to cut trees. Perhaps one too many movies for you? It doesn't have to be taken literally, The original weapon design for Sora wasn't exactly a chainsaw but more chainsaw like. Also think differently, a key is not a weapon, but they made it into one. What absurd idea could come from a chainsaw weapon?

The whole point of this thread is what KH would be like WITHOUT Disney. Hence, it could be as violent as S-E wanted it.

Maybe they'd argue that the chainsaw ripped open holes in the space/time continuum, or whatever it was Requiem suggested back there. Who knows? Suspend disbelief a little. This is a fantasy game.

Edit: Dammit, Doktor, you snuck in while I was posting and beat me to it. >_<

Something about this just made me laugh. So obvious. XD

Oh wow. Like trees would actually make a tribute like making the earth very dry and cease to have water. Sora would have been a making everything comical with his lion body.

Sora- I'm gonna saw you in half!!
Riku- Not if I do it fiiiiirst!!
*Both takes out chainsaw and cuts the pixies in half*
    Rikku-NOOO! DON'T!!
    Yuna-I shall hecaawgh!!
    Paine-You bi...
    Sora-I cut the most pieces!
    Riku- NO! I DID!
Sora-SHADDUP!! (Saws Riku's left arm off)
    Riku- GWAAAA!!

How much more violent can you get with that if Disney didn't join? OH! I know what they would do if they would apply the heart elements in this.

    * In the bright morning in the Land of the Departure*

Master Eraqus: A ChainBlade Wielder responsibility is not only to make sure that the realms are balanced but with the ChainBlade, we have the power to cut open people's hearts, saw down powerful doors called "branches" and we can use the ChainBlade to saw down powerful barriers.

Ven: WE CAN DO THAT?! Sweeet. *Takes out his WindWay Chainsaw and start sawing away his left chest to reveal his heart*
    Aqua: How gross!
Terra: I shall unleash the darkness! *Takes out his chainsaw and starts sawing away at his heart, flooding the area with darkness* MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Almost everything to be said has been said already, but who knows? Maybe Kingdom Hearts could've made it without Disney. Most likely not, but no one can prove that point wrong. (Unless of course you have the power to look at alternate timelines in which case I have a proposition for u :3 )
Ur thinking of a machete Summoner. Sry, that was really bugging me.

I'm sorry, what? Allow me to quote your Riku again.

I reckon the developers over at S-E (or Squaresoft, whoever it was at the time) would be more than qualified to make a decent story without a keyblade. Just because you think the idea is ridiculous doesn't mean it couldn't work, and work well. It's not as if S-E hasn't always been a fan of stupid weaponry- how feasible is Cloud's sword, really? And I doubt Squall's gunblade could actually work. Or how about how Rinoa launches her dog off of a projectile mounted on her arm? When it's a fantasy story, you have to just accept that some things are possible, and I don't see why it's such a stretch to imagine a character wielding a chainsaw-looking weapon. His weapon might not have even been very important to the original story- a lot of the time, they're interchangeable, except in a few cases where there's a story behind them, like with Cloud's sword. And really, that could have been left out, too.

I think that I can only say this: KEYBLADE in itself is a pretty creative concept. If it was a chainsaw, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it since i'm so used to Resident Evil and Silent Hill that has those kinds of weapons. =P

Disney not being in Kingdom Hearts would be like Mario not being in Super Mario RPG (another collab with Square). If Square developed SMRPG on their own, I bet it would have been just a DKC-graphic type FF remake. =P

It's not a chainsaw, it's a chainblade. There's a difference. If you've played Fallout 3, think of the Ripper with much smaller teeth, longer length, and a lot more grace.

Kingdom Hearts would not exist without Disney. It came from an exchange of ideas of the Disney exec and the Square exec in an elevator.

Kingdom hearts would = Final Fantasy without the disney aspect. Just another round of new and old characters. Also Merlon and Yensid wouldn't be around either. The party would probably include other FF characters instead.

Yup, Kingdom Hearts without Disney characters would pretty much just be another Dissidia.
Kingdom Hearts - Disney = Dissidia
I'm so going to take a patent on that shiz
