Christmas is almost amongst us already, well actually there's still over a month but who's counting? Every year around this time special Christmas movies always pop up all over the place and I was wondering if anyone else likes to watch them. Pressuming that Canada isn't the only country to air these movies...

The reason I'm asking is because tomorrow the Penguins of Madagascar Christmas Special is on and I'm quite psyched to watch it because I've never personally saw this one yet. (I run by Canadian satellite so perhaps it's not on for others tomorrow.) Watching these movies on tv always bring some holiday cheers, especially if I go to watch them with my grandparents where hot coco is present.

    But yeah, I'd like to know who else actually watches these or maybe I'm just the only dork in the world which is highly plausible. My personal favourite is Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer because I love Hermey, I mean an elf who's a dentist, classy (;
    So what's your favourite?

Yes! The minute I saw this thread title, I thought of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. That's been my favorite ever since I was little.

There's also a Frosty the Snowman cartoon that I remember from being a kid- I think they still show it, though I haven't seen it in ages. And even though every year at some point we catch A Christmas Story on tv, I've yet to see it all the way through. But it's a classic.

And this deserves an honorable mention, even though I don't think it technically counts as a Christmas Special- that Flintstone's commercial for Fruity Pebbles where Barney dresses up like Santa to try to steal Fred's cereal. "Santa?! My Pebbles!" (See it here on YouTube) XD

I finally saw all of A Christmas Story last year. Normally I'd always catch the tail end, I felt purely accomplished.

Another amazing film that I enjoy is The Christmas Shoes. I first saw it at my grandparents house three years ago and I thought it was brilliant. It's the one where the boy wants to buy his dying mother a pair of shoes, it was one of those movies that touched my heart :)

I just finished watching that on youtube. I have never seen that commercial in my life, man I've been missing out xDD The Flinstone's just make Christmas, isn't their a Christmas related film with them? Or is that the Jetsons? Or maybe both of them do >.<

I'm so brilliant I spelt Rudolph wrong! For shame...

    The Good Witches Gift.
Holy crap, this was the best Christmas movie I have seen in a very long time.
I have never watched the original show it is based on, but I didn't feel like I needed too.
My parents recorded it lately and we all watched it.
In my opinion, it had everything you would want out of a Christmas movie, with out being an over done cliche.
Seriously, if you haven't seen it, look it up.
    It was so good.

I think the commercial still airs around the holidays, unless they've stopped airing it within the past couple of years (I haven't seen it since I moved to KY in 2007). But I always looked forward to seeing it- as a kid, I liked the Fruity Pebbles commercials in general (my dad was a big Flintstones fan, I suppose that's why) and that Christmas one always got me. "Ho Ho Ho, I'm hu-hu-hungry!" Seriously, what could top that line of awesome?

There's a holiday special called "The Flintstones Save Christmas." You can find it on YouTube, too.

I really ought to make an effort and sit through it this year. But I'm easily distracted. >_<

Don't feel bad about that. I cannot remember if I've ever actually seen it (Except for a few scenes when they showed it in school the past few years when I was in high school), but I think that i've never seen it. My friends seem shocked, since it's a classic and all.

As for actual movies, aside from Rudolph and the Frosty movies that I usually catch at least once, this is usually the time I see The Santa Clause with Tim Allen.

That's a good one, too. It's hard for me to believe that movie's like 16 years old now.

I tend to catch the same few scenes, so I've really missed out on most of the movie.

Duh, forgot about one- National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I don't think I've ever heard my dad laugh as hard as he does when this movie's on the tv. It's rather infectious.

Home Alone (the first one) is another one I used to love as a kid but haven't seen in recent years.

And there's also The Nightmare Before Christmas, though I tend to get the urge to watch this around Halloween, rather than Christmas.

And I dunno, would anyone else consider Gremlins a Christmas movie?

I don't think so. I only saw it once, so I don't really remember the time frame the movie takes place in. But considering that it's supposed to be a horror movie, I don't think you could really call it a Christmas movie either.

^ I have it on video tape somewhere- haven't seen it in a while, unfortunately. But I remember it being set at Christmas time and kind of following the pattern of a lot of Christmas movies (people getting ready for Christmas, followed by Christmas being potentially ruined, and then at the end, Christmas is saved). I've noticed it being shown on cable/satellite around the holiday season, too, so I'm hoping I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Though, certainly it's not a traditional Christmas flick. XD

And I don't know that I'd classify it as a horror movie- it's more of a horror-comedy. But I suppose that's really not important.

VentusSearcher Steam is the only way....

My favorite by far is Rudolph. "Im independent!" Rudolph says. "Im independendt to,"Says Hermy. "We could be independent TOGETHER!" I love that quote.

My second favorite is a Year Without a Santa Claus

I actually do believe that Gremlims is a Christmas movie. As you've mentioned it follows the normal Christmas pattern, mind you it does have a bit of a twist in regards to those little creatures that start of being so cute. I think why some people may say Gremlins isn't is due to the fact that it's not as cheerful as the other holiday movies and may terrify smaller children, but I did watch it back when I was around 7 so how bad can it be? I personally think it brings a change to the average Christmas film xD

Is that the one with the Miser Brothers? Hot dog I love those two, and Mother Nature, who could forget her? I always get those tunes stuck in my head; it's Christmas in it's purest form.
"I'm Mister White Christmas, I'm Mister Snow.
I'm Mister Icicle, I'm Mister 10 below." XDD
    Fantastic.

I also want to give a mentioning of the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, when I was younger the Grinch scared me a lot because of his killer long fingers, but overall it was an excellent movie. (I prefer the one with Jim Carrey over the cartoon version.) I'm excited to watch it this year and must start looking through the channels on tv and see when it's on!

Oh an I was wondering if anyone here has ever seen any of the VeggieTales Christmas specials. I was raised on these vegetables xD

I don't know too many Christmas MOVIES but I absolutely adore the Christmas specials that appear on TV-series. :3
House, NCIS, Monk.. It's so interesting to watch the characters celebrate Christmas. ^^
From Christmas movies my favourites would.. Be... Um.. The Nightmare Before Christmas? A Christmas Carol is also wonderful. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to watching movies. xD

So far my favourite Christmas (and Thanksgiving) special was on NCIS (7th season, I believe?).
    So sweet~.
