I've been trying to be an active poster in the forum, but it gets kind of hard when all of the dead threads are still up in their places. Like, only the first 5 or so threads in any category are postable :I And then some admins leave up threads that they posted in 5 days ago declaring the thread dead...it's confusing.

I never understood why posting in a dead thread is bad anyway, If the topic is still relative, whys it bad?

lol, I once argued against necro-posting and eventually got negarep. It's a rule, that's the only explanation I remember getting. :3

Because it is called bumping. I really didn't understood it either. Still, if you really want to post in it, make another thread in relation to that. Just make sure that you look at the date to see how old was the last post. If it is older than a month, then you cannot post in that thread.

What i got out of that is
Its bad cause its called bumping lol

Why is bumping bad? I mean, why make a new topic? Theres a perfectly good one right there lol

Nah, I'm not arguing against it, i'm just saying it's really confusing to have like 4 pages of dead threads and then only the first 5 topics are postable. Can't old threads be deleted or moved? A lot of them are from 2010...

That would make this forum look SO inactive.

If the rule on dead threads was removed we would have so much more activity.

he has a point, it would look better on this forum to seem as if it had more activity.

We can move the threads to the section where closed threads are at but if the threads are deleted, then a lot of post points would be lost. Best to close them and move them to the section for closed/dead threads.

And then we would have 3-5 threads in each forum. lol. That would look terrible.

Maybe we just need more people in general, OR have people stop dropping out of the forums

No, the site owner is opposed to that for some reason relating to search engines and forum rankings and such. The threads have to stay where they are and they cannot be deleted.

Personally, I never quite got the big deal over bumping, either, but the rule's in place so I reckon I'll uphold it. Just make a new thread, it's probably better to start a discussion fresh anyhow, especially if the thread in question has been dead for a while.
