Prologue​

Twelve hundred years ago there was a painter by the name of Kaijo Yamada. He was a painter of extraordinary caliber and known all over Japan for his influential work. One day, returning from an extended trip from Imperial city, the capital of Japan and the source of all his business, he happened to come across to what appeared to be an old fortune teller on the side of the road. Being in a good mood from having such success in the city he decided to humor the old woman. Little did he know that the encounter with the woman would trigger the downfall of mankind.

The woman was actually a demon by the name of Melchid the beast of a thousand faces, a trusted agent of Reshef the Dark One, and its mission was to plant a parasite inside Kaijo Yamada which would heighten his spiritual powers that lay dormant within him. The painter was to be used as a spiritual conduit to open the portal into the realm of Serekai, The world of the demons (Kanja). But in order for this to come to pass he had to be dead and soul stripped from him. This is where the parasite’s true purpose came to light.

Over the course of a month, the parasite slowly killed Kaijo while stripping him of his soul. When Kaijo finally met his end everything within a 2 mile radius was instantly incinerated under the crushing force of the gateway’s mana. Kaijo’s body levitated 25 feet in the air and began emitting a bluish black light that shot straight from his mouth and eyes into the sky. The clouds and sky immediately grew dark and fire rained down from the heavens around Kaijo’s floating body. In the span of 2 minutes the sky began to rip open like a loaf of bread. The blood from Kaijo’s body seeped through his skin, rose above his body and formed a circle around the bluish black light that served as the beacon towards the heavens. The blood rose higher and higher until it was masked by the clouds and then, a loud roar as If it were a battle cry sounded and the gates started to form. Giant black doors easily the size of two mansions, elaborate bright red patterns covering the door from head to toe, the insignia for death etched on both sides of the door under two skulls that produced chains from its mouths and went across the door; effectively sealing it for the time being.

Soon after the door finished forming Melchid the beast of a thousand faces appeared, floating at the head of Kaijo’s evaporating body and began mumbling a chant under her breath. The farther she got into the chant the more the elements around her would respond to her call. Lightning struck the earth, the winds picked up and became violent as a hurricane, the earth produced earthquakes that could takedown the most fortified palace, rivers, streams and the ocean flooded the surrounding area-taking away crops and the life of anyone that was foolish enough to stay behind. The people who died ended up having their souls stripped from them and absorbed by Kaijo’s body and then up through the light towards the gate. This act was able to fuel Melchid’s spell further than expected. She finished the spell with these final words:

“The Keel Mountains traverse at last, shunning the scorched field broken by Mana; hope darkens as the sun dies out, and sadness and despair will once again rule. From the chosen land beyond you shall be reborn. With all the pieces of the Dark One gathered, I, Melchid, your most loyal agent, summon you into the world of the living. Serekai Gates, Kanja Restraints, Release!!”
And on cue the gates gave a low moan as the doors opened and snapped the chain that once sealed it. The doors opened up completely and then there was darkness. It was if someone had flipped the switch that gave the world sound because it was nothing but absolutely pure eerie silence, the calm before the storm. Melchid shot off a single blast from her finger into the waiting darkness. An earthly wail came from the darkness. (Think of bleach and the sound hollows make)

“Yes my brothers and sisters, the doors are finally open. Come and free yourself of that spiritual prison.”

The moment she spoke those words the gates were flooded with millions of demons pouring out into the world of the living. Soon after, the Dark One himself appeared. And sure enough Reshef led his demon army against the living. The humans stood no chance against the ancient and demonic magic that the demons possessed. He started conquering city after city while claiming its treasures in the process. After a week of conquest, he set his eyes upon the sacred land that was imperial city. As he approached its mystic walls three pillars of light appeared but quickly vanished and in its place were Lorelei, Belial, and Eternia – Gods of the celestial plane.

Reshef howled with laughter. “I was wondering when my dear brother and sisters would show up. It wouldn’t be as fun conquering this world without some sort of challenge.” Reshef’s army erupted in laughter.

“Reshef you must stop this senseless quest for domination. What can you honestly expect to gain by doing any of this?” Belial asked.

“Brother why do you ask questions you already know the answers to? It is a waste of your energy. Instead, you should be using that energy by my side, aiding me in the annihilation of these pitiful humans. Surely you can see the magnificence of my plan.” stated Reshef as he folded his arms.
Lorelei stepped forward, outraged by her brothers words. “There isn’t anything magnificent about this destruction at all. And you couldn’t have possibly forgotten that your mother...our mother is one of those “pitiful humans” you wish to destroy.” Lorelei drew her sword and directed it straight at Reshef. “I will not allow it.”

Reshef narrowed his eyes in annoyance. “Have it your way sister. I’m a little disappointed in you though. I always hoped that you’d be the one to join my cause. You being the oldest and all should’ve given you the ability to see things for what they really are. But alas, I suppose not all of us are gifted with common sense.”

“Insult me all you want but you will not succeed. Your quest ends here.” said Lorelei as she dropped into a fighting stance; Belial and Eternia doing the same.

Reshef barked out a laugh once again. “Do you really think you can take me? I have an army of demons and Melchid, my strongest warrior at my side and all you have is the three of you.”

“That’s what you think brother” said Eternia. “You were never one to pay attention to father’s lessons. Never underestimate your opponent or it will result in your defeat.”

Eternia brought her hand up to the sky and a reddish gold portal opened in the sky and through it countless hordes of soldiers poured through it and swiftly landed behind the three gods. Once the soldiers were out; the portal became slightly bigger and from it - six dragons appeared; the celestial six, the dragons of Shinato.

Reshef summoned his yari no ken (spear sword) and pointed towards the gods and said one word: “Attack!!”

With that the exchange of words was over and it was replaced with the sounds of battle. The battle raged on for 200 days until it was down to Eternia and Reshef. They clashed head on with whatever spiritual strength they had left. In the end, Eternia came out victorious and immediately sealed Reshef’s soul inside the azure plane and his body inside the celestial plane. After all three of the gods had recovered some of their strength they began the cleanup process. Scores of countless bodies, the land in the surrounding area barren by the relentless battle, the imperial city wall was still in tack minus a couple of cracks and dents. The gods made sure no demon got past them. And as they were doing the cleanup, they failed to notice that Melchid had managed to escape and was already putting her masters’ true plan into action. Reshef knew he would be defeated; his plan was to infect the world with a curse he and Melchid created. He designed it so when his body and soul were separated, the curse-carrying parasite would spread worldwide into tiny objects. The objects chosen were masks. The cursed parasite would then act as a sort of conduit for Melchid to use as another portal from Serekai to the world of the living but this time going unnoticed by the celestial gods. The second ability of the parasite acted more as a virus by releasing a microscopic substance that infected the human populace via airborne exposure. Now that all the pieces on the board were set, all Melchid had to do was wait and watch as the parasite’s ability began to take effect. Then, she would move on to her masters’ next step, building him a new; stronger army and from then on…the real fun would began.

Nine hundred years later……​

The year is 2105. The entire world is in state of panic. Unexplained events have taken place; huge craters forming inside the earth, buildings catching on fire, tornadoes forming in parts of the world and taking thousands of lives, tidal waves crashing into coastal cities and so and so on. This has caused an increase in the number of suicide cases, people aren’t waiting around to see what happens. People are going on saying it’s the end of the world, that god has forsaken them. But the truth is that the Kanja have been disguising themselves as humans using masks to go all around the world to cause chaos and destruction.

The celestial gods – Lorelei, Belial, and Eternia were stunned and outraged. How were the Kanja appearing in the world of the living without any detection whatsoever? For the longest time that question had gone unanswered until one day the gods grew impatient and decided to take action in hopes of fixing this problem. When they destroyed a demon they discovered that when slain the demon leaves behind its mask that it wore.

Eternia, realizing what her little brother was up to immediately rushed to the celestial plane but not before leaving her siblings with a message:

“Lorelei, Belial, the both of you have to counter the curse that lays within this mask. Once you do that I want you to start countering the curse that’s all over the world. And when that’s done….i need you to start locating the few who can see you and the Kanja….actually, find those who can see you and teach them how to defend themselves, their loved ones and to defend others. And your job will be to protect the ones you are teaching because the fate of the world lays in their hands.”

And with that said, Eternia vanished.

The Celestial castle in the Sky​

Home to the celestial Gods. This is the place where you eat, sleep, study, train, and watch over your loved ones from the watch tower. You are a celestial apprenticed or a Minarai. Your are one of the few humans who can see and defeat the Kanja. Every Minarai come equip with soul chains. Soul chains are the link between you and the celestial beings. It also allows you to add and hold masks from slain Kanja to your chain in order to inherit new powers and abilities. The different kinds of abilities that can be gained are limitless. There is a mask for every power. When Minarai are awakened (chosen) you are allowed up to 3 masks when you first start out. One mask that deepens your sight of the Kanja and two other masks that represent the powers that you will choose. Your purpose for coming here is to defeat the kanja, stop the elemental disasters that are breaking out all over the world, and stop any threat that steps in the way of the Celestial ones.
