I have a... really stupid idea. What about a form of a "Like" button, similar to Facebook's? I know that's kinda what the Rep button does, but a Like button what be a little easier.

I think I can add to that. Perhaps if someone gets 50 or 100 likes from their posts, the get 1 rep added to their name?

Could be confusing with the one that would give you rep or negative rep
Well I always see like buttons together with dislike buttons.

Technically, the "like" function is what the Rep is for. People don't use Rep very much as it is. A like button wouldn't be very different, at least not in the long run.

Well... Facebook doesn't exactly have a "dislike" button yet. But, yeah, adding to the Rep is a great idea. And, Wayward, I pointed that out. I know the Rep button is basically the same thing. But, if you get Repped, you have no clue what for, but the Like button can be focused to one particular post. You follow?

Actually, when you get repped, you DO know what for, because when you check your rep in your user CP, it will show what post(s) of your were given rep. And there's an option for people to leave comments as to why they're repping you.

EDIT: My bad. It only shows the thread you were repped in. Even so, it allows you to know what you would have been repped for.

^ But if you click on the link that shows the thread name, it takes you to the post for which you got the rep. At least it does for me. I know admins can see a bit more than regular members can.

As far as this idea goes, it's been suggested before (and not too long ago), but I don't see much of a point when we already have the rep system and I don't know if a "Like" option is even available for this forum. But thanks for the suggestion.

It does for me as well, so I figured every member could do it. I figured the only difference between regular members and staff is that the staff members are able to find out who sent the rep.

I get the same thing. Adding a "like/dislike" button is just redundant.

How about this, let's keep the rep system in use and forget about this idea.

    So, thanks, but no thanks.
