Light-Based Villain?

Do you think there'll ever be a light-based villain (for example: someone who, as a result of Xehanort's actions, rejects "balance" and believes everyone would simply be better off without darkness)?

It would certainly make sense, especially as *BBS SPOILERS* Eraqus himself was corrupted by the light *END SPOILERS*

it would also be a nice change from Xehanort MK 1-13 as well.

I thnk a light based antagonist would be a welcome twist to the franchise, blurring the line between the black vs white concept of Light and Darkness.

I think a better fit question for this would be not "If" but "who" and "when"... well its certainly an interesting idea. Say Eraqus himself? I woul be impressed by such a twist.

Eraqus is dead. I find it hard to believe that he'll come back alive. As for a "Light-based" villain, that is a possibility. Maybe a person who was hurt by the darkness and want to justify the means or someone who is like Master Xehanort but use light for evil, a person of light who has a hatred for Keyblade wielders, the list is long.

My personal idea is Aqua, except she becomes an "anti-villain" rather than a "true" villain.

    P.S. - Eraqus isn't dead. He's inside Terra's heart.

Aah Aqua I didnt think about her... seeing how she made it to the shores of the realm of darkness.

I do not know why Aqua is becoming a particular candidate to end up becoming a deutoragonist. I do not believe that she is emotional to where she will reach that stage yet. Plus, learning from Ansem what is going on in the past 10/11 years, she knows that she has a chance to get back with Ventus and Terra.

You know when you look at all the dots here, there's not too many candidates for this role that we've met yet. At least not that I can figure. We've already had a character using the darkness for good. And that was Riku. So is there really anyone we could consider becoming a light serving villain?...

Eraqus is really the only current canditate. Otherwise, light is capable of corrupting people just as much as darkness. When, or if, Aqua returns from the realm of darkness, it would be very plausible for her to be scarred mentally by the darkness and become corrupted by the light.

True, she hasn't reached that stage yet, but come KH3, anything could happen.

... Eraqus is dead. How in the world can he be a candidate and he is already dead?

@Alan But if Aqua is going to help the heroes fight against Master Xehanort, then it is not likely that she will try to use light and become a villain. The only thing that I see that may happen is in the next saga series of Kingdom Hearts where we may receive one.

    Not "villain". Anti-villain.

Go here: Anti-Villain - Television Tropes & Idioms

P.S. - Eraqus isn't dead. He's inside Terra's heart, as revealed in Blank Points. This also prevents Xehanort from ever taking full control over Terra.

I do not have to read about Anti-Villains because I know what they are. However, I still consider him dead even if Eraqus' heart is inside Terra's heart. Eraqus is not alive to keep the Land of Departure up in its current state and since Master Xehanort is back, we can conclude that he was able to overcome Terra's heart and Eraqus'. Even if Terra comes back, for Eraqus to come back would require something similar to what Kairi did to bring back Sora. Even so, Eraqus most likely will not be a candidate for couple of reasons:

    1. He is dead and his heart is what enables Terra to resist Master Xehanort's power.
    2. The saga will end and he is most likely going to congratulate everyone for fighting against Master Xehanort and now sees that darkness is bad but only bad as the user who uses darkness for that purpose.

But #1 is more probable. Not dead because of his heart, yes but in general, is dead and gone.

    Eraqus? Probably not.

    Aqua? Maybe.

But since Kingdom Hearts is so light-hearted, chances are it'll either be Terra being influenced somehow by shreds of Eraqus or it'll be nothing. Aqua was pretty much the main character of BBS, so it's unlikely that she'll be a permanent villain/anti-villain. Maybe she'll be like Riku and be an anti-villain for part of the game, but I doubt she'd stay that way.

Truth be told, I keep envisioning her not "turning" until the end of KH3, where, finally snapping, she steals the X-Blade from a battle-weakened MX and murders him by repeatedly locking and unlocking his heart over and over again until he eventually disintegrates, then turns her "vigilantism" toward all darkness in general, wanting to destroy that which has given her and her friends so much misery.

I need to post that in the Wild Mass Guessing section of TV Tropes.

I honestly couldn't think of a more cruel death than having your heart locked and unlocked into disintegration. Whilst it would be a dark turn, I wouldn't mind if it happened.

Perhaps Eraqus would be the one to stop her vigilantism. It would be quite a touching twist, considering that he was so opposed to darkness in BBS.

Various members of TV Tropes told me that Aqua going Light-vigilante like that in the final round of KH3's final battle would be anti-climactic and ruin her character. But I doubt it; it would actually be very climactic AND emotional, depending on how SE wrote it. Not to mention that her devotion to her friends could actually work TOWARD such a turn, what with a desire to protect/avenge them and all.

But I still will have to agree with the "TV Troupe". Not only that, Aqua knows that the X-Blade is a threat so I don't see why she would even want it. Besides, the main focus is on Xehanort and no one else. We do not need any Kingdom Hearts version of the Final Fantasy final bosses. where you are to fight the antagonist who is there, only to realize that there is a antagonist who is behind the whole thing ( -_- *Cough cough* FFVIII, FFIII, FFX, FFIX).

She wouldn't be "behind the whole thing"; MX would still be the antagonist for most of the final battle. But she would eventually snap due to remembering his darkness-related actions against her and her friends, and emotion can often override reasoning.

She's only human, and she can only take so much. Her trying to let the Darksides kill her in BBS is proof of that.
