I am so team Nintendo again! A lot of third party publishers are jumping aboard.

It looks promising since they seem to have finally ditched gimmick town. =] I'm gonna wait to see how it goes before hype.

    Thoughts?

If I had money, I would invest in Nintendo stock right now. This changes the game. Very innovative. Nintendo needs this after the Wii U flop.

Its because of the flop that I'm gonna reserve for now. Nintendo hasn't been worth note for me since the wii.
Well besides the handhelds. I loved things like The World Ends With You over the years :'D

My sister showed me this today, and I think it looks really cool. I'll be interested to see reviews and find out if it ends up being as good as it looks.

This could just be nit picky but the detachable controllers look tiny. Kind of awkward to play on.
The idea of it is pretty cool though. I hope it is successful.

Seems everyone either loves or hates the clicking of the small controllers haha
I agree though. I know they wouldn't fit well in my hands. Its the same reason I had to play DSXL's. =[

Maybe the controllers don't seem so awkward when you're actually using them, but I agree that they do seem really tiny. They also seem like they could be easily misplaced, especially if you have a house full of young children. Overall, though, I still think this console seems really innovative, and I hope it does well.

I hope it does well too. It seems Nintendo finally abandoned the gimmick train and that alone gives me some hope for them. I'm gonna wait and watch before I hype though due to the past. =)

Something about it is still kind of gimmicky to me. I hope I'm wrong

Well the whole port to console can be seen as gimmicky but since handheld is what they've basically kept afloat by for a good while it may not be AS bad....maybe >3>

I mean, Nintendo these days tends to be more "gimmicky" with their systems. Let's be frank, it seems like a lot of the performance capabilities of Nintendo systems over the past few years have paled somewhat in comparison to the Sony and Microsoft products.

I digress though, the Switch has me interested. I may pick one up, if nothing else, for the sake of the nostalgia of the Nintendo brand.

I've never cared about things like performance, brands, or specs myself. I just want something to have fun games on it. Nintendos gimmick train the last decade really disappointed me. I tried each and I found myself liking a SNES or N64 more. Console wise anyway.

Nintendo has done okay with handhelds over the years. Also gimmicky but they still tended to have fun games in quantity. The second screen and motion sensor even finally came in handy for once with Zelda titles.

Yeah. handhelds and the older consoles have always been my favorites from Nintendo over the years. Granted I never owned any of the Wii systems, the games that I've played on them (mostly with my cousin) have never totally kept my interest for all that long. A lot of the games at this point are party games, or so it seems, which generally don't sit well with people who game solo frequently.

As for Switch, it looks like they may be working on a certain marriage, so to speak, of their home console and handheld experiences. I'm particularly curious as to what the game format will be (IE direct download, disc, etc).

I'm curious as well. They seem to have learned from the gimmicky mistakes or at least realized what's kept them alive is handhelds. I wont be buying anything till I see lots more myself though.

There's a lot of cool directions something like a Switch can go in. I guess it's kinda like a waiting game to see if they squander it.

The Switch is gimmicky as f***. That being said, it is also what should be the natural evolution of console gaming. So it is a good start.

I'm definitely going to get one. Probably as soon as it comes out cuz Zelda and I don't have a Wii U. I am a bit worried though about some rumors I've heard that Nintendo is basically gonna do with it what they do with Amiibos. Actually I think they may have done that with the Wii as well. Anyways, basically it is produce low initially to create a big demand later. Economically it is a beneficial move for consumers since that should lower the price of the console

My concern with that though... Zelda. I need that game bad.

Gimmicky but in a way you can play it like a normal system lol. Long as I'm not using some tablet for a controller or flailing my arms like a moron I consider the gimmick train level low.

That Zelda game does look damn amazing. ;-; Like holy sh*t....
