So recently i purchased the PS4 bundle of Kingdom hearts 1.5/2.5 remix. I wanted to go on my nostalgia trip and play KH from start to finish. I finished up KH1 easily but uh....im playing Chain of memories and i uh... I DONT REMEMBER IT BEING THIS ANNOYING. honestly i hate it. it's not fun, the gameplay is boring, and frustrating. leveling up feels less rewarding the more and more i do it. and quite frankly Vexen can die in the nearest fire.

Im asking should i just skip this game and watch the cutscenes on Youtube because...im sick of it tbh tbh i'l just play KH2 instead...

I hated the gameplay in the original version, and I agree with you that the game isn't fun. Personally, I'd just look up the cutscenes on Youtube and call it a day. It's not worth finishing the game if you hate life by the time you make it through, imo.

That's exactly how i feel. like i don think putting the card system 2D style into 3D really works. Trying to dodge attacks. read my cards, know when to card break, to also be in range to attack. usign the right sleights at the right time. just ITS TOO MUCH lol. i dont really feel like finishing it.

I think the final fight with Marluxia is worth the struggle. Just throw it on Beginner and slam your way through just to get there. Should be done in 5-6 hours at most if you power through.

The shift to 3D definitely wasn't in the favor of this games play style. I also enjoy the story but looking up on youtube is fine. The only reason I beat it on the PS4 versions was so I'd have all the scenes unlocked. I basically treat any game on those remixes that aren't KH1 or 2 as theater modes to use when I need refreshing. (haven't done that in ages though)

I will add though. You can easily break the game. CoM is one of those games that can be very strategic, which I like, but also very broken. Lethal Frame alone will get you through most of the boss battles.

Making a deck that spams Lethal Frame for bosses
A deck of Tornado for rooms
A deck of pure attack cards for Marluxia

Those are how I beat the game.
My own biggest gripe is the room after room tedium. I kinda wish Sora's story had smaller world rooms to kick up the pace. (as well as a locked deck mode)

Nah, im not gonna play something that i dont enjoy. im stuck at Vexen and quite frankly im not having fun. So i think i'll just cap it here and move on to KH2 now.

YouTube should work well enough. It is how I know anything about any of the handheld games honestly. Never bothered buying that many new platforms just to keep up with the story. It wasn't worth it to me.

As for Re:Com I hated it too. The cards are a game ruiner for me. Maybe it was better for the GBA. I don't know.

Nope, it was horrible on that, too (if anything, I remember people at the time saying RE: COM was an improvement). I bought a GBA specifically for this game when it came out, so this game was a huge waste of money, in addition to being a disappointment.

Yeah, it got old quick. I ended up stuck right before the final boss because I didn't have enough whatever to get through the final door, but I was already so over the game that I didn't care anymore and gave up on it. It's a shame because the story is decent, but I just didn't find any joy in playing through it.

tbh People seem to hate the card system in general so I doubt fan opinions will vary much on either format. I personally think it worked better on the GBA but only because it was made with that system in mind. Not that it was good on GBA, just that going to 3D made it worse.

I think the biggest damage of CoM on GBA was the fact it was basically a set up, if not half, of KH2's story. So many went into KH2 lost af.
In retrospect, CoM started a damaging trend as well. Even if Nintendo or Disney pushed for handhelds, it was Nomura that made them too relevant....

I've always wondered what Kh2 would be like without CoM after I learned it was only made because fans wanted a KH on the GBA. (silently trails off into thoughts and tangent)

Oh lord I know what you're talking about. There was nothing, NOTHING, more infuriating than getting stuck because you lacked some random @SS card with a certain color or value. I got stuck on Riku's file once because I didn't have a blue #2 of any kind.

The Joker cards of the 3D version are probably the only huge alteration I'm glad was made. Getting stuck in a room after going through so many was horribly infuriating.

The story was definitely the only perk to the struggle. A shame it kinda dropped off from there, at least to me. Story never got better...

I don't hate Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories. I just got bored with it. I thought it was good at what it did, which was to somewhat bridge the gap between I and II. But like most other games I play, I get to a point where I don't want to play it any longer, and therefore stop playing it.

I feel like I'm the only one who really enjoys Re:CoM. Odd. Oh well.

Oh, and even though you're not gonna finish playing, figured I'd say that setting up a deck to use only the Sonic Rave sleight will literally solve all of your boss problems. Literally all of them.

I enjoyed the story and I honestly kinda enjoyed Riku's variation of the gameplay but I won't lie, I find it too tedious to replay. (more so the console than GBA version)

Ah the other broken sleight. xD
