What do you think about sequels? Do you think that they will open some more insights on the background of a character or do you think that it will just ruin everything? Tell us about your opinions.

I enjoy sequels to certain games. If the ending of a game clearly wraps up a story, leaving no loose ends, there should be no sequel. But if character mysteries and things remain unsolved, and sequel would be very nice.

Generally, I am opposed to sequels. For one, there is not an FF game that I have played that I thought needed a sequel. VII has the ending with the least amount of closure, in my opinion, but even so, I would never have pushed hard for a sequel. The other games ended well enough that I think they should be left in peace.

The second reason I don't care for FF sequels is because they just aren't well done. Now, the only one I have experience playing is X-2, and I've grown to be fond of it, but there's no denying its horror. It butchered loveable characters and had a terrible story. I've also seen Advent Children, and while the graphics were pretty, I wasn't impressed with that story or how the characters were handled, either. And while I have never played Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, or Revenant Wings (I think that's all the sequels to main games?), I've heard mixed reviews about all of them, and I think that's a sign that they weren't as good as they should've been. Now, not every FF fan is going to like everything, I understand that, but the feeling I get from those games is that a lot of people were underwhelmed.

I think that they should only have sequel's based on a character's background. A sequel of FFVIII on a character like Ultimecia, Edea or Adel would be nice or a prequel to FFVIII would be nice.

I think for this to work, it should be a character who was on the sidelines during the original game. Someone who may have been important in their own way, but didn't play a very major role. I think it was a bad idea for Yuna to be the lead of X-2.

If there are to be sequels, I would prefer them to include very few characters from the original games. Like, take VIII, for example. A game set in the past, with Adel as a villain, wouldn't make me too irritated, nor would a game in the far future concerning Ultimecia's takeover there. Better yet would be a game from a whole other time period, though- for instance, concerning the sorceress who gave her powers to Edea when Edea was 5 years old. I think pre/sequels need to be far enough removed from the original that it doesn't change how I feel about the original, if that makes sense.

The only person I could think to be elligable for that would have to be Laguna. He's the only one that truly tied to Adel aside from Rinoa, as far as I remember. Besides, I think going through ALL of his wily adventures would be great. He's such a dork. :p

We only have to go through a few scenes of him as Laguna in FFVIII but I don't think that I would be interested to play as him again. Playing as a person who was friends with Adel or Ultimecia would be a great idea for a pre/sequel. I think the main character should most likely be Edea. She knows a lot from the age of five. It would be nice if the main character was actually a villian like Ultimecia.

Yes! I would love a sequel if it featured a villain from the original game as the protagonist. You'd be able to see things in a totally different perspective.

Not necessarily. Adel had been around for a while before Laguna arrived and took her out so easily I wonder why no one else could've figured it out. We know there was an Adel resistance movement- the protagonist could have been a member of that.

It would be nice if they actually stop making sequel's of FFVII. It just goes on and on and on. I don't know what I would do if they make a sequel of FFIX.

The thing with sequels is that as long as they make money on them, they will make more of them. The reason VII gets so many prequels and sequels is because they know they can make money on them.

However, not all of them are bad.X-2 could have been done better, but I like it more now then I did when it came out.Crisis Core was cool,I liked it.Of course, everyone has there own opinion, and even a good game will have someone who doesnt like it one bit.Time will tell whether VIII gets a sequel.I think it actually may be more popular now because of Leon in KH.People like him after all.So it is always possible.

Amen. But whether deserving or not, VII has the most diehard fans, in my opinion, and I think S-E knows that they'll buy everything they release concerning VII. And as long as people keep buying, they'll keep making games for the compilation.

I don't think IX actually needs a sequel. The ending pretty much showed where everyone ended up. What is left to tell?

But Vivi is dead in FFIX so there's no reason to do a sequel for him. They did a sequel for FFXII but some people didn't like it. I would like it better if it was on the PS2 instead of having it on the DS version. <.> Why they had it on the DS version anyways?

It was just a joke SB.Also,i said little ViVi cause of all the clones of him.Hard to miss that detail...

It really depends too i guess.Vaan and Penelo have been in one of the Tactics games that shows him as a competent Sky Pirate (I think.Read up on it,cant remember which one.Probably wont be able to play it.)Its a way to give them more development I believe.Of course, many FF games have it to where you dont need a sequel for things like that.
