What RPG Would You Recommend

Discussion in 'General RPGs' started by Destiny, May 6, 2010.

  1. Destiny

    This is for other RPG games besides Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy.

    Do you play a RPG that's not common or real famous, recommend it here.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The RPG I would recommend is Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, it's not real common heard about but, it's a real good game plus it has a great storyline.
  2. Goldfish
    Goldfish Cats in the Cradle
    Doo doo doo doo doo, here's some.
    Suikoden 1and 2 on the PS1. I saw a 4 on PS2 but never played 3, 4 and beyond. 2 was able to retrieve data from 1, seemed cool and the whole epicness of collecting all 108 stars of destiny (playable characters) made the game last longer. It's your traditional turn based RPG and there are events which take you to control whole armies or just one character and it decides whether he lives or dies (which does change the outcome of the ending I think).
    Chrono Trigger on the SNES. Need I say more? Probably. 8 different endings I think, multiple ways to find and defeat the last boss, back track through dungeons after gaining abilities to open certain boxes. Perhaps annoying, but the rewards were worth your time. Besides that, a gripping time paradox story with a different battle system mixing both real time and turn based strategy together (like FFXIII but better imo). And mixing attacks to make it better.
    Chrono Cross on the PS1. Game had so many paths to choose from resulting in gaining or losing of characters and different endings. Similar to Chrono Trigger (with the whole endings and finding the boss, well it is the sequel) but add a butt load of more characters to find that may or may not join your party.
    Front Mission3 on the PS1. I've never seen the other ones before but this was one great tactics adventure. Giant Mechabots with upgrades and weapons and Pilots learning pilot skills to have the upper edge in battle. Cool story with 2 different paths to choose from. Join your adopted sister or your adopted sister's sister to stop new weapon threats.
    Breath of Fire 1, 2, 3 and 4 on multiple systems. Avoid 5, seems different and the protagonist speaks and has a different hair colour. Field abilities, mini games (like fishing, so it's gotta be good =P) and prizes will keep you occupied and avoid the main story line and spend countless hours to getting everything right. And you get to turn into a dragon.
    Parasite Eve 1 and 2 on PS1. If you like Resident Evil, this is probably for you. It mixes the horror adventure game with touches of RPG elements in it, like Equipments, Magic, Levels/Growth System, battle screen/field etc. Cool end of the world by some little girl story and mutated beasts (NMC's!) terrorising parks and shopping centres.
    (insert title) of Mana series. I've only played Secret of Mana and Sword of Mana. I enjoyed it.
    Tales of (insert title). I've only played Tales of Phantasia. Pretty cool game.
    Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga on the GBA. I'm getting lazy, google/wiki the last 3.
    Valkiria Chronicles. That game is AWESOME! and it may not look like an RPG at first, but it is. Plus GUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNS!
  4. The Heartless King
    The Heartless King The King of Shadows
    I would recommend Dragon Warrior 7 for the PS1. Very good blend of strategic combat system and RPG gameplay. Probably the longest game i've ever played. It takes MONTHS to get like one third through the game if you don't know what your doing. The plot is amazing and the music almost made me die over nastalgia overload. Overall it's the best game i've ever played. You'd have fun with it.
    Golden Sun 1 and Golden Sun the lost age.
    Another one is Rayman the Great Escape for PC nad Rayman 3 for Xbox and something else.
    Also Blinx 2 for XBOX (not Blinx 1 because it sucked)
    Regards from the RPG gamer 4 life Brian
    Play Dragon Quest 8 for Playstation 2. It's a great RPG by Square-Enix!
    What? no one has mentioned Thousand Arms? What's wrong with you people? :p jk
    Thousand Arms is a fav of mine because it has the same concept of light and darkness that Kingdom Hearts does. And some hot chicks to boot ;D Sodina's my fav :D
    Super mario 64 if you would count that as an rpg. Probably not because it's more of a platformer but meh, it's still awesome nonetheless.
    Tales of blank because those are epic
    Golden sun is fun to say the least. I borrowed it froma friend once and loved it.
    And that's about all the RPGs i can think of that i've played in the last while...
    Tales of Symphonia rocks!!!
    Pokemon Mystery Dungeon(s), definately by far one of the best games out there and definately the best pokemon game out there. It made me cry compared to the other pokemon games it's, woo fun play then ehhh
  11. I would highly recommend Dragon Age: Origins. It's for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. The game thoroughly engrossing and very well made. You can choose your own path and actually effect how the world views you and what happens to the world as a result of your choices.
    Another one would be Fable 2. It's kind of short if you just go through it in one sitting but that's kind of impossible. Your choices also effect those around you.
    How does Dragon Age play? I love the story element but the gameplay looks bad.
  13. It plays a little different than the average RPG. It's a little hard to explain but go to IGN.com and get more information on it.
  14. how about Star Ocean:The Last Hope?
  15. I never really found Star Ocean that interesting. It's probably because I get to involved with fantasy RPG games than Sci-Fi ones. What is the gameplay like?
  16. LivingDeath
    LivingDeath Dormina'd
    Maybe you guys have already know this...
    But Persona series are definitely a plus.
    I'd highly recommend getting Dragon Age for PC since you can manage your characters easier. Also
    the game is well suited for the PC than the PS3 or 360. But another good RPG would be Fallout 3 and
    along with the DLC's that came out as well.
