This battle has been effectively engineered by myself and Destiny. However, whether or not it is a one-on-one is completely up to other RPers.

Setting: New York City. The battle will kick off in Times Square, and will be free to move about the city from there.

Character Limitations: All characters put into this battle should be human. They may have special powers/magic-like abilities and weapons; but all must be as such in a manner that is reasonably legitimate (preferably no firearms). In other words, summoning some crazy ars demon from the pits of Hell will not be tolerated. Powers are to be limited to manipulation of matter and energy as per Earthly standards. If you're going to utilize an "element" (ie - air, earth, fire, water), try to contain yourself to the use of one of them. After all, one of them can do a lot of damage, if explained and played the right way.
My Characters Sheet (use this as an example).

    Name: Cassandra Adaril
    Gender: Obviously Female
    Age: 20

    Power:
Electrical/Magnetic Manipulation - Cassandra is able to manipulate the various stems and forces linked to electromagnetc energy/force. In effect, she is able to generate and manipulate electrical discharges and pulses of various degrees of power, ranging from small static shocks, to bolts of lightning (the later of which unfortunately takes charge periods) both through air based particles, or otherwise, directly off her own body. She is able to alter the electromagnetic fields around objects, most efficiently metals and ores, though has been known to be able to produce sufficient alterations so as to make use of magnetic pressure to successfully achieve levitation. She seems to be capable of using this control to generate forcefields sufficient to ward off light matter and energy based projections.
    Weapon:
"Shockwhip" - This weapon is designed similarly to any whip, being made from a flexible weave of tough cords. The whip spans a rough six feet in length, with a stiff handle measuring about a foot. The whip is constructed of a material that acts in a similar manner to an electrical wire, allowing charges to be channeled through it.

((So basically, these are the necessities for the battle. Personality will be achieved throughout the battle, and appearances can be covered in the first post or two)).

  2. Destiny

    Destiny Guest

    name- Onyx McCormick
    gender- male
    age- 24
    personality- throughout the battle
appearence- your average New Yorker/ your average college student/graduate
powers- Fire: Ok so a sort of Human Torch, Onyx has power over fire. Able to manipulate matter and speed up molecules around them forcing them to heat up(and I've watched the Sorcerer's Apprentice way too much) and thus create fire. Not only can he create fire in thin air or cause something to catch fire, his body can heat up itself up to 500C(which is really, really hot in F) allowing the ability to encase his body in flames, though his body cannot maintain 500C for too long and would require a sort of cool down period afterwards. Like a rocket/ jetpack/ etc he can use fire to allow him to fly.

Weapon- Fire Arrows: designed himself upon learning his capabilities, Onyx has created special arrows in which the flames are covered in a special material like coal that burns and does not go out as easily. He does have a limit of number of arrows he has, but he has created many arrows in which he keeps in a special case on his back that is also fire proof so when his body's encased in flames, the arrows don't go to waste and burn.

A man in her early 20's stepped out of her classes at the NYU. His energy was different than the normal students, there was something different about him. He slowly made his way down the street, his hood pulled up over his head. His red, yes red eyes search his surroundings. He was looking, looking for something. He turned into an apartment building and descended the stairs to his apartment. It was a Friday meaning his roommate was not going to be there but at all the different parties.

He slid the key into the keyhole and walked in throwing his back pack onto the couch and pushing the blinking red button on the voicemail.

"Hey Onyx, dude you need to come to the party tonight, screw the studying or whereever you go every night, there's going to be some hot BABES. Plus there's going to be some good stuff to get completely waisted, have you even had a drink since you turned 21? I don't know, nor care, come on, it's at the old warehouse on the Hudson." The voicemail ended left by the man's, Onyx's roommate.

Warehouse on the Hudson, Onyx couldn't help but chuckle, there were about 20 different abandoned warehouses on the Hudson. He knew that because one of them he crossed off as his for training. Training in which he went to every night, the place where he was going now.

Onyx stood in the warehouse. He was wearing some strange black spandex pants and a dark red spandex shirt. The warehouse smelled of smoke. Onyx held his palm up as a huge fireball formed in it quickly and Onyx threw it towards his target, an old oil can. Upon impact the can exploded, but not a very large explosion.

Downtown New York City... It was a massive place, crowded to the brim with anxious people going about a countless number of tasks and errands. After all, there was so much that either had to be done, or otherwise could be done if the mood struck someone. The businessmen and businesswomen had their companies to oversee, even in the last hours of daylight, lest the economic giant cease to draw breath. Tourists and thrillseeking locals alike flooded in and out of shops and restaurants deep into the night. And of course, as large a city it was, the law enforcement riddled its way about every corner of it like clockwork...

It's all just part of the game. As Cassandra watched the scenes of the metropolis lifestyle pass by the cab window, she couldn't help but smirk. She had thought long and hard about her performance that would take place on that very stage. Everyone who bothered to pay attention would be sure to watch her, and those who cared enough would certainly be impressed. These ARE city folk though, she reminded herself. Despite that fact, she thought ahead to it with high hopes. Sure, city dwellers were accustomed to weird things happening, but she... she was something different than the normal weird.

The cab continued its drive, carrying Cassie through the city for several minutes; it had been for about an hour already, as Cassie had given the driver no more than the instruction of finding her a place with a good crowd. Finally, the cab came to a halt along a stretch of city street packed with life, and overlooked by a massive TV screen mounted onto the outside of a building. At this time of the day, the later hours of the evening, it was particularly wondrous, lights shining like stars wherever one might look. "It's magnificent," Cassie exclaimed, just loud enough for the cab driver to hear.

"It certainly is, ma'am," the driver said in a gruff but friendly tone that was both uncommon and surprising coming from such a person; the wonders being able to pay people off worked. "Times Square is a perfect place to be if you want your act to get some streetside attention. I just hope, for your sake, that you've got something big. People here have seen just about everything out of a street act.

"Oh. I'm sure I can get a bit of cheer out of them," Cassie replied, giving the driver a cunning smile. She wrapped a firm and arond the handle of a small briefcase, and swiftly slide herself out of the cab. "The advance payment is enough to cover this, correct?"

"I'd say it should be," the cab driver said before departing.

"That was nice of him," she said as the cab drove away. She walked a short distance, finding a cleared out section of sidewalk, and dropped her suitcase to the ground. Kneeling down next to it, she clicked it open, and removed its contents: a single coil of cord bearing semblane to a whip. Still kneeling, she removed the coat she had been wearing, unveiling the full extent of a "costume" she had prepared for the particular occassion. It was nothing too drastic, and in fact, far from showy; nothing more than a light, neoprene suit, having a look to it that gave it the distant appearance of leather. Most of her body was clothed in this suit, her head and hands being exposed. The last thing she did in preparations was tie her bleached blond hair back into a tight bun.

"Ladies and gentlemen," she called to the passerbys, some who took a passing glance at her only to move on with disinterest. Seeing the need to start with a display, Cassie let off a charge of electricity, similar to the display of a plasma ball, dispersing from her very finger tips. "Please, stop, and behold, the amazing Valkyrie!"

Onyx leaned against a crate and listened to the radio as it played songs. He drank more of the water only for it to steam in his mouth. He wiped away the small water molecules around his mouth getting ready to go back to training before stopping and listening to a caller on the radio.

"So let me get this straight, there's a strange electric act in Town Square?" The radio host asked.

"Man, she's scary, she created electricity with her own hands!" The caller exclaimed.

"Ok... well there you have it folks, if you're bored, shock girl's in Town Square now for another song from Linkin' Park." The radio host stated.

'Electric girl?' Onyx thought to himself before thinking to himself and grinning. "Sounds interesting, might as well check it out." He said aloud before leaving the warehouse and he pushed of the ground flames extending like a rocket from his shoes.

Slowly he landed on a platform in townsquare completely oblivious to any people below. He slowly climbed down onto the busy side walk, people staring at some girl in some strange costume.

For all intents and purposes, Cassie's act was going all too well. From the first instance of her power display, she had the attention of a small group of passerby. Just as she had predicted, even the city-hardened men and women had a lot to find in her; she was set apart from the other street performers in that her act was real, which could only serve as an advantage. She knew that her time in the limelight here would only last for so long, but that was of no concern to her in that moment. Once she had dried up her own worth in New York, she could move on to another city, where no one would have seen her, though hopefully, heard of her.

She spent nearly half an hour entertaining the crowd with the standard "lightning fingers" trick. This trick, all the ones she had up her sleeve, boasted the least lifespan when it came to keeping peoples' attention. She could personally spend hours shooting electricity from her fingers up into the sky and still be in love with it, she really could. But that was only because she knew very well how real it was; with an audience, they could never buy the true nature of her abilities without a fuller display that left them in zero disbelief.

Silent, and brooding, she smiled at her captive audience. With a slow, graceful motion, she drew her hands in towards her chest, pulling the cackling charged streams along. For a few seconds, she held the energy in an orb between her hands in front of her chest. With another smile, and wink, aimed randomly at a young man who had just joined with the audience, she pulled her hands apart with a tearing force, dispersing the energy. The small electrical bolts flew off to either side of her, darting between the spectators. The display was quick to cause panic, though the majority of it grudgingly subsided to more excitement when everyone realized that no one had been hurt.

"Sorry. Sorry," she said in a reassuring tone. "It's all part of the show."

Onyx looked closer realizing someone could have. Onyx walked closer to speak to her.

"Watch it you could have hurt someone, turn down your generator or something!" Onyx exclaimed. He looked at her then noticed something. There were no generators, she only had a briefcase. Her costume didnt have any wires or anything neiter.

'This girl can't possibly... Can she? Who is this girl?' He thought to himself.

"I think this show is over." Onyx stated with most intimidation he could muster up to try to speak to her alone.

((Darian is alright. Roaringflames, we're actually trying to go for a more Earth-based system in terms of what our characters' powers entail)).

"I think this show is over."

Cassie threw the young man a sharp glare, not of anger, but of amusement. Were she not as rounded of a performer as she was, she might have been pushed to anger with such an intrusion. But as it was, she WAS seasoned in her performing, and knew more than well how to deal with hecklers and intruders. After a second of glaring, she softened her stare, and gave the young man a friendly smile. "Oh!" she said, keeping her output to the audience's interests. "On the contrary, my good sir! This show is just getting started. The Amazing Valkyrie still has a wealth of tricks up her sleeve." Turning away from the man, she faced the rest of her audience. "The show," she stated, "WILL go on!"

"On the contrary for the safety of these people, the show shall not. Plus I'd like to see your New York liscense for this street performance." Onyx stated as he walked forward and lowered his voice.

"You do not want to make me mad so don't go trying to spark something." Onyx turned towards the people.

"There's nothing to see here, please move on." He shouted his voice that of what would be expected from a police officer breaking off a crowd around a store robbery or such. The people slowly all walked off. He turned around and looked at the girl his eyes turning orangish red as if there were a candle behind his eyes causing their coloring.

"Who are you and how are you doing your tricks?" He demmanded an answer getting impatient with the young woman.

Will strode through the dirty streets of New York, looking for a fight like he normally did after he got off of work. The only difference was he didn't feel like getting smashed before strolling today. As he strode through the street he heard of people talking about some sort of electric magician doing a street show about three blocks down. As he neared the area he heard voices but only snippets of the conversation. "Show WILL go on... Nothing... see, move along..." Will grinned as he heard this. "Hmm... sounds like an argument brewing, which means street fights." He chuckled.

Aliyah was sitting on the bench in the park. "Ugh...New York is so...lively...I hate it!" She said. Aliyah crossed her legs as the wind blew. Aliyah looked around hoping to find someone to fight. "Today is getting boring theres no one to fight, and im getting hungry." Aliyah said as she got off the bench and began walking out of the park. As Aliyah left out the park she saw a pizza palor and began walking towards it.

Ever since the first sounding of his voice, Cassie had drawn up her initial picture of the man. At first, she had seen him as nothing more than a displeased spectator. He might have even been a heckler wannabe; it wouldn't have been the first time someone had cut her short in mid-performance. But then again, normally a heckler would be more fun to engage, and they would never have blatantly asserted her show to be over anyways. So she pinned him as a killjoy, if anything, and was fittingly displeased with his handling of the situation. She could only watch in frustration as the crowd gave into his strong words and dispersed back unto the streets.

"Art," Cassie exclaimed, "needs no license to flourish! The right to expression and show in a world such as ours can't be enforced by a slab of plastic, or a sheet of paper!" She sauntered up close to the man, maintaining a sharp contact between her eyes and his. She could see he wasn't impressed by her performance, and probably wasn't much more impressed by her explanation. She didn't care much about the crowds that had been lost to her thanks to his intervention; they had become old news in naught but a few seconds. What really mattered in the then and there was exacting her payback at him for cutting into her stage time. "And my tricks," she added on, raising her right hand to head level, "are magic. And a good magician NEVER reveals their secrets."

At the end of her sentence, she threw her raised hand forward in a whipping motion. A small dose of electricity shot forward from the tips of her fingers, shooting towards the young man's chest. The distance between them was small, owing to the compacted gathering in which Cassie had been showing off. A full grown man, of course, would have no challenge in resisting such a basic maneuver. He'd be distracted at best, but that would be more than enough for what Cassie needed to do. Backtracking towards her suitcase, she bent over, scooping up a rolled up weave of thick cords, and bore it before the man as a whip. "Won't you have this dance?"

Onyx saw the shock and jumped back.

"I don't need to know your secret, let me guess, you're an elemental." Onyx whispered. Onyx watched the woman carefully when she picked up the whip.

He looked around and closed his eyes his entire body encased in flames.

"Don't mind if I do." He stated arms crossed waiting for her reaction when she'd turn around and see him.

Will strode into the city square and saw one man covered in fire and a woman with what seemed to be a live electrical wire in front of her. As he slowed his pace he grinned as he watched the fight to see what would unfold. He was within their sight but not within striking distance unless one of them had a projectile he didn't see. He slowly was inching forward, cracking his knuckles and readying himself in case he needed to fight them. "I heard there was a street show around, you guys the performers?" He called, chuckling because from the looks on their faces and their attire he would guess the woman was the performer and the man had broke the show up.
