    The hooded man held Kuro's shoulders.
    "You are meant for great things, boy. Don't let that stupid girl, Sora stop you. She will bring you down. You must stop your feelings towards her"
    The man's hands oozed a gas of darkness which rubbed over his shoulders, causing the boy's eyes to turn black for a slight moment and then back to brown.
    "Yes, sir" Kuro replied.
    The man turned away with a grin but it suddenly turned into an abrupt snarl.
    "--but who are you?"
    The man turned back around to him.
    "I am your father, Kuro. I was able to escape. I want what's best for you. That girl was always making you miserable. I could see it in your eyes. You were fighting over her, weren't you?"
    Kuro nodded but looked down at the ground, looking at the tear drop still marked on the sand.
    "I was but it doesn't matter anymore. I don't care about her. Nobody cared about me, even if they said they did. Did they stop those fights? No. Did they ask how I was on that gummi ship? No" Kuro told him.
    "That's good. She is best forgotten. I must leave you for now son. I need to find your mother"
    And then he disappeared and Kuro stared at the ocean, just watching the waves go by along with his love for Sora. They were drifting apart, no longer inseparable.

    I see she's lost it again.

    Zeije had expected an outburst from Kilana the minute he started speaking; expected it, but hadn't quite considered any of the ramifications. As she raged at him, his face contorted into a twisted scoffing expression, as he commenced to finally throw back the hood on his cloak. This action was soon followed through on with the full removal of the cloak, which fluttered down into the sand, where the wind gusts threatened to yield it to the sandstorm. He stood in a standoff with her, her having taken an open stance, and then a more discrete one. Throughout, Zeije maintained an outward stance, ready for what he saw as an inevitable clash. While refraining from drawing either of his blades, he flashed his clawed gauntlets before his chest.

    "If you want to have a taste, then by all means, sink your teeth in," he said. I just hope, for your sake, that you enjoy the taste of cold metal against your tongue. Well? If you're so hungry, then take a bite, you little glutton! But I can guarantee you that you'll not be satisfying yourself with my flesh and heart."

    He began to make the voluntary motion forward, an attempt to strike his female comrade. However, his charge was immediately impeded. Not by any physical barrier or force, but by a sound, eerily, and annoyingly pitched, echoing in a manner that the desert landscape should not have allowed. It was laughter, that much was unmistakable from the moment it started. Only few seconds after, it was clear who was laughing, for only one other person could have such a piercing cry of amusement. "Junko," Zeije muttered, as the other female revealed herself. Instantly, his stance shifted to one ready to take on an outburst from two sides. One arm was held at the ready for Junko, a small concentration of Dark power held before an out-facing palm, the other with is gauntlet ready to block a strike from Kilana.

    "Correction," he spat at Junko, pulling off a slight sneer, in the hopes of dashing her beliefs. "You found nothing but mere intrigue, so far. You talk as though you've solved our dilemma, but have you really? The answer remains a "no." You found a young girl, whom you've merely conjectured to be the necessity for unlocking Kingdom Hearts. For all we know, she could just be another false lead, like all the other ones we've had the misfortune of coming across. The name of a legendary hero means little; that's what people do with their children. They name them after some legends from ages passed, until they can find new ones to embroider the young ones with. And I certainly put my work into our operations on Traverse Town. If plans hadn't changed, there would have been no one leaving there for a long while."

    Sei flinched for an instant, and Sora had already gone far ahead of him. The young adult dashed down the path in an attempt to catch up, but to no avail. He had already lost track of her. And the paths only multiplied.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Kilana heard Junko and turned to face the girl almost immediately, a grimace of hatred upon her face. The woman nearly assaulted the heartless right there, if it weren't for the fact that Zeije was just a moment too quick on the draw and began talking. His retort made her grin internally, thinking that she couldn't possible come up with a good response to it. She added, with a gleeful cackle, "And you can love as long as you're not HEARTLESS!" poking at both her teammate's natures. "Little girl, you're just a scout! A mere grunt! Arcanus trusts me to kill those that would speak ill of him!"
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Sei was lost. He lost track of Sora, and he had no idea at all where Kuro went.

    And the only way this can get worse is- He began thinking, though he was interrupted by an abrupt drop in the terrain. He looked up as he was falling and noticed that it was a portal he fell through. To where, he wondered, was a fantastic question. He was stranded on a platform, circular in shape and covered in what seemed to be dust. No, not dust, but

    Ash. Sei thought, sweeping a handful of it. The moment his hand touched it, the platform erupted into light, the sides becoming flame and the ash blowing away from the sudden hot air. It was a mosaic of a torch, with darkness spiraling towards it and light spiraling outwards from it.

    "Th' heck?" Sei asked aloud, a voice in the emptiness responding,

    Fire. . . Creator of both light and dark. Will you serve as a beacon for the light? Or could you serve as a catalyst for the depths of night? It is your choice to decide, young one. What will you fight for?

    Sei awoke on the edge of a beach. Realizing where he was, he skittered away from the waves' reach, only to turn around and bump into Sora.

    With a sheepish grin, he greeted, "Oh, hi. I had a trippy experience. How about- Please tell me I'm just crazy and not actually seeing a giant black monster," and then proceeded to pull his knife out.

    "That, little girl, is a Darkside heartless." Arcanus' voice echoed out, even though nobody knew it was him. "Because you are the key, you will be in danger. So this heartless is presented to you, as a target for you to fight. Make the heartless your enemies. Destroy the darkness that they come from."

    ------

    "Silence." Arcanus' voice echoed out across the Badlands. "All three of you have your own skills to use. That is why you each have different assignments. The time is coming. The girl has been pointed in the proper direction. She is currently the piece to the puzzle. And if she fails, then we'll just wait for the next one to reveal themself."

    Sora looked at Sei and heard the voice.

    "No Sei you're not crazy." She stated. The darkside heartless threw it's at them to force them back. "Run!" Sora exclaimed but the path wad blocked with an invisible wall. "Well... I guess we have to fight." Sora stated holding the metal bar tightly. She ran and attacked the heartless but nothing happened as she was thrown back.

    The process was repeated and growing tiredly. "Nothing's happening when we attack!" Sora exclaimed.

    'One cannot fight darkness without light. You must reach for the light.' The voice spoke in her head.

    "Reach for the light?" Sora restated what she heard aloud. She closed her eyes and could see a small light which she reached out to grab. Though she saw it her eyes closed the metal bat in her outstretched hand glowed and began to change.

    Sora opened her eyes as a large wave of light exploded from the once metal bat. The bat was now a great weapon shaped like a key with an elegant design, the same as the one on the mosaic design.

    "A... Keyblade..." Sora stated surprised.

    Kuro stared at the oceans, unsure on how to escape. He was sitting there for hours.
    "What am I going to do?"
    "Follow the darkness inside you. Create a path. Focus on a destination"
    Kuro, even though he was told he was not right to be with Sora, still worried about her. He closed his eyes and imagined where she would be. He was also worried about Sei but to be honest, not so much. He was always an acquaintance to him while he focused clearly on his relationship with her. He felt a deeper connection to her. While thinking about Sora, a whirling cauldron like portal fell on top of him and as he opened his eyes, he was on a beach. He heard something he never did before; the sound of waves. It was beautiful. This did not last for long as the sharp sound of the heartless stomping over the ground caused him to change direction to the left. He immediately noticed Sora amongst the chaos with a keyblade in hand. It immediately summoned itself pointed towards her, trying to urge him forward. The black blade was trying to pull him over to her. Was it because he wanted to help or was it for the fact that she was light and he was darkness? Did the keyblade want to harm her? Without hesitation, he wanted to help her and sprinted by Sora's side, almost ignoring Sei.
    "Hey!"
    He turned towards the darkside and readied for battle.

    Arcanus appeared in the badlands near all of the bad guys as they were getting ready to fight. "Cease your bickering." He commanded. "You three fighting amongst yourselves is for lower life forms. Not ones such as yourselves. More importantly, the girl has been given a direction. Fight the darkness. In addition to that, one of her companions struggles between the light and the darkness. He will have some purpose to serve later on. But for now we present ourselves as the girl's main goal, all the while subtly pulling her friend back and forth between the light."

    -----

    Several Neoshadow heartless crawled out of the ground, getting in between Kuro and Sora. They readied themselves to attack him.

    Sora looked at the neoshadows. She without hesitation and swung at the neoshadows they immediately disappeared when the blade touched them.

    "We have to get out of here!" Sora exclaimed. She looked at the bigger heartless and ran forward and attacked. It didn't get defeated so easily like the other heartless.

    "Kuro, Sei!" Sora exclaimed. She looked back at them before getting thrown back at the invisible wall. "We need to get out of here, I fear more of these heartless will show up." Sora stated slowly standing up.

    Sei wasn't the least bit surprised when Kuro rushed to Sora's side, and not his. After all, the two guys were only good friends at best, wheras Sei could clearly see the chemistry between his other two friends. Upon hearing Sora's plan, he grinned for a few seconds.

    "Awesome plan. One problem - where? We're on a flipping beach and they are on the mainland side! And I'm telling you now, there is NO WAY that I'm going to start swimming anytime soon!" He complained, trying to ignite his dagger, but to no avail.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "Eeheehee!" Kilana giggled gleefully, running over and clinging onto Arcanus's arm like a giddy schoolgirl. "Whatever you say, Master! Your wish is my command!"
    Kuro noticed the panic in his two friends' faces. He was too afraid of the heartless but it was time to prove himself.
    "We need to get out of here, I fear more of these heartless will show up."
    "Awesome plan. One problem - where? We're on a flipping beach and they are on the mainland side! And I'm telling you now, there is NO WAY that I'm going to start swimming anytime soon!"
    He ran up to his friends and knew what he had to do. With his new powers in darkness and focusing his heart on it, Kuro's hands emitted in black energy and a whirlpool of darkness formed in the water. Without second thought, he pushed them inside and turned back around towards the onslaught of heartless. He didn't know where it would lead them but he knew they'd be safe for a while. Kuro knew he wouldn't be able to fight them but he summoned his keyblade and faced the darkside with new found strength. He stared into the yellow eyes and instantly he saw a vivid, blurred image of a world devastated, killed and sent into chaos. A laugh echoed in his mind; it sounded evil and cruel. He witnessed the streets he lived in, the gizmo shop, the people and his house be ripped in a tremendous wind. It broke apart the land and brought it to ruin. Only one square remained in the world; the Second District and from the waterfall at the end of it, a keyhole was losing its glow, not able to carry on. Traverse Town was destroyed and a hatred formed within Kuro as he stared at the darkside and the heartless crowding around it.
    "Yes, feel that hatred; consume it!" he heard his father in his mind.
    Kuro's body glowed green as the boy rampaged towards the darkside. He jumped and sent a blow towards the medusa like head, it stirred and fell down to the ground. Soon the darkness faded into the sand, turning it black with the heart being sent into the air. As the other heartless crowded around Kuro, the boy summoned a second keyblade, Oblivion. He swung violently at the heartless around him, as his eyes turned beaming yellow. The keyblades whirled around him as if it was battling by its own accord and like a hurricane, nothing was left. The wave of heartless were vanquished. When Kuro stopped fighting the heartless, his eyes changed back to brown and the green glow trickled away. His skin turned pale and without any more energy left inside him, he fell into the dark portal and landed next to his friends, on the ground pale, white and cold.
    Sora hit the ground her keyblade sliding ahead of her. Slowly she lifted her body and went to grab the keyblade, only for it to reappear in her hand. She looked aroun.
    "Sei, you ok?" She asked then she turned to see Kuro land next to her. He looked sickly I'll.
    "Kuro!" She exclaimed lifting him up. "We need to find help..." She stated looking around their surrounding.
    In some ways this new world they were one was like Traverse Town, however much more advance yet old fashion almost. The huge difference was it was day out versus eternal night. Sora looked closer and remembered seeing pictures from her parents past.
    The city built around a castle, technology that fought off intruders of the heartless and nobodies... They were in Radiant Garden.
    "Hey! Who are you three, what are you doing?" Sora looked up to see a small young boy with black hair with a girl with long brown hair rolling her eyes.
    "We're a bunch of travelers, please our friend is hurt." Sora stated.
    "we don't like travelers here, they only destroy out city and bring creatures of evil. As great descendant of Yuffie and the greatest ninja here in Radiant Garden, I, Yusoko, will eniliate you!" The boy Yusoko stated. Sora held the keyblade ready to fight when the girl stopped and grabbd Yusoko.
    "Yusoko, stop! She's a keyblader!" the girl shouted. Yusoko looked and was awe "Our friend should be able to help your friend, great keyblade traveler, please follow us." the girl explained. She started to lead the way as Sora attempted to get her friend, Kuro up and walking. "My name is Yumi, I'm Yusoko's cousin, I'm sure you've probably heard of my great grandfather Leon." The girl stated.
    "Yeah in the Sora, legends. My name is Sora, sort of named after the keyblader in legends." Sora told her.
    "Oh so your parents knew you were going to be a keyblader? Did you take part in a keyblade inheritance ceremony?" Yumi asked. Sora shook her head.
    "No it just sort of came to me on it's own, I guess. Anyways that's Sei and this is Kuro." Sora told her. "so who can help Kuro?" Sora asked.
    "Our friend an leader of Radiant Garden Protection Organization, he's a very old wizard, he knew Sora in person, his name is Merlin. He's a tad strange but cool, smart, and still acts young." Yusoko stated.
    Junko rolled her eyes as Kilana leapt to hold onto Arcanus arm. 'She'd never make it a true heartless, she's an emotional wreck.' Junko thought to herself.
    "What do you suggest we do, after all she's obviously not that strong now but do we really want to let her become stronger so when we go to acquire her as the key, she'll fight us?" Junk stated.
    "My liege!" The effect Arcanus' arrival in the Badlands had on Zeije was instantaneous. He dropped his guarded pose towards Kilana, and as well dispersed the energy he had concentrated for Junko. As soon, it seemed, as he had done that, he lowered himself down to one knee, giving his superior a respectful bow. "I apologize for this unbecoming attitude. It was my doing, in the long run." Rising to his feet, he added, below his breath, "I can't help it if I'm the only one of us three that holds any sense of honor and pride." Working to make what he was sure was eye contact with Arcanus, he spoke again, though more audibly. "So then we're pursuing this one as well? And we might scoop someone new into out ranks? Sound well and good.
    "However," he added, throwing Junko a glance out of his periphery, "I have already expressed my... errr... concerns with these two. As I recall, we've not had too much luck lately as far as our leads go. For all we know this could be no more than another false lead, a trail to nowhere; at least, nowhere we want to be going. Surely there's a way, a method of sorts that we've neglected thus far, that could clue us in as to whether or not our assumptions are accurate. I mean, there must be something short of take and test for us to use, so we don't, you know, continue to expend ourselves so heedlessly on unnecessary matters."
    He took a second for a breath, and added on, "and in the event that we CAN find out by some other means than practice, and we CAN be certain that this girl is the one, then I say we use her before she gets too powerful, and then be rid of her. The way it seems, once we get what we're working for, there won't be much of anything to stand in our way. We'll be unstoppable, assuming it all works out as planned, and this Kingdom Hearts graces us with its bounty." Upon finishing, he glance around at the others, looking sharply at Jun and Kilana, and hopefully at Arcanus. All he could do was hope that the latter would see the sense in his ideas, and the other two would restrain themselves from decking him for suggesting something that would keep their leashes short. "Just, if it's possible," he tacked onto the end.
    "As much as I would love to use her as the key as she is now, her heart isn't strong enough." Arcanus told the group. "Her heart isn't yet at the strength that I require. The fastest, and potentially only way to strengthen her heart is to make her fight. And your concerns about her not being the proper one is nothing. She has awakened a keyblade. Keyblade wielders just need to be pushed in the proper direction to reveal Kingdom Hearts. It has been done before, and this time we will be the ones doing it. If worse comes to worse, and the girl fails us... Well I have other plans set up just in case this one doesn't work like I have set out."
    Kuro's father looked on at the proceedings and sighed.
    "The darkness overpowered him. Looks like he needs more training"
    Kuro abruptly woke up as his father clenched his hands in dark energy. He was frantically looking around for the cause of his awakening. He clenched his heart. It felt as though it was burning and something was feeding on the insides. He stared at Sora like a squirrel looking at an incoming car light. It turned yellow for a little while and turned back to blue.
    "What's happening to me!?" he gasped. He felt sad but he didn't cry. He felt scared but his heart wasn't pounding for that reason. Something was definitely wrong.
    Sora looked at him surprised and looked over at the two natives.
    "He's in here." Yumi stated opening the door. A few people turned around to look. A man in his 20's with blonde hair was the first to approach them.
    "Who are you three?" He demmanded.
    "Cid, they're keybladers." Yumi stated. "Their one friend is hurt, where's Merlin?" She asked. Suddenly a puff of smoke appeared with a man waving his hand to disperse the smoke away.
    "Aw, I'm assuming you're Sora. I had a friend tell me you would be coming." He stated. Sora blinked confused.
    "How do you know my name?" She asked.
    "My friend, a sorcerer named Yen Sid. We as such powerful magicians we'll say are quite knowledgable, we know all about the legend you're mentioned in. Legend many thought the first Sora would be, but the legends says she." Merlin stated quickly. "Now let's help your friend out." He stated as Yusoko helped Sora lay Kuro onto the bed.
    Merlin started to look over him and looked interested and concern about something.
    "Do the two of you know about the great darkness?" Merlin asked them. Sora shook her head and looked over at Sei to see if he had a clue.
    Kuro laid on the bed and closed his eyes. He felt the strain of his muscles from his previous fight but as he fell to sleep, the black keyblade formed in his hands with its edge held up towards Merlin.
    His father stood outside with his arms crossed, grinning behind his black cloak.
    "He is finally reaching his full potential" he grunted. "...but I must distract these fools so he would lose the trust of his friends" he thought afterwards.
    Suddenly heartless sprang from within his hands and unleashed themselves like lions from their cage. The heartless then tackled a boy down to the ground who originally had an ice cream in his hand. It was blue. The boy screamed as the cloaked father of Kuro faded away inside a portal. The screams followed in a chain of events as they sprang out towards the marketplace. They seemed to multiply in size, swarming the area.
    Sei watched as the events quickly spiraled out of his control. Though, he never had control to begin with. So, he just stuck back and enjoyed the ride. The ride which promptly ended when Sora looked to him for his knowledge on the subject.
    "Eh," He began, "I never really heard anything about this whole 'great darkness' thing. Though I could have sworn Mom mentioned something like it once or twice. Can't remem- Kuro, you okay? And what's with the fancy sword?"
    He noticed Kuro's sword-waving antics, but was rather oblivious to the fact that Kuro had fallen asleep again.
    "Uh, dude, you alright?" He asked the boy, poking him in the arm. He turned to his other Traverse Town teammate and said, "This is kinda weird. What's up with Kuro?"
    Screams soon penetrated his ears, faint at first, but steadily getting closer. Sei facepalmed. "Aw, come on! We just got here! Can't we have five minutes of traveling without trouble?" He complained.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Kilana looked up at Arcanus, smiling eagerly.

    "So, do we wait now? And if she's not the one, can I eat her?" She asked.

    Junko nodded understanding what he stated.

    "So we just send her challenges. I like the idea, we'll have to keep an eye on her." Junko stated. Junko looked over at Kilana and rolled her eyes.

    "I could see a bigger use for her than you eating her if she fails. She has a strong heart, take her heart you create a powerful heartless and powerful nobody both at our command." Junko said grinning.

    Sora looked around hearing the screams.

    "The Town Defense Mechanism isn't working neither..." Cid grumbled.

    "That means Connor could be in trouble!" Yusoko exclaimed. "We need to get to the castle." Yusoko stated running out the door Yumi following him.

    "You two able to take care of the threat in town?" Cid asked before running out leaving them with no option.

    "We haven't exactly been keybladers long!" Sora exclaimed. She felt Merlin's hand on her shoulder.

    "You can face them. I'll look after your friend." Merlin stated. Sora nodded.

    "We'll be right back, Kuro." Sora stated not a huge fan of the blade Kuro had. She hurried out the door her keyblade appearing noticing the heartless. She could sense some sort of darkforce near by too. She looked back at Sei.

    "Well, ready?" Sora asked him.

    Kuro's eyes flickered open as Merlin was staring at the book shelf, searching frantically for something. Kuro's eyes blinked yellow and then the color became constant. That was when he stood up with the black keyblade in hand.
    "I want you to tell me why this is happening to me. I know who you are. You were in one of those books" he queried with his voice sounding corrupted and deep.
    Merlin sharply turned around with his eyes widened. He seemed afraid.
    "Why are you looking at me like that?" Kuro asked. "I'm not a freak"
    Merlin hummed a word from his mouth and waved his wand but the only thing that happened was a puff of purple smoke.
    "WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME!?" Kuro screamed, as he lurched towards him, slamming the old man towards the book shelf. Merlin sat still, as the boy grabbed him.
    "I'll give you once last chance. What is wrong with me?"
    "Someone may have control of you"
    "Who? Where can I find him!?"
    Merlin looked down. "I don't know who he is. Yen Sid and I haven't discovered that yet"
    Suddenly Kuro's father appeared from a portal behind Merlin, grabbed Kuro's black keyblade and stabbed him. He smiled as he looked as his son.
    "My dear boy, its in your genes. There is nothing wrong with who you are. Its the balance of life and soon, Sora will become your enemy just like Merlin and I"
    Merlin fell to the ground, clasping his heart.
    "Why would you do this Kuro?" Merlin asked, now seeing the keyblade in the boy's hand. His father disappeared and now Merlin thought it was him. Before, Kuro could answer, the wizard closed his eyes. His wand then changed into a sphere of black, a sphere of dark energy.
    "Take it Kuro. This is the power of your keyblade. It can extract hearts, energy or can evolve someone from the darkness. This is your destiny; the destiny Riku could never fulfill. Step up to this power and become powerful. You are no longer weak"
    The keyblade acted upon its self and punctured through the sphere of energy, making the darkness flow towards Kuro like a river rapid. He now had the powers of a once great magician. He was now a master magician. Kuro just stood in that spot, unable to compromise what happened. Why was this happening to him? Why was he the darkness? He hated it. Kuro decided to run away from the pale dead body of the magician. He didn't care anymore. He just had to get away from this madness. He didn't want Sora to see him ever again. He was a monster and would only bring ruin. They were now enemies but she was the one he loved. He wanted to fight for her but couldn't. Her enemy and himself were the same thing, darkness. He ran up the bailey and continued to sprint through the purple valleys of Radiant Gardens towards the old castle. The heartless castle.

    ((I think I've been holding you guys back. So here we go again)).

    Just great… shot down already.

    “Well then. That’s one bump in the road flattened out.” Zeije’s voice was dulled and dried with distaste. No, he wasn’t disappointed by the proceedings that had been divulged unto him. To the contrary, the more potential the girl showed, the better it suited him. It was Junko who would be shot his next glare of contempt. He had had her cornered before, and so suddenly, his backlash toward her was rendered folly. Arcanus had proven her right, and Zeije could simply not help but feel like he had been knocked down a peg for it. Giving a rolling of his neck, which was really both a nod and a shake, he further contemplated the situation.

    And so it comes to this?

    They were close, or so it seemed; so close that they’d be fools to not hit their mark, and even more so to not take the shot entirely. However, it all came down not to their power as individuals, but to their cohesiveness as a team. Somehow, he realized, that he, Jun, and Kilana would have to make it through without leaving each other as mere craters. Personally, he wasn’t too sure he’d be able to make it through too many more adventures without bringing his blade to either of his two female comrades. Their minds were barbaric, to say the least about it, lusting after mere thought of power. What were they fighting for? Nothing worth having, that could be certain.

    But then, what am I fighting for? Certainly it’s more than them. No. It’s incontrovertibly more than them.

    “She’ll be the one,” Zeije said, even before he had thought of what he was saying. He was even largely unaware of his relinquishing of his previous stance. Before he knew it, he was lost in a rant of externalized thoughts. “She’ll be the one we’ve been searching for. I’ll be sure of it! Been waiting far too long for her not to be.
