    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

Well, I ended up becoming addicted to the Dissidia 012 song that I wanted to make pictures that goes with the lyrics. Well, the first pic I made is Feral Chaos to go along with the first part of the lyrics:

Gone in a second, ultimate destruction
    Gods are warring, sorrow neverending
    Endless chaos for an eternity
    Welcome to the abyss

Well, it is supposed to be chaotic so if it looks messy, I am sorry. I will make some more.

I had to gaze at the sig for like a minute to see what the hell was going on in it.

It's way too messy (even thought that was what you're going for), I don't know what's going on there even thought that I somehow can see Chaos there but otherwise, just no.

    It doesn't just work.

Yea. Well, I can see what is going on but I was really aiming for something that shows chaos to an extent so I just use some flames glows in the background but I guess that is where the messiness came from but I was still content with it because I was able to bring out that creativity that I was able to picture.

Anyways, I was actually relating Sorceress Edea and Ultimecia to the second line, which actually made sense to me since Ultimecia was fooling everyone through Edea and her Time Compression was threatening everything that was peaceful.I do not know if words are better with the second one or not so I will show you two versions. This is my second time using black and white so I am not an expert on that field.

    Backwater town where nothing happens
    Don't let disguises fool you
    Evil is coming from everywhere
Destroying all that we believe is good

The messiness doesn't just come from the "flames" that you've put there (I can't picture any of them, or whatever is going in the background), the whole picture is messy and it just doesn't work. I've seen better of your work, where did it disappear?

Well, not saying that the Chaos picture is one of my best. The Leblanc signature that I am using and have used to be competed in the SOTW 2 competition is better than that. I have a copy of it saved anyways so I can always go back and take away what was wrong. I need to tone down on the brightness a little bit on Chaos anyways. What about the Ultimecia/Edea picture? Anything that needs work on that? -_- Now I hope that this one is not messy. I am working on a Sephiroth signature next.

  6. Well I can see Desperado in the first one but like Noz said it's too dark and a bit messy for a real good look, second one creeps me out a bit but it's good.

I didn't say it was too dark. All I said was that it was just way too messy.

Don't put words in my mouth, plz.

Um... may I please have some critiques on the Ultimecia signature please? I did not bother starting on the Sephiroth part of God in Fire because I want to know what all of you think about the second picture.

  10. Add a bit more distinguished contrast and don't forget the dark to light with shading, if you really want to make it amazing add the complement to your original, or go with the intermediary feel but definitely add a bit more contrast the background and main design aren't totally balanced either try fixing that if possible, add to it use impressionism if you must but I'm really focused on the contrast. It's good though nice job Brandon.

The God in Fire sig, as has been said, is a real mess. I seriously can't tell what is happening in there at all. Not good.

As for the Ultimecia sig, well, let's see. I think the image of Ultimecia is distorted. It looks like you resized it and it got out of whack somewhere. The background here is also very messy. Text doesn't add anything to the piece. Awkward placing. Personally, I usually don't like having more than one image in a sig. I think it's hard to balance it all and make it look good. And in this case, I think the addition of Edea adds to the confusion.

When doing black and white sigs, I actually make them that way towards the end. I work on the sig in a normal way, adding color with the brushing and smudging, and so on, then at the end slap on a black and white gradient map. I'm not sure how exactly GIMP does all that, but maybe it might help the look of the sig if you try it that way. Might be a better way to get some lighting and depth. Unless you started with black and white images.

Edea was already in black and white. ??? Are you sure that Ultimecia is distorted. I sure don't think so and I never did add any distortions to her in any way. I think I used saturation to turn her itno the black & white version. Also, I worked with Ultimecia on a different file, copied her and used her as though she is already a color through a different button on Gimp and put her along with Edea.

??? And how come the background is messy? Not as messy with Chaos (Which I did intentionally with that one). I played around with the background and found ice a very neat background, since it looks like the spotlight is on Edea but I think the reason why the background look messy to you is because I think I made Ultimecia a little bit too black.

As for me, I changed the way I do my pictures and background now. Since I was lacking in depth, I was trying to find a way to obtain more depth, so I work on two different tabs and combine them together and see if that works. If not, I try it again but in a different way. That was how I did on the black and white. ??? I will take the smudging into account.

I will work on Sephiroth now that I have finally have some criticism on the second picture. -_- Gosh. Maybe I should have stayed with the alternative.

Looks that way on my comp.

Because there's just stuff going on everywhere. Black and white and gray are just everywhere. I don't know how else to describe it. It's an amateur background. Not really much depth, either, except for the fact that you can tell that Edea is in the background whereas Ultimecia is in the foreground.
