Kuro's eyes suddenly changed from brown to yellow, as he looked at the onslaught of heartless and exchanged looks at Sora. He wanted to look after her for as long as possible before the darkness could consume him. Before Kuro could run towards the sea of black, however, the old man stepped in the way, holding the body of Yen Sid in his hands. The heartless bowed down to their master but in the front, they begged at his feet for the body of Yen Sid. With a smirk, the man threw Yen Sid into the black ocean of heartless behind him.

Kuro became furious at the man of darkness. He started to swing his keyblade wildly but Xehenort easily dodged his attacks.
"Who are you!?" he shouted, frustrated at the imposter of his father.
"I am Master Xehenort. Why don't you let out that anger inside of you? After all, I did kill your parents" he told Kuro with a smile. Wings started to form on Kuro's shoulders from the clouds of darkness surrounding him. The boy suddenly zoomed forward, angry at Xehenort. He tackled him through the walls of the Mysterious Tower, causing it to shift to the right. The building was falling off its hinges. It now lost its power because of the death of Yen Sid. The imbalanced building was unstable and unsupported by his presence. Kuro and Xehenort went down to the grass, which was now burning in fire. The heartless surrounding them started to swarm on Kuro as Xehenort was beginning to get up. Kuro, in his heavy armor, stood up fairly quickly and before the shadow heartless could grab onto his legs, he leapt up in the air with his wings and sent a shockwave of flames around him but among the hearts floating in the air, Xehenort stood unharmed. Kuro watched as layers of ice fell from Xehenort's keyblade and were sent hurtling towards him. Kuro ducked one blast and then a second. Out of breath from the energy he exerted, he was beginning to shift from right to left. He was thirsty and out of water. He felt his arms urging him to go down to his sides but then she came to her mind; his light, Sora. WIth a deep breath, he ran towards the Master Keyblader and fell into the dark pool surrounding his feet and reappeared behind Xehenort in another dark pool, created by the heartless. Kuro struck from behind the Master, creating a gash in his robe.
"HOW DARE YOU!?"
Before Kuro could catch another breath, Xehenort struck Kuro in the chest, with a vertical slash. The armor was split in two and the skin torn on his body. The slash on his skin turned blue and the blue color of his skin, grew up to his head. The cold temperature of his blood caused his body to turn to ice.

In the tumbling building with blocks falling from the top floor, was an ogre like heartless with a club in hand. It stomped up the marble stepped stairs, crumbling them into dust with each step and some heartless to go along with it. It roared, as its club hit the walls around him. The building was shaking and with so many dark bodies within one space, it was tipping to the right. Soon it will imbalance itself and fall, destroying everything within it. The ogre roared at Sora, as it reached to her, crushing the heartless in her way to make room for itself. With its club, it swung towards her head but accidentally missed and hit the wall, revealing Kuro in ice.

Xehenort walked up towards Kuro and pushed the icicle to the ground, breaking his right foot apart.
"I failed once, I will not do it again."
The old master spit on him and soon, they were enveloped with darkness. They then faded away from the world and entered a new one; the Keyblade Graveyard.

 

Xehenort and Kuro appeared in the Keyblade Graveyard but instead of barren wastelands, there was grass, forming the crossroads.
"Its been a long time since I've been here. Too long. Now, Kuro, what should I do with you?"
His keyblade touched the frozen Kuro in the chest, as the master felt his back screeching in pain. It then started to cramp up again. He was old again after these many years. He grew angry and slashed the ice, almost penetrating through it. Controlling his anger, he stepped back and stared at the boy.
"You seem to know Ventus but where is he? How can I find him? Is he dead and you have stepped in his place? Who are you?"
Xehenort melted the ice covering his mouth, causing Kuro to scream. He just lost his right foot and now felt the pain from earlier. Xehenort grinned at his pain but crawled up to his face, staring down with his snake like eyes. Kuro's eyes met his with confusion and panic.
"I hate you", Kuro told him, clenching his teeth, trying to ease the pain.
Xehenort grinned again and said, "Good. You can use that to your advantage, you know? Have you had any visions as of yet? Any sign of a boy with yellow spiky hair, by any chance?"
Kuro spit on his feet. "Why would I help you?"
Xehenort stomped on his face, causing blood to gush out his nose and drip into his mouth. "Because, if you do not, I will kill you and your friends just like Yen Sid. No one can stop me. Not even the great masters of the past. I am the only one left, after all."
Kuro sighed and felt his neck seared with freezing cold ice. The shards from the ice started to penetrate through his skin.
"I have had visions of him but only of him carrying the keyblade...nothing else."
"Which keyblade?"
"It had three blades attached to it"
"The X-Blade...perfect...what did he do with it?"
"Nothing, he held it"
Xehenort stomped on his face again, causing his nose to break as well. "You better know soon. I will leave you here until you have answers. Night, night"
Xehenort punched Kuro in the face and knocked the boy out. He fell unconscious.

Kuro stood in the middle of a black room, with chains of white guiding around the edges towards one singular being; a boy sitting on a grey throne like chair. These chains seemed to be generating power but the light coming off it was very weak.
"Hello?" Kuro said to the boy, who was asleep.
"Hello, Sora. I was waiting for you to notice me" the boy replied, with his mouth open but asleep.
Kuro stepped forward and noticed the boy was stuck in chains.
"Who's done this to you and why did you call me Sora?"
"You aren't Sora? Where is he? I need him. The darkness is gathering and I can't stop it anymore. Soon it will engulf me. I need Sora. Where is he? I need him. He never came."
"Why is Sora so important?" Kuro asked.
"Sora is a keyblader, who was supposed to open the door but never did. He never awakened us. Is he alive? Did he forget about us?"
Kuro shrugged towards an asleep boy, making him feel odd.
"I don't know but..."
Ventus grabbed his hand.
"You are a part of him. I feel the presence of the blade with you. You are the next person in my place. My time is over."
Ventus faded away as the chair crumbled away with him. He was now alone in a black room. No light, not knowing of what to do. He was lost.

 

Being of fire, you never made your choice. Guide the darkness, or empower the light? Your choice still exists, but not for much longer.


Sei woke up, armor missing, in a rather curious fashion. He appeared to be stuck in a net, hanging from a construction not unlike a gazebo. And this construction was located, where else, but the emperor's chamber's of his mother's homeland. He grumbled groggily as he awoke, glancing around his surroundings - but without quite grasping the grandeur of the palace.

"Where's the tower that fell on me?" He croaked, asking a man dressed in guard regalia standing next to the construction.

"The prisoner is awake, your majesty!" The man announced, proclaiming that truth to a figure sitting in the throne down the way.

"Go~od. Leave me, ser-vant!" A feminine voice cooed, adding a sultry intonation to the last word.

"Y-yes your highness!" The man stammered and dashed out of the room.

"Goody! You're awake!"
Once the coast was clear, the woman pranced over in a gleeful trot, clothed in what appeared to be the finest silks.

"Oh, you took for-ev-er! Couldn't you wake a little faster next time? I don't want to show Master Arcanus a sleeping child!" The woman cackled, poking him through the net.

By this point, Sei was fully awake. Unfortunately for him.

"Er. . . Wait, who are you?" He asked, a little bewildered at this strange but beautiful woman and her flirtatious antics.

"Silly! I'll be your new mother for now! Now, come on! Let's go meet the master!" She laughed, lashing out with one hand and severing the top of the net, dropping Sei to the ground rather abruptly. Tossing him the object she did it with, she snickered, "Here, have your toy back!" before opening up a grey portal."Come now!"

Sei stood up, brushed himself off, and looked at the object in his hands. It was his dagger.

 

"This appears to be an unfortunate turn of events." Arcanus spoke as he appeared in the area. He walked towards the group. "I must commend you keyblade masters. No matter what trouble appears before you both, you still get up to fight." He held his hand out towards Terra. Darkness appeared around Arcanus' armored hand and around Terra. "How long has it been since I felt this darkness?" He put his hand down and the darkness faded. "Although you aren't as full of light as you seem." He spoke to Aqua. "After all, both of you abandoned Ventus, did you not? He never woke up, and so his body eventually decayed." Arcanus turned to walk away. "Leave the boy Kilana. The die has been cast. We have no need to fight the keyblade masters. And they will have their hands full fighting for the child of light." Before disappearing, Arcanus turned to look at the keyblade masters again. "Terra, Aqua. All the pieces are on the board. This game has three groups all fighting towards the same group. You denizens of the light, Xehanort, and myself. If Kingdom Hearts remains untouched, you win. If Xehanort enters Kingdom Hearts, he wins. If I even open up Kingdom Hearts, I win. Prioritize your responsibilities before we meet again."

 

Xehenort grinned as he thought of Kingdom Hearts being opened for the first time and himself clutching the X-Blade. He wanted to see the darkness succeed but if darkness gained power, would he still be able to control the X-Blade for much longer. It would change after Twilight would fail to exist. Perhaps the blade could be forged. He ridden himself of this track of thought and answered Junko's question.
"Once, the boy turns to darkness, I will be able to obtain the X-Blade through his weak heart. We must give him trials and progressively kill the people he loves. With nothing left, he would be consumed by hatred and sadness. Let the boy explore the worlds for a while so he can gain enough experience to wield the X-Blade. After that, I will possess his weak heart. I made a mistake of leaving the blade into one heart and one body but now, I will force the heart away from its processor and plunge it into my own."
Xehenort walked over to Sora with his keyblade touching her cheek.
"So, is this the chosen one?"
His blade touched the cheek, creating a small gash. A droplet of blood ran down her face and trickled over her neck until it went dry.

Kuro's eyes awoke and as he saw Sora lying beside him, he knew something was wrong. He noticed a blood stain on her chest. He heard Xehenort speaking and as he looked away, he felt her pulse. She was still breathing. Kuro breathed a sigh of relief. That's when Xehenort sharply turned towards them.
Kuro tried to grab Sora and place her on his back but it was no use. There wasn't enough time. Xehenort pushed Kuro away from the girl and grabbed Sora. He placed his keyblade on her neck.
"You are not going anywhere"
"SORA!" Kuro cried.
Xehenort smiled.
"I will kill her if you don't feel the darkness inside of you. Feel those many years of existence without her. Imagine if I sliced her neck right now and cut her up like a pig"
Kuro felt he should give up and just do what his "master" said. He wanted to succumb to the darkness but then he felt hope. An urge to fight for what was right. He noticed that Junko was there too. He was outnumbered. He still believed he could do it. He could fight. With a rekindled hope, he unleashed a new keyblade; the legendary three bladed keyblade, the X-Blade. It appeared out of light and with Xehenort amazed at the sight and pre-occupied at its beauty, Kuro slid between the two and kicked Xehenort away. He could feel the power of the X-Blade surging through him and held Sora up with his left shoulder. The blade started to teem with blue energy which streamed from the blade's tip like fireworks about to explode. The energy crackled and then fizzled into a blue circular dome encasing the two darkness dwellers inside a bubble. Kuro ran away from them with Sora in hand, trying to find a gummi ship in the barren wasteland but nothing was around. He placed Sora behind a large rock, safe from harm and then ran back 100 yards, spacing him and the two dark beings away. He needed some room to fight and this, he wasn't sure he was going to win.

Xehenort, with an angered scream seared through the bubble with a blast of fire.
"How did you escape the darkness!?"
"I found hope within Sora. We both need each other. I am dark, she is light. We are one Twilight"
Xehenort raged towards Kuro in breakneck speed.
"GIVE ME THE X-BLADE!"
Kuro, not knowing how to defend himself with such a large weapon was slashed in the side and once more on his chest but as Xehenort tried to stab through his heart, Kuro deflected the blow and ensnared his keyblade within the holdings of his. It fell off soon afterwards. Kuro kicked Xehenort back and gashed Xehenort's leg with the huge blade. The boy then readied a strike to the head but Xehenort grabbed a nearby keyblade and blocked the attack. The old man gasped for breath and stepped back, preparing for another onslaught.

 

Arcanus simply held up his blade to block the attack. He pushed Terra back, using minimal effort. "That's right. Sora's your daughter, isn't she? Now, after abandoning Ventus did you two become friends with benefits? Or is there a deeper connection between you two?" Arcanus shook his head. "Doesn't matter. Anyways, Sora is currently with Xehanort." Arcanus snapped his fingers. A dark portal opened up. "They are through here. Go rescue her if you so desire. But not only is Xehanort there, but so is Sora's sister Junko. Are you prepared to strike down your own daughter? Oh, and before I forget. Sora's boyfriend with the weak heart is also there. If I had to guess, Xehanort is trying to create the X-Blade again and use him as the medium to do so. If you desire to protect Kingdom Hearts, you two better hurry."

Kuro, as Sora cried out his name, turned sharply the other way, to block an attack from Xehenort.
"I'll never let you have her!"
Kuro suddenly had a flash of someone he saw in one of his books, Riku. Without any hesitance, he pushed Xehenort back and ran at him, hacking away at the Master. However, Xehenort was too cunning for those type of attacks. He disappeared and then reappeared behind him, slamming the boy down.
"Feel the darkness inside of you. It is who you are. Nothing can be done to save your precious Sora. Nothing!"
Kuro rose from the ground, hovering and then turning towards Xehenort.
"You're wrong. There is always hope in the darkest of places. I finally get it. Sora has always been there for me and now I'm here for her!"
Kuro dashed towards Xehenort and rushed the keyblader up into the air with the swipes of the X-Blade. With each slash, his skin turned to ice.
"OK, that's it!"
A heartless came from behind Xehenort and formed his guardian. It slammed its huge fist down at the teenager, causing Kuro to lie down on the ground, quivering and out of breath. The ground cracked at his weight and his back cried in pain when he tried to get back up.
Xehenort hovered down to him like a vulture after its prey. He was victorious.
"Now, if you don't mind..."
Xehenort reached for his heart but he was pushed back by a flash of light. Xehenort, angry, plunged his hand into Kuro, taking in some of the light and resisting the energy being dispersed from his heart. Kuro laid in the Keyblade Graveyard unconscious. Xehenort, disappeared and became one with his body but Kuro was gone. He was rushed out of his own heart and body, forming a shell inside Kingdom Hearts. Xehenort awoke inside Kuro's body and laughed.
"It feels good to be young once more. That boy's heart was feeble. He did not deserve such a marvelous weapon."
He held the X-Blade in his hand, happy to be reunited with it.

 

Xehenort walked over to Sora.
"Perhaps we should kill her before we open Kingdom Hearts so she won't try anything after the fact."
He rose the X-blade towards her and then stopped.
"Unless, you can find a use for her?"
He grinned but then in the corner of his eye, he saw two people he wished to be hidden; Aqua and Terra.
Without any hesitence, he raised the X-Blade and opened Kingdom Hearts as a now blue color.
"Junko, do what you must. I have unfinished business to take care of"
He started to walk towards them. He could imagine their dead bodies on the ground. He wanted to finish the job.

 

"Hello Junko. Having fun trying to scheme behind my back?" Arcanus asked as he appeared behind her. He sat down on a large rock that was behind him. His cape gently flowed with the breeze as he stabbed his sword in front of him. "The first thing you should know about plotting things. Don't do it after you've worked for somebody infinitely more powerful than you." He held his hand out to her, just like he did to Terra earlier. The dark aura that began emanating from his hand also appeared all around Junko. "After all, it was I who saved your heart. When you and your sister were both born, her light nearly obliterated you. You would be dead if it wasn't for me. I thank you for bringing Sora this close to Kingdom Hearts. Although if you desire the door to open, it would be in your best interest to get away. The light just may obliterate all but the darkest of hearts. I cannot promise you safety."

Xehenort held the X-Blade in his hand.
"I am younger, more agile, and with a far more superior weapon that yours. Terra, you have already lost"
He plunged into the ground, creating a ripple of darkness among the sand. The ground started to shake and crack. Instead of appearing from behind Terra, he pulled himself up from the ground to the right of the keyblader and struck from Terra's side. Meanwhile, an onslaught of keybladers were hurtling towards Terra in a whirlwind.

Kuro found himself in the darkest of spaces, hovering without land below. It felt soothing and his eyes drooped. He imagined himself sitting on the Gizmo Shop Roof, looking over Traverse Town. In a weird way, it entranced him. It was dark but instances of light caught his eye. That was his frame of mind so it made sense.
He fell forwards, as the lights went out. He felt himself falling further; deeper into darkness.

He then felt someone nearby. Something warm.

"The heart of light needs to stay strong...
I don't think I can...'

One speck of light was shining in the distance and as he heard her voice, he opened his eyes for one time so he can see her.
"Yes you can, Sora. You can stay strong. You're the hope of the worlds. You can't give up. I'm useless. Nobody would miss me"

He closed his eyes and fell to sleep, sinking into the darkness. It started to entangle himself. He started to forget who he was, his memories, his friends.
