there's nothing wrong with tragic villains, if done right, they're very effective at telling stories

exactly. Villains are villains. Doesn't matter if they're tragic

Everything is wrong with a tragic villain, as in having a change of heart in the end. I rather have a real villain who sticks to their twisted transcendent beliefs til the end. You know the crooked ones that have no kindness and steps on anyone just to get what they want.

Villains who changes in the end aren't villains.

so? they're still villains during the game (Riku)

Tragic villains add a fresh new twist to any story if you stick with generic villains then people become disinterested in your story. and anyway not all tragic villains have a change of heart.

anyway, regardless of what legacy says, I have a new idea for a tragic villain: how about a guy who is pegged by destiny to be the villain. like no matter what he does it ultimately makes him the bad guy. He tries to go against this destiny but it's impossible, so you feel for him, but then toward the end he embraces who he has to be and becomes the full fledged villain. so now you can take him out without that much regret. or something like that.

that's a good idea. I wouldn't mind something like that happening in KH. But how would it affect Sora?

well it's just an idea for a new villain for Sora to fight after Master Xehanort. Sora has a strong sense of empathy. that's what makes him a good hero. which is why a villain like this would pose an interesting threat to him, he would be unsure on how to fight an enemy who does not want to be a villain.Sora would sympathise with this guy, and it would make his full turn to the Dark side all the more tragic.

Riku was not a villain just an antagonist. There's a difference you know.

Well different villains have different personalities and intelligence which doesn't necessarily mean one would lose interest in a generic villain. One villain could be a mastermind, planning every step ahead, another could believe he is a god which is the most common. I personally feel if your going to do something stick to it through the end.

Haha it's funny how I always disagree!

I still think a tragic villain would be good for the series. one aspect that people sometimes overlook in a series like KH is the drama that goes into it. When you've made a game where people actually care about the characters, then you've done a REALLY good job. A villain that that wages an emotional war with Sora would spark a strange empathy in the player for the villain.

I agree with Knight. Anything's possible right?

Thanks ADogX, your right. Anything is possible, after all, we are not the one's writing the story, Nomura is.

But to be honest, I don't really see the story continuing after Xehanort =/

ugh, back to this nonsense again. Roxion gave proof that it will continue.

I know but still. Anyway, how do you think a Tragic Villian will interact with Sora?

We need a villain who is a greater puppet master than Xehanort. A person who is manipulating him.

I see...but doesn't that happen a lot in other series? Like, in Mortal Kombat 9. Shao Khan wanted to rule the world. But Quan Chi and someone more powerful were just using him. Even though Shao Khan is a God, though defeated by Raiden. See where I'm getting at?

Yeah exactly! Like in Naruto, Pain is leader of the Akatsuki and actually Madara the real leader.

Just one way of going in Kingdom Hearts that I could think of.

We really need a Tragic Villain since there's less than people like Madara. Would be nice to see one in KH

ok say it's the second option I posted. Ten there could be a whole scene where Sora meets him and befriends him before he knows he's the villain. then Sora continues that friendship while the villain commits his unwitting evils away from sora. Then sora finds out about him and tries to help him. but by that point it's too late and the villain fully embraces who he is. how about that?
