why do we kill killers to show it is bad to kill.

if someone kills a baby and we kill them arent we treating them just like they treated the baby?

its not justice its revenge and the situation is no diffrent someone is dead at the end of the day.

I think if you kill someone you should go to rehab and be treated nicely.

You could argue that, which is why some people are opposed to capital punishment. Though others would say this is justice being served. An eye for an eye. It's up for interpretation.

I personally think it's a harsher punishment to make the criminal serve a life sentence in prison with no parole. I don't necessarily believe that there is an afterlife where justice will be served, so we may as well serve it on earth. If they commited the crime, they should have to live with it.

Treated nicely? I agree with the sentiment that everyone should be treated like human beings (no cruel or unusual punishment), but being nice is going a bit too far. Rehab is entirely too light a sentence for murder.

It can be either justice or revenge, or both. It all depends how we go about it. Someone wanting a killer to die because said killer killed their family, that's revenge. Someone executing a killer after the killer has gone through the entire legal system and has determined that he must die, that is more justice than revenge. Especially when it is conducted through a third party that has no personal connection to the killing.

What if the person fears death? Then letting them live is seen as a mercy they may not deserve.

What if they don't feel guilt over the crime?

At some point some people shouldn't be treated like human beings. The line has to be drawn somewhere that they don't deserve the rights that are given to everybody else.

America is based on Christianity, and the bible is kinda all about an eye for an eye, it only makes sense.

The killers shouldn't be treated nicely.
Though, all people are created to be treated equally, but, people aren't.
And throughout the persecution and all, everyone has different opinions on how the killers should be treated. Though it may call, "revenge" or "justice" it's all an opinion.

Oh not to mention, Killers would be given life sentences, without killing them, we would have an over flow of prison inmates. Which we actually already do.

This is kind of long and rambling, but I suppose to sum up my thoughts, regardless if a person is looking forward to death or not, regardless if they feel guilty for their crime or not, I'd rather choose life. I've seen evidence in the past (don't ask me to look it up now, though) that a sentence of life in prison is cheaper than carrying out a death sentence (because of the cost of all of the appeals), and I'd rather keep guilty people alive than execute someone who's actually innocent. And I reckon years of sitting in one small cell is not something anyone could really enjoy, unless he's like an agoraphobe or life on the outside was just really that shitty.

I disagree, somewhat. Do I think people who commit horrible crimes should just get a slap on the wrist and be set free to run amok? No. But I don't think that criminal behavior should be an excuse for people in authority to just do whatever the hell they feel like to 'em. It starts a slippery slope.

Then maybe they should quit arresting people for stupid stuff like smoking marijuana and free up some of those cells. But that's a debate for another thread.

Here is what I think: We kill killers because to the rash revengfulistic (yes I am making that a word now) world we live in sees capital punishment as serving justice or "an eye for an eye". Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Gahndi say that "an eye for an eye make the whole world go blind."? By this he means that revenge will continue on a vicious cycle until we lose sight of what we are becoming and what we are doing.

Now, while killing someone isn't necessarily the answer, neither is being "nice" to them. It is true that some people are beyond repair and there is no hope for them, but that is not the case for all killers. some of not most can easily see the error in their ways and with counseling and support can reintegrate into society. now then, clinics are more than just "nice" with some you will need "tough love". or to (in easy terms) break them down with hard psychological treatments that will break down the "wall in their mind' and cause them to feel remorse for their actions. this is not easy and is not always "nice' but it is in theory a better way to deal with killers rather than killing them.

    No.
That person took someone else's life for no good reason at all. To let them live, is doing them a favor. If they want to kill someone, they ought to know, that there will be punishment for taking that innocent life.
It is not treating them like the baby, because the baby never did ANYTHING wrong to provoke that person. Whereas that murderer just took someone's life away from them.

Absolutely, This "War on Drugs" is pretty much ruining our country.
(People going to prison for felony possession and coming out hardened criminals)
