    I can't give you a for sure answer seeing as I wasn't here when clans were going on, but my understanding (which could be wrong) is a few groups of people who do graphics that work against each other. In competitions and what not. Like I guess there would be clan competitions... clan logos, motto, names, banners, colors, etc. Really just seems like a fun way of competing against one another.

    For example if you were in a gang you might wear a symbol of your gang. Similarly I'm sure you'd have a clan sig or something.

    GFX Clans are pretty interesting.

    Much like Royal said you have clan signatures, compete against other clans, share tips and tricks to improve your GFX skills.
