12 people are dead and 58 injured after a man opens fire during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado. From what I've read, most of the victims haven't been identified yet, so we've got families sitting around wondering if their loved ones are still alive or not. I don't want to think about what they must be feeling.

This is just a senseless tragedy. It's scary that you never know when some nutjob is going to lose it and do something like this. I can't even begin to understand how someone would think this was a good idea, to go in and start shooting random people. And it's not as if he just snapped; he'd apparently been planning this for weeks, had full body armor and tear gas, and booby-trapped his house with explosives before he left for his shooting spree.

I wish I could say this is unbelievable, but it's sadly not. And I'm sure we'll be having people bringing up the arguments and blaming video games and violent movies like they did back when Columbine occurred. *Sigh*

Oh, it'll be worse. They're gonna specifically blame Batman for this event. I heard on one news report somebody wondering if this guy was trying to make the movies more real, acting like Joker in The Dark Knight.

Man. This is going to delay the movie... by a lot! ...I am just speechless.

It's ridiculous. DC didn't tell this guy to commit this crime, and neither did Warner Bros or Nolan. People need to put the blame where it belongs- on the shooter's shoulders.

I hadn't heard that WB had decided to hold back the movie. If anything, this will probably promote it even more, just like Heath Ledger's death drew people to The Dark Knight.

They've started releasing the identities of some of the victims. One was a six year old little girl, whose mother was shot and is paralyzed and in critical condition as well, and another an officer in the military. Such a tragedy.
