I am a fan of long hair on men, have since I was a little girl. :) So I was naturally attracted to Riku when I first played Kingdom Hearts, and had a huge crush on him as I played further. When Kingdom Hearts 2 came out , I LOVED Riku's even longer hair. He also looked alot more grown up in my opnion. When I saw the trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D, I died a little inside to see all those beautiful locks all chopped off and even shorter than the first game.:( Ok, I'm being dramatic, but in general I don't think cutting his hair was a good idea, I think it makes him look even younger than Sora.

    What do you guys think?

... I don't know. I am into women hair. Too bad that I cannot grow hair like that. Only hair that I am only capable of is to grow an afro (only having an afro would be very nice. Just need to have it look very nice and not all nappy like I see people in the show) and nothing else, hee hee hee.

I saw this thread's title and thought, "Fan-Girl"

Anyway, On normal Riku, I thought it seemed a bit off but on [Dream] Riku. I think that the haircut fitted him perfectly fine. The game was mainly about Riku's growth so a new haircut, a new look, a new style had worked out nicely in my opinion. The longer hair that he once had on that shorter Riku would look so strange.

    EDIT:
Umm....You could get a Jheri Curl like Michael Jackson, dreads like T-Pain, corn rows like Kevin Federline used to have or a Mohawk.

Jeri Curls are so easy on my head, I do not like dreads really and I really am not a fan of corn rows. XD I used to have a ponytail on my head (Was cut off when I was six I think).

But anyway, I think Riku will come back older in the next time with his haircut a little bit shorter than his KH2 counterpart. Would be nice.

Well, I can't say that I've ever felt that strongly about any KH character. I thought Riku's hair in KH II was long and a little silly-looking, and if he were a real person, I would have been that crotchety old lady who hollered at him to get a haircut. I don't think that the haircut in KH3D is an improvement, though. In some images I've seen it looks okay, but in some it looks a little dorky, like he'd done it himself without really paying attention.

But, that being said, I think it suits him to have made a change like this. A changed look mirroring his changing life, you know. Or pretend I said something more profound than that.

Don't worry Wax. I didn't like his haircut either in KH2. That and his baggy clothes. Made him look so dirty to me.

Honestly when I first played the game as a kid I didn't get the long hair-anime thing. Now I do, and I realize that the design of Riku has always been based around his personality and role.

KH1, he looked like the badass cool kid and was seen as the strongest and best on Destiny Island.

Kh2 he looked more calm and mature, and despite the baggy pants he did look like he had matured and the longer hair also fits rather well.

KH3D his short hair made sense with him being older and more grown up, his whole design in the dream world and real world was meant to reflect on his maturity, growth and experience as stated by Summoner. Though the short hair didnt fit. If they made sora have his darker brown, less spiky hair? Why could we have Riku's hair from KH1? That's my only complaint.

I have always loved characters with long hair, and Riku is no exception. I was a little upset when I saw his hair was shorter in DDD, but it makes sense that he would cut it. I couldn't help but think he did it because he finally had his own body back. I mean, he ran around looking like Ansem for the longest time, his hair probably grew a little longer than he wanted it to.
