Sharknado

I feel as though this movie (And the sequel) deserve its own thread.

For those of you who don't know, Sharknado is a movie on the SciFi (Or is it SyFy now?) channel. Like all SciFi movies, they tend to have bad special effects and the movies themselves aren't much to talk about.

So why talk about this one? Because there is something that is just ridiculously great about it that I just can't put into words.

The basic premise is that a tornado forms over the ocean, scoops hundreds of sharks out of the ocean, and then moves over to LA. LA floods, people get eaten by sharks, etc. In the second movie, the same thing happens to New York.

I'm willing to bet that each of you who are reading this right now are probably rolling your eyes and the description I gave. Because seriously, it is one of the dumbest things ever. But there is just something about that movie (Maybe the over-the-top ridiculousness of the premise or the fact that it tries to take itself seriously) that makes it enjoyable to watch. And I can't be the only one to think so, considering how many famous people were in the second movie.

So, anybody else seen this movie or had opinions of it?

Actually, I think it sounds like the most hilariously awesome/bad thing ever. It's exactly the sort of movie my youngest sister would like, too, so we need to get together and give it a watch someday, if she hasn't seen it already.

I think it is SyFy now. Don't know why they changed it. o_O

The premise kind of reminds me of Gyo. I haven't seen this movie but I kind of want to just for the hell of it. I use to love watching all those dumb SciFi/SyFy movies all the time as a kid, like Lake Placid.

I remember sitting in subway on my break and seeing ads for it. Is it really worth the hype?
