The reason I always try to resolve the characters of Roxas, Xion, Namine (and sometimes Axel) in KHDDD is because of two key factors.

    1) A realm made up of dreams. That’s an excuse to do literally anything you want. Dreams are wonky already.

    2) Joshua is there. It’s a fact that some version of the Reapers Game exists in the KHverse.

Characters tend to be slightly altered from their source game but KH kept Joshua’s role in tact. Meaning, there is a being, right there from world one, that can canonically revive the dead.

That’s why I always go back to this. The world and being, aka the means, to save half of the cluttered clone cast was right freakin there. No need for complex BS, you had a walking talking dragon ball RIGHT FREAKIN THERE.

Wanna save them? Ok Sora (and Kairi presumably) must complete the game. Or you could end KH3D on Sora going to Joshua about Roxas, Xion, and Namine.

He couldn’t promise but he can give them a shot in the game. Boom! Final scene of DDD is a 4 to 5yr version of the three playing happily somewhere showing they were able to win and reincarnate into happy lives.

So many options were there and all of them easier than data, clones, and people completing like their body is a puzzle piece.

What’s more annoying is that this could’ve been used to make Sora’s fall to darkness believable. In the game we got he just mumbles sad and passes out cause Young Xehanort sung him a lullaby.

In this version you could’ve made the salvation of the others Sora’s damnation. As he frees them from their pain it causes him to take on their darkness. They are, after all, parts and versions of himself.

Even if they became their own identities there’s nothing that will change this fact. They are variants of Sora, facets of him.

The end result is that their hearts are free to try (and succeed) the reapers game to be reborn into lives of their own. But, this freedom comes at the cost of Sora taking on their darkness and nearly being Norted.

In a sense, they paid a price for Sora to wake and Sora then pays a price to give them life.

I still don't know why any of these clones or nobodies or whoever even needed to come back, if I'm being honest. It's okay for characters to die and stay dead.

I don't know shit about this character you mentioned, but stories in general have a habit of nerfing or ignoring characters with world or story-breaking abilities, so I can't say KH ignoring this chance is especially shocking.

I didn't think they needed to come back either but more fans would rage if they didn't so I usually just incorporate it into my ideas cause if I didn't I'd get only replies of "they have to come backkkkk" among other arguments.

Then it annoys me how they came back because there was easier ways to do so, especially with Joshua here.

He's from TWEWY, and minimal spoilers as I can leave ya, he's a being with the capacity to bring people back. I know KH alters people for cameos (something else I dont mind tbh) but the role he has in his own game is the same role he's playing in KH3D so I'm unsure how nerfed he is.

Basically, it just annoys me that a less annoying method was there and it wasn't used.
