Well, it's true. And I also believe a lot of Christians to be very hypocritical. Murder is murder, so therefore sentencing someone to death is murder. And if you believe in him: God also sees it as blasphemy as it's taking the life of someone into your own hands and making the choice to kill them, for God. He's a pretty possessive guy, and doesn't like people muscling in on his judgment-day fun, God.

Oi, we are not hypocrites. Part of the 10 Commandments was eye for an eye, but jesus then came along with the message that the commandments are null and void and instead of striking back you should turn the other cheek. Obviously we still strike back but i think he meant imprison the murderer, don't kill him. But many Christians didn't listen. So were deaf, not hypocrites.

I never said all. And some Christians do listen to the Bible and don't see what they want to.

Incidentally, isn't one of the ten commandments not to worship any idol but God? In that case, what's going on with Jesus? Anyways - that's a tangent.

Well, the bible said that God is one being in three different forms. God the Father is usually the form we talk about as God. God the Son is Jesus. The bible says that Jesus is true God and true Man. And the third form is God the Holy Spirit. So yeah, they are the same.

EDIT: Hmm....I've posted in the wrong topic again. Maybe i'm getting alzheimers. Haha. But nah, if you look at the last page or two of this topic, it looks like the Religion Topic.

So I'll move my response over there.

Okay, well then, since I wasn't around when this thread started, I will state what I think: I think that there is nothing wrong with the death penalty. I think that it should depend on what types of crimes deserve the death penalty.

I suppose if they get out and do it again then there may be no doubt. But to receive it they should be 100% sure.

i just recently wrote an argument against capital punishment. So what is they have killed someone, if we just go ahead and kill them ourselves that would make us just as bad as them. The fact that they killed someone is bad yes but if you wanna make them suffer lock em up for life, that has gotta be bad stuck in a small room eating something that you do not want to identify. That in my opion is waaaay worse than capital punishment, but even so why drop to their level and kill them too. how would killing them for killing make us any better?

The problem with locking them up for life is that our tax dollars help pay for them being there.

so do you suggest we stoop to their level, cause i am pretty sure putting them i a mini island out in the middle of nowhere could solve it and less tax dollars they don't have to live through it....

But you can not be inhuman if you put them on the Island, at least with killing them, you are putting the out of their misery fast.

And putting them on an island doesn't guarentee that they will stay there. I am sure that somebody would eventually make a boat out of something (Wood, bones, etc.) and sail off of it into civilization.

  15. Jeez my topic has gotten pretty popular.

Some people deserve capital punishment, but some have good in their hearts and they can change. Most of them have changed and I like the way things are (less capital punishment, more years in prison).

Agreed. Put something on them to make sure you can keep an eye on em when they are on parol. If they start to act weirdly, find out why and then lock em up before they murder/rape some one else.

The biggest problem with that is that we have to end up paying for their stay in prison.

hm.. I never heard that before. I don't think it would cost much. Its not like a morgage or bill. Must be from the taxes.

But still, why pay for their crimes?
