I still get a little tripped up sometimes but I try to associate a pneumonic device to each one so that I can remember them. Like EGBDF is Every Good Boy Does Fine and for bass clef it would be GBDFA: Good Boys Do Fine Always

oh yea we learned those as well and we use printouts of keyboards so we know that each note actually corresponds with a piano key, it helps bring it around full circle for me

yup, I can at least say now that I can read music, before taking this class if you showed me a sheet of music, all I would see was a bunch of dots, lines, and squiggles, but now I actually know that thoughs symbols mean something lol

yea that's most likely it, the class was easy at first, just learning all the notes, EGBDF and FACE, etc. I just hope I pass this class because it a prereq to Classical Piano I, which I really want to take cuz I've always wanted to learn to play the piano

exactly, I thought since this is an "Intro" class it would cater to people like me who don't have any previous experience, which I guess in a way it does, but as they semester has been progressing it has steadily gotten more and more complicated. The chapter I started to fall behind was when we started doing the major scales and we had to learn the "Circle of Fifths" and all those "augmented 2nds" and "diminished 3rds" (still to this day don't fully understand those) but now we're on the minor scales which also has a Circle of Fifths that I need to memorize as well

thats how I feel too whenever I listen to my music, that's why I'm taking some music classes while I'm in school, to see if that's also a potential career I could be in. Though I must say I'm close to failing my Intro to Music Theory class and I desperately need to bring my grade up. Its just hard cuz I have no previous music experience and everyone else in my class does so it's hard for me to ask questions when I'm confused cuz everyone else already gets it and is ready to move on to the next thing while I'm still stuck on the first lesson. But I've managed to find a tutor, one of my friends is a music major so he's an expert on all this kind of stuff and is willing to help me :)

hey me too! lol I actually got accepted into culinary school and I had to choose between going to the college I go to now or cooking school, obviously I didn't choose to be a chef lol Luckily I realized that I loved cooking as a hobby not as a career

yea that's what I'm waiting for, that lightbulb moment where it finally clicks and I just know that this is what I'm meant to be :)

yes and no, I've been in this weird limbo place since the beginning of the semester, where I don't really know what direction I want to go with my life. My major is Media Production, and within that major there's a wide range of things you can do with that degree, which is great when you're going out looking for jobs, but its confusing for me because having too many options just makes my head go in circles. I would be happy working in film, making movies, but I could also see myself working in television, as long as it's sitcoms and NOT the news, I can't stand watching the news! lol but I also have this really strong passion for animation, if I had the drawing skills to work in animation I would for sure work for Cartoon Network or Funimation, that would be a dream come true. And there's numerous other interests that I have that I could also turn into careers so I'm struggling to find the one path that I'm destined to go down when I'm being tugged in all these different directions

yea, but that's the thing though, my brothers have no idea what they want to do. They have no goals or ambitions, other than party with their friends and spend what little money they do make from their part time jobs on useless tattoos so they can fit in

that's the same thing my two younger brothers did, they didn't do too good in high school so they went to our local community college, unfortunately they dropped out halfway through their first semester and as of right now they don't have any plans of going back

that's a smart plan, will definitely save you money on tuition. For me, I just had to get out of my house as soon as I graduated high school so I couldn't do community college for 2 years. I do take classes when I'm home for winter break and summer break so that way I can get some of my general education classes out of the way which could help me graduate early, and it gives me something to do while I'm home so I'm not just sitting around bored lol

Salisbury University, yea I met a good number of freshmen who were seriously considering coming here, hopefully I did a good job of convincing them today. I met one girl who is more than likely going to come here in the fall and we were just talking about how much she loves film and TV and that she really feels like she'll fit in here. I gave her my email too, so she could ask me some more questions or if she just needed a friend when she comes to school here. What college are you planning on attending?

thats cool, I just gave a tour this morning actually to all the incoming freshmen who are thinking of coming to my college next semester. I had to show them around all the TV studios, recording studios, and show off all the editing equipment. It was fun even though I had to wake up at 8AM to do it lol
