Yes, it was active during 2007-2009. Then in mid '09, activity went down.
Back now, went up again. But yes, this site has ups and downs. I totally understand what you mean. But hey, we can't turn time back, and, let's give the newcomers a chance to have memories. It's great once you have memories here. Trust me. ;) Lol, you'll see what I mean. but yeah, don't worry too much about joining earlier. At least you still meet some people from those years.
