“About the next title, Kingdom Hearts 3 depends on Final Fantasy XIII Versus, but development of the next title is already underway. There are two titles other than Kingdom Hearts 3 in conception, and I think I’ll release one within this year.”

“As from next year, I want to put out a title with multiple main characters.”

“The series won’t end in Kingdom Hearts 3, more like the conclusion of the Xehanort saga.”

“It’s not the case that when Sora’s story is over another hero’s story will begin; Sora will be the hero until the end.”

End of Xehanort saga? Like i said KH3 will contain Xehanort as a whole..
Though, does this mean the end of Sora? After the Xehanort saga? And how far can Square Enix get out of Disney? Will we eventually see Final Fantasy Worlds?

This makes me nervous. Now, I like Sora- I enjoy him as the main character. But I worry that they will try and drag the story on too long, to make it fit into more games than it probably should. And it will end up sucking.

some games did that, like all the harry potter series, but it didn't suck THAT much

and since Kingdom Hearts is a more popular game, i'd think it will still be even more popular than the best HP game

EDIT : i just hope they don't plan on making a movie about kingdom hearts ... or maybe i do want to see the movie

The Harry Potter series has always had a set number- one for each of Harry's years at Hogwarts, and the story was spaced appropriately throughout those years. That is different from this.

Perhaps I am wrong to be skeptical about the future of the KH series. But with someone (Nomura?) saying they want to release one game a year, and now saying that Sora is the only hero, I don't know. I'm afraid they will try to stretch the story too far, and it'll end up needlessly complex or just tiresome after a while.

To me this is horrible news. I was sure that they were going to end it at 3. Now they are talking about a new hero? Yet, Sora will still be the main character? Wtf..
I guess I want to see what the future has in store for us.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

i gotta admit this is both epic and disturbing news. yay more games but the scary thought of too many. i'd be fine with one more main bit (3) and maybe 2 more side stories. but any more and i will seriously begin to question how good the series will remain.

I think one of them is a KH Collection game for the ps3.

that would be cool too, but i dont want like six or seven games of kh, most things should stop after three or it will get bad after that, sometimes it works with a four or five, but it gets boring after that, so i hope they dont, but new hero? i think that will be bad.

I don't think you can just put a number on sequels like that and say "after 3, it will suck". That is not always the case.

This is just my opinion, and take it as you will, because I have only played KH, COM, and KH II- none of these newer sequels, but I already think that the KH story is starting to get drawn out. If two more games and KH III are still coming out, I'm afraid I can't see what they could have left to talk about in any other games following. Even if they add new heroes, if it's set in the same universe as Sora's story, I think I'd feel like I'm just, in a sense, replaying the old games.

Hmph, I really think they should just make KH3 and stop there. KH is deffinitely my favourite game series so I hope they won`t go ruining it.. More games don´t necessarily mean a bad game, but as much as I like Sora, I don`t see it working without a new main character,
