Oh hey someone else other than Avalantos and I finally makes a goddamn music thread. And its for a band I enjoy.

YouTube - 30 Seconds to Mars - The Kill

This song got me into them. What's awesome is that the video is all referring to one of my favorite movies, The Shining.

Yeah. Easily my favorite. I'm downloading their new album, This Is War, at the moment. All I've heard is Kings and Queens, which I don't like much if at all.

My commentary on the album after listening to everything. (If its a bit jumbled I apologize, tired)

Escape - Makes for a solid opening track. Only complaint is the scream ‘This is War!’.

Night of the Hunter – One of the best 30 Seconds to Mars songs I’ve heard thus far. Awesome instrumentals paired with solid vocals and good lyrics makes for an overall great sounding song.

Kings and Queens – Simply put, it sucks dick

This is War – More of a chill intro then the rest of the album so far. Vocals sound good, lyrics are typical 30 Seconds to mars style. Nice chorus as well, and a great rebound off the shitty single that comes in front of it.

100 Suns – Very short track, falling just short of 2 minutes. But very calm throughout.

Hurricane – Amazing beginning that drew me into the song. Kanye West back-up vocals were a nice little surprise. Great piano. Vocals/lyrics are pretty good, just like most of their other work. Brandon Flowers (frontman of the Killers, for those of you who don’t know yer music as fanatically as I do) is in this as well.

Closer to the Edge – Very fast instrumentals in the intro. And of course the vocals come in well. Chorus is pretty great. There’s one spot where there’s a lot of echo shouting about 3 minutes in that bothers me, but it doesn’t take much away form the rest of the track.

Vox Populi – Shitty beginning. The techno-esque instrumentals in the intro are nice. Once Leto himself starts singing it gets better. But the whole crowd shouting thing kind of annoys me. The chorus is alright though, even with the crowd.

Search and Destroy – Great guitar in this one. Vocals are really good in this. Not much to say thought wise on this, other than it being a nice song.

Alibi – Calm piano intro sets a nice tone for the song. Vocals come in soft. Fairly relaxing throughout.

Stranger in a Strange Land – I’m not sure how to describe it, maybe a kind of eerie song to start. But then out of nowhere it picks up in tempo and volume in a very sudden transition for a few moments. Very good song though, no complaints of the lyrics. Just be aware of sudden changes in volume.

L490 – Kind of muffled sounds to begin the track. Turns into some nice guitar. Chanting like shit is kind of weird to end the album.

    -Bonus Track-

Only one of them came on my download :C

Night of the Hunter (Flood Remix) - Kind of more electronic than the original song, but it sounds a lot better. I might even categorize the genre as dance music for this.

Overall a sound album, definitely worth a listen.

The Kill is what got me into them, I love the video for from yesterday. And A beautiful lie has amazing lyrics.

Although its been years since i last listened to them. Amazing band.

Not a fan, dont scream enough for my tastes. The instrumentals would go well with so heavier vocals in my opinion, but I havn't heard many songs.

Yesterday = best video ever though.

    Kyuu your worst nightmare.

I like this band. Not my favorite, but still good. From yesterday's music video is awesome and the song is good, too. I don't like the new album very much though Closer to the edge and Night of the hunter are nice. Oblivion, The Kill, Attack and The Fantasy are my fave songs from them.
