    OKay so for my World Affairs class I'm supposed to write a paper on the fundamental misunderstandings between the U.S. and Arab worlds.

    Now I could spend endless hours searching through -probably crap- "report" that people put out on the internet, or I could simply ask you guys. I figured the best way to get an answer is to ask other people what the think are the misunderstandings.

    Feel free to state your views and defend if need be, but remember, be civil!

    This sounds familiar. Like an essay in a test I had to write in History. Although that essay was about why radical islamo-fascist people hate America and want me to die.

    Basically, it goes like this.

    We're in their holy land.

    We're infidels.

    We export immorality.

    And something else I forgot.

    EDIT: I remember now. They want to rule the world like they did many many years ago.

    I think the biggest misunderstandings is the premise for which we are there in the first place. Is it to root out terrorism? Or get oil? Or was it to set up military bases and restore democracy?

    So darn many reasons. What I really think it is, is the spread of American culture and economic imperialism. One that will soon, very soon, crash.

    Okay here we go.

    The biggest misunderstading is Religion. This is all one big holy war. America may not see it that way but the middle east does. To them this is a holy war.

    Hm.. these are all very valid thoughts, and all these factors might play some part of it all.
