    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

I'm a big fan of RPs and other fantasy stuff. In my own words I say I've made my life about reality avoidence. This is something I've been writing in my spare time. I hope you enjoy it.

    Prologue

"So tell me, how'd you meet him?"
"Well, it happened ten years ago. He saved me, my best friend, and my city. And he made a promise to me..."
    ----------------------------
"Come on Thomas! You don't wanna get caught do ya?"
"Wait up Kyle your faster than me!"
There was a white building with some faded lettering on a sign. From the left of the building came two kids running as fast as they could, each carrying a metal white board. "Now Thomas! Activate your board and follow me!" A young boy with messy brown hair pressed a red button on his board. He threw it to the ground and hopped on. The board glowed blue and then rose into the air and flew off. He was quickly followed by a boy with a black bowl cut and glasses. The two of the flew for a few blocks before landing behind a large black building. "So Thomas, you ready to play?" Thomas landed and adjusted his glasses. He was wearing a dirty white and blue striped shirt and some very old blue jeans. His black tennis shoes has a few holes here and there showing his feet inside. He scratched his head through his black hair and looked at the other boy with a worried look. "But Kyle, we're ditching. We could get in big trouble if we get caught by her men." Kyle ran his hands through his messy brown hair. He had a tattered old tan colored shirt on and some faded blue jean shorts on. His black sandals looked as though they would break in a few seconds. "Nah, her men won't find us. We're just that awsome. I mean, we got away with these new hoverboards easily right?"
Thomas sighed, "Yeah but aren't you worried or scared even a little?"
Kyle puffed out his chest. "No way! If we got scared of everything we would've stayed back there instead of coming here. You really need to lighten up Thomas. Now come on, let's play."
They picked up there hoverboards and went around to the front of the building. It was the only building on the block that looked like it had a regular stream of income. Every other building had faded signs and paint that was peeling in certain parts. The building there were going in strangely didn't have a sign. Inside the building it was revealed to be an arcade. Fighting games, shooting games, racing games, any kind of games you could think of. The two kids went and got some tokens before heading to a shooting game. Entering their tokens they started the game.

They played for a few hours until it happened. "Thomas, you shoot right and I'll shoot left!"
"Yeah!" They were on the final boss. They were easily shooting down its attacks and hitting its weak points. Suddenly they missed a move.
    CONTINUE? 10!
"Thomas, here's our last dollar! Go get tokens! Hurry!"
    9!
    "Right!"
    8!
    "Come on, Thomas hurry!"
    7!
    "Ok, I got the tokens!"
    6!
"Well then hurry back! We're almost out of time!"
    5!
"Her-whoa!" Thomas fell to the ground, tokens going everywhere.
    4!
"No! Thomas you idiot, grab them!" Both Kyle and Thomas franticlly searched the floor and grabbed what tokens they could.
    3!
"We need one more! Have you found one yet?"
    2!
"Got it! Quick, put them in the game!"
    1!
    "Hurry!"
    0! GAME OVER!
The kids fell to the ground. "Aw man. We almost beat the game." Kyle got angry and turned to Thomas. "Why'd you drop the tokens? We almost did it!" Thomas just looked down and in a sad voice said, "I'm sorry. I just tripped. It was an acident. Honest." Kyle got up and grabbed his board. "Yeah well what good is it now. We may as well go home. It's almost time anyways." Thomas got up and followed him outside. "Yeah. I wonder what our parents will think of us ditching?" The two were about to get on their boards when suddenly a man grabbed them both by their shirts. "So this is where you two were hiding. Shoulda known a couple brats wanted their games. Come on. Mistress is very angry at you two." Both boys froze instantly. "Mistress?" they said in unison. They turned to face the man. He had a helmet on that only left his mouth uncovered. He wore all black, black shirt, black pants, black boots, black gloves, a black gun strapped to his waist. "Yep," he answered, "Mistress wants to punish you personally." Thomas began to panic. "Oh please not her! Anybody but her! Please I beg you!" Kyle though instead of begging, quickly punche him in the groin. The man dropped to his knees and doubled over in pain. Kyle quickly got on his board and flew off, staying low to the ground so he would be faster. Suddenly Thomas was right behind him.
"Kyle! You just hit an Enforcer! Are you insane!" Kyle looked back. "No. I'm just not gonna go to her. I don't care what happens, I won't go to her!"
"Look out!" Thomas yelled. "Huh?" Kyle suudenly knew what Thomas meant. He turned around just in time to crash into a man. Surprisingly the man didn't even flinch. "Are you ok, little one?" Kyle looked up to see the man holding his board. He wore a tan hooded cloak that hid everything about him. Kyle was suddenly scared.

I'll post part 2 of the prologue later. Tell me what you think.

    Prologue Part 2

Kyle was suddenly scared. The stranger reached down and picked him up and placed him on his feet. "Are you alright?" Kyle looked at him a little fear showing in his face. "Uh, yeah. Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." The stranger smiled and handed him his board. "Well make sure you pay attention next time, alright?" Kyle's fear went away, he realized the man wasn't going to hurt him. "Ok mister."
"Stop right there!" Kyle and the stranger looked back. Thomas was desperately trying to run from the man in black from before. His hoverboard was a few feet back with a hole straight through the middle. "Kyle! Run!" The Enforcer quickly shot at Thomas's legs. Thomas went down fast holding his right foot. Kyle ran over to him but before he could do anything the Enforcer was there. "Now to pay you back for that hit, you little brat!" Kyle stood up and spread his arms while standing between the Enforcer and Thomas. "Leave him alone! I'm the one yhat hit you." The Enforcer chuckled a bit. "Who said I was gonna shoot him?" The Enforcer pulled the trigger and Kyle closed his eyes.
"You know, picking on kids isn't very nice." Kyle opened his eyes to see that the stranger had pushed the gun up at the last moment. The Enforcer was furious but instead of trying again he turned his attention to the one who stopped him. "And who the hell are you?" The stranger moved between the Enforcer and the kids. "Me? I'm just a drifter passing through."
"Then hurry and pass through. These kids aren't any of your buisness." The stranger nodded his head. "True they're not. But I'm a guy with values. I value the worth of a childs life. I'm not going to let you hurt them." The Enforcer grinned, "I wasn't gonna kill 'em. Just hurt 'em and drag them to mistress." The stranger didn't move, "Well if this mistress is fine with hurting kids then I'm not going to let you take them to see her." The Enforcer pointed his gun at the strangers head. "And just what are you gonna do about it?"
"You're really set on this, huh? Well fine, I'll make you a deal. You get one free punch. Hit me as hard as you can. If I make even the slightest wince of pain, I'll not only let you take the kids but I'll bring them myself." At this Kyle started to tell, "Hey wait a minute you can't just decide for us! You're not our-" The stranger cut him off, "But if I don't make any noise then you leave without them. Agreed?" The Enforcer chuckled, "A free hit, eh? Well fine. Take this!" The Enforcer pulled his right arm back and punched the stranger in the chest as hard as he could. The stranger didn't budge, or make the slightest indication that he even felt the hit. The Enforcer however pulles his arm back screaming in pain. "What the hell is under that cloak? It felt like I just punched metal. I think my hand is broken." The stranger laughed, "Oops, forgot to mention that I'm wearing armor. I kinda figured you'd punch me in the face." The Enforcer pointed his gun straight at the stranger. "This again?"
"Shut up! I'm gonna kill you and take the kids anyways. You should've just minded your own buisness." The Enforcer fired the gun, yet the stranger was gone. "Huh? Where'd he go?" The Enforcer looked around wildly trying to find him. "You know, maybe you should learn to aim before playing with dangerous little toys." The Enforcer spun around just in time to receive a knee in his gut. The stranger then punched him hard in the face. The Enforcer went flying back and landed six feet away. "Whoa." Both kids said in unison. They looked from the stranger then back to the Enforcer. "Now, you tell this mistress that she has one hour. Then I'll come to teach her proper manners." The Enforcer quickly got up and ran for his life.

"That was so cool! How'd you get behind him? Wheee'd you learn those moves? Did you really mean what you said?" Kyle was practcally hoping around the stranger in happyness. "Whoa, calm down little one. Now tell me, why was he after you? And who's this mistress?" Kyle stopped, "You mean, you don't know?" The stranger shook his head, "I mentioned before I was just passing through til you bumped into me. I have been here for more than ten minutes." Kyle sat down on his board and lookes up at him. "Well this place is Turga City. The city is ruled by some mean lady named Claire. She makes everybody pay big taxes and if they can't they get sent to the dig camps. Last month my family couldn't pay so we got sent there. She makes everyone dig for gems in the mines, even kids and old people. If you can hold the tools you're forced to work. We ditched and stole these hoverboards so we could have some fun instead of being her slaves. That Enforcer was going to take us to her for punishment and then throw us back in the minds." The stranger stood up. "Well now that won't do. A leader should care for all their people not themselves. First we'll take your friend someplace he'll get treated, then you'll take me to these mines." The stranger picked up Thomas who had been quietly crying about his foot. Kyle hopped up and activated his board. "Ok. Follow me."

    Prologue Part 3

    "And that's what happened."
"So you were beaten by some mere drifter?"
"Yes mistress." The Enforcer was bandaged and bowing down on a red carpet floor. He was speaking to a woman sitting in a throne of pure diamond. "He said in one hour he would come to teach you proper manners." The woman tapped her purple nails on arm of her throne. "How much time has passed since?"
    "About twenty minutes mistress."
"He'll probably head to the mines and free everybody first. Send a strike team there to boost security." The Enforcer nodded, "And you mistress?" The woman stoop up, "I'll deal with him myself."
    -------------------------------
"There! Those are the mines." Kyle was flying ahead on his hoverboard. The stranger was running behind him and easily keeping up. "So everybody is stuck in there?" Kyle nodded, "Yeah. It should be easy to get them out cause there's not... many... guards?" Suddenly a group of ten armed men came out from the mine entrance. Kyle stopped and hopped off his board. The stranger moved in front of him and stood there. "Seems they were waiting for me." One of the men stepped forward and yelled out to them. "We are under orders from the mistress, Lady Claire! You both are to surrender and come to her for punishment. We have been authorised to use deadly force. Now come forth with your hands in the air!" Kyle looked down and stepped forward raising his hands. Suddenly the stranger pushed him back. "Stay here and don't move a muscle." Kyle looked up at him and then looked at the men. "Do not try anything. Obey our commands and you will not be harmed."
"He's not going to listen boys. You may as well just shoot." The men turned to see a woman walking up. She was wearing a skin tight purple leather outfit with a large flowing purple cape. She had purple lipstick and eye shadow and black hair that went down her back. One of the men stepped forward and bowed to the woman. "Lady Claire! We did just as you commanded." She looked at him before turning her attention to Kyle and the stranger. "So your the ones causing this mess? Well can't say I'm impressed. You don't look all that dangerous." The stranger laughed, "And you must be Claire. Well it's nice to meet you. I was hoping you might start being a proper leader and treating your people with respect and dignity." Claire scowled at him, "Respect? Dignity? That's not how a leader should rule if they want obedience. They must have an iron-fist and exemplary power. I have both. Men, shoot him." The men raised their guns but the stranger had vanished once more. "Where'd he...?" Suddenly one of the men dropped down. Another two were quickly brought down by a fist to the face. Three more fell from a swift kick to the chest. Two more were taken out as one was thrown at the other. The last two had their heads banged together. The stranger stood up and looked towards Claire. "Well, are you impressed now?" Claire looked from him to her men then back to him. Her face showed utter fear. Without saying a word she ran away. The stranger quickly yelled to Kyle, "Hey kid, you free your people. I'll go get her." Suddenly he vanished. Kyle ran up annd grabbed some keys off one of the men. Then he ran inside, determined to free everyone.
    -------------------------------
Claire was panting heavily. She had started running as soon as she realized she couldn't beat him. Just who was he? she thought, And what's going to happen to me? She suddenly stopped running. The stranger was standing just three feet ahead of her. "Just who are you?! Who the hell are you!" Claire pulled out a knife from a hidden pocket and went to stab him but he caught her hand. "I am what people like you fear most. If you swear to leave this town right now, I'll let you go unharmed." Claire glared at him, "And if I refuse?"
"I let you back into town and all the people can do what they want with you." Claire thought it over. "I'll leave. Just let me get things from my-" The stranger cut her off. "No. You leave with what you have on you." He let go of Claire's wrist and stepped back. "At least show me who you are before you make me leave. I deserve that much." The stranger looked at ger for a moment. "Fine." He reached up and pulled off his hood. Claire stepped back in shock. "You."

    Prologue Final Part

"Is everybody ok?" Kyle's question got multiple responses from all the people gathered outside the mine. Kyle was busy checking that everybody was ok when the stranger walked up. "Hey mister! Everybody, this is the guy that saved us." The stranger was instantly bombarded with thanks and offers from all the people. He was surrounded and saw no way to back out. Finally he jumped up high and landed outside the grateful mob. "People! I'm happy that your free and humbled by your thanks. But I can't stay. I was just drifting through on my way to Capital City. I really should be going now." Some of the mob cheered thanks, others cheered for him to stay. Kyle tore hjmself away from the group and ran up to him. "Do you really have to go mister? Why don't you stay here?" The stranger knelt down so that he was eye level with Kyle. "Look little one, this isn't where I belong. I have a purpose in life that I must fufil. Your purpose right now is to stay here and grow up into a man. Someday you'll understand." Kyle stared into the hooded face of the stranger, "Then let me come with you. You could teach me those cool moves and I could help you out with whatever you need." The stranger shook his head. "No little one. You must stay here. I just said I have something I must do. Well that something is at Capital City. If you really want to see me then when you're old enough, come find me. Now I must go. This is goodbye." The stranger stoid up and said farewell to all the people before walking off in the direction of the capital. The people all cheered their thanks and good-byes as he left before they all turned back towards each other to figure out what should be done now that Claire was gone. Kyle though wouldn't take no for an answer. When the people weren't looking he grabbed his hoverboard and flew off after the stranger.
    ---------------------------
A light was flashing next to a blank screen. A gloved finger tapped the light and the screen flickered to life. There was text on the screen along with a picture. Then a voice was heard, deep and commanding. "A bounty, huh? Jet! Vira! We've got a job." Two voices replied in unison, "Yes, Lord Byron."
    ----------------------------
The surroundings were stone pillars in a barren wasteland. The landscape looked like this pretty much everywhere where a city wasn't. To power the cities, the life was drained from the surrounding landscape. It was through this that the stranger walked. In the sky above him, Kyle was following on his hoverboard. The stranger sighed and yelled out, "Go home kid. I'm not going to train you and you shouldn't look up to me." In an undertone that Kyle wouldn't hear he added, "Not after what I've done" Kyle pretended not to hear him thinking that if he didn't acknowledge the comment, the stranger would think he was getting paranoid. It didn't work. "Kid, either you go home or I'll make you go home." Yeah right. Even you can't get me up here mister. You've got a minute kid." Kyle figured he was bluffing and continued moving above him. Towards the end of the minute the stranger just stopped. Is he gonna try to get me? The stranger looked up and crouched down as if to make a jump for Kyle. Suddenly Kyle's hoverboard was shot through. He started falling rapidly to the ground. He screamed for help and without missing a beat, the stranger leapt up and grabbed him. "You ok?" Kyle nodded. "Yeah, but how'd you shoot my board?" The stranger landed and stood Kyle behind him. "I didn't"
"Fast reaction time, incredible leap, tattered cloak and small boy. You're the one we're looking for." The stranger looked around. That voice! I know him! "Hehe, he looks like he's still gonna be fun to play with." I know her voice to. "Quit fooling around. This is a job not a playdate." So it's those three huh? Just great. There was an explosion in front of the stranger and Kyle. Kyle covered his eyes and looked away. When he looked back there was three people standing in the explosion crater. The one to there left was a man with slicked blue hair. He wore a black tank that showed his muscles along with black pants and black combat boots. To there right was a girl the couldn't have been older than 20. She wore a black short sleeve shirt as well as a black skirt that didn't reach past her knees. She had a ponytail made with her emerald green hair. The one in the middle though looked the most dangerous. He had short blond hair and black gloves on his hands. he wore a gold shirt with a black jacket over it. His black jeans were torn in a couple places. The steanger stepped forward but still made sure Kyle was behind him.

"So this what you three do now? Attack children? I thought you of all people were betted than that, Byron." The man in the middle stepped forward. "Don't worry, I am better than that. Jet's the one that shot at him." The man to Byrons left laughed. "And I almost hit him to. I just need a bit more practice." The woman simply crossed her arms. "We're here on a job. That's what you said not even one minute ago. Sound familiar!?" Jet backed up a bit. "Geez lighten up Vira." Byron stepped forward, "Anyways, we're here for you." The stranger didn't move or even sound surprised, "So how much did she offer you?" Byron showed no surprise that he knew, "You could put it better as what she's offering everyone. She didn't hire us, she place a bounty on your head. The highest bounty in history. Her entire trillion fortune, all for your head." The stranger looked back at Kyle. "You may want to leave kid." Kyle however shook his head and ran up to Byron. "This mister is a nice guy. You leave him alone!" All three laughed, "You say we've gone low? You gonna let some kid fight for you?" The stranger stayed silent. "Look kid, he's not a nice guy. Believe me, I know him personally. Isn't that right? Death Demon?" Kyle looked back at the stranger. "There... there was a reason... a reason I didn't want you to follow me." The stranger pulled back his hood and Kyle finally got to see the face of his hero. He had pointed ears and spiked red hair. His eyes were pure red, the whites, the pupils, all blood red. Kyle recognized the features from the stories. A demon that slaughtered thousands in the last two of the four great wars. He single-handly destroyed a three-thousand man army in just seven minutes. His atrocities were legendary. No one that ever stood before him lived to see another day. The man was a monster.
Kyle saw this and tears welled in his eyes, his hero was a villan. Kyle ran off crying while the demon looked at the ground with a solemn look. "Aw, cheer up Demon. You'll be dead soon." The demon looked up and glared at Byron. "No. I've still got something I must do before I die."

Kyle was running home. His hero was actually one of the greatest evils known to the planet. As he ran he couldn't help but remember. He always spoke in a calm and friendly voice. He only disabled all the men, never causing a permanent injury. He saved his entire town, and wanted nothing in return. Kyle stopped running and turned back. His hero wasn't a villan. Whoever he may have been, he wasn't that way now. Just as Kyle realized that, one of the stone pillars to his left was shattered. From the rubble, the demon stood up. He had lost his cloak and was wearing a full suit of black and red armor. Suddenly Byron appeared with a gold sword and slashed. The demon dodged and jumped back only for jet to come up and attack with a blue spear. The demon kicked it away and went for a kick but was parried by the kick of Vira wearing black guantlets and shinguards of metal. It continued with the demon only dodging and parrying for several minutes. Suddenly Byron was hit with a rock in the back of his head. He turned to see Kyle through another which he caught and crushed in his hand. But the opening was all the demon needed. In two swift hits Jet was down unconcious. A few blows later and Vira was doubled over in pain. Byron turned and attacked with his sword but the demon appeared behind him with a strong kick. All three were down. Byron coughed up some blood. "Leave Byron. Don't force me to kill you." Byron glared at him before running over to Jet and Vira. "Just remember this isn't over!" He muttered a few words and suddenly the three of them vanished in a golden light. Kyle ran up to the demon. They stared at each other for a moment before the demon looked away. "Is it true? Are you the Death Demon?" The demon merely nodded, unable to bring himself to speak.

"Cool!" The demon looked back in shock. Kyle was smiling from ear to ear. "That is so cool! I helped the legendary Death Demon!" Kyle was practically dancing in joy. The demon smiled and knelt down. "How old are you kid? And what's your name?" Kyle quickly turned and answered. "I'm Kyle. I'm only eight years old." The demon smiled, "Eight huh? Well tell you what, how would you like to be trained as a warrior?" Kyle's grin got bigger, if that was even possible to begin with. "You mean it?" The demon nodded. "Yep, I'll train you. Just not yet." Kyle suddenly looked confused. "Huh?"
"You're too young right now. So I'll make you this promise. In ten years, come find me in Capital City. Have some sword skill and a way to fly then find me. I'll test you and if you pass my test, I promise to train you." Kyle held out his hand. "Its a promise." he said with a smile on his face. The demon smiled and shook his hand. "Promise."
    -------------------------
It's been ten years. A man with scruffy brown hair and worn blue clothes grabs a large white hoverboard and a sword in a black sheath and heads out the door. "Time to fufil a promise."

Chapter One: The Beginning's of A Legend

Capital City, hundreds of skyscrapers make up the city. There are a few small buildings between the massive towers but mostly the city is known for reaching for the heavens. There's hundreds of different people and demons walking on the streets andeven more flying around with various forms of transportation. One person flew around on a white hoverboard. He was wearing some tattered blue jeans and a blue shirt with a tan jacket. There was a sword strapped to his back. His brown hair was being slicked back by the wind and he had a smile on his face. Today I'll find you. Just as promised. The eightteen year old boy remembered a face. The face of a demon, a demon that changed his life. "Hey watch it!" The teen looked up and saw he was about to crash into a hovercar coming right at him. Without pausing he jumped up ran on top of the hovercar and jumped back onto his hoverboard. It was almost as if he had planned it. The teen kept flying until there was a sudden explosion a couple miles to his left. He steadied himself before turning and heading over to help.
    ----------------------------
"Leave. Me. Alone!" A large muscular man was punched in the face. A group of people slowly cornered a man in a tan hooded cloak. Suddenly one man jumped at him. He recieved a kick to the gut. A few more ran at him and suddenly he was fighting the entire group. "Are you locked on?" Some members of the group were slammed into a wall. "Yeah." The last of the group was knocked out. "Good. I'd hate for a repeat of last time." The man began to run off. Nobody followed or stopped him. "Fire." A man with slicked blue hair steadied his aim before launching a rocket at the running man. "Damn. I overshot." The rocket landed in front of the running man and exploded. When the smoke cleared The man stood up and tore off the little that remained of his cloak. "Your aim's improving Jet. But you could still use practice." Jet came down and slammed at the man with his spear. "Shut up, Demon." The demon looked around calmly. "Where's Byron and Vira? You guys never make a move alone. Or did you split?"
"None of your concern. Now either fight or surrender!" Jet began stabbing with his spear. The demon used his armored arms to deflect every blow. Jet quickly pulled back and spun his scythe. Suddenly a blonde man wearing black and gold came down atop the demon with a slash. "Byron. You're late to the party." Byron jumped back and then leapt forward with a stab. "Jet told you to shut up Demon!" The demon blocked the slash and then started to parry or dodged every move Jet and Byron did. Suddenly a woman came in with a swift kick at the demon's chest. Her eyes widened in shock as the demon had grabbed her foot. "You know Vira, if you're going to fight this way then maybe you shouldn't wear a skirt." He quickly spun her before throwing her to the ground. "Shut up." The demon jumped back and sighed. "You three were better the last time we fought two weeks ago. What's happened? I get-" The demon suddenly stopped as a loud crash was heard behind him. He turned his head to see a very large man wearing a red shirt and blue jeans. He stood at eight feet and had muscles as big as a childs body. He had black brass knuckles on each hand and was throwing a punch at the demon. "Oh f***." The demon was hit hard in the chest and sent flying through the third floor of a nearby building. He came out on the fourth floor on the buildings other side before falling back to the street. He quickly got up rubbing his chest. "Ouch. I felt that through my armor." The giant man ran up ready to tackle the demon. He missed though as the demon leapt over him. "So who's he?" Byron came up with a slash at the demons head. "That is Crush. Not very bright but he's very strong." Jet and Vira both came in with a strong attack at the demons back. He quickly dodged and placed his right hand on the ground. "Looks like I have to get serious." The demons red eyes glowed. He stood up and slapped his hands together. As he pulled them apart there was a red glow. The glow soon became a sword. The blade was as red as his eyes and the handle was blacker than night. He grasped it in his right hand and readied himself. "Come!"

    Chapter Two: A Promised Meeting

The demon quickly raised his sword as Byron struck at his head. The swords sparked from the impact but had no time to cool off as the demon whirled it through the air to strike back. Byron spun and deflected the blade. "What's wrong? You're getting sloppy Demon!" Jet kicked off Byron's back before bringing his scythe down with massive strength. The demon quuckly leapt away but before he could take a breath he was quickly avoiding Vira's punches and kicks. He was soon backed into a wall when Crush came in with a massive punch. The demon moved his head and the punch shattered the wall behind him. Crush isn't as big of a threat as I first thought, however he is enough to turn the tables against me. The demon was thinking, trying to figure a way out without having to kill them. He leapt back and smiled. "You all work so hard at trying to catch me but I have to ask, is the trouble I give you really worth the money?" Byron ran forward and clashed with the demon. "Probably not, but we have a personal grudge against you as well." The demon frowned, "You three are still angry about that?" The two broke away from each other and Jet came in slamming his spear where the demon was a moment ago. "We'll never forgive you for the humiliation we've gone through because of you." The demon ran up and gave a swift punch to Jet's head. He fell unconcious immediately. "You need to learn how to move on." Vira came up from behind and threw the demon into the air. "Just shut up and die Demon!" Crush positioned himself below the demon, ready to kill him when he landed. The demon however muttered a few words. Suddenly wings of blood red energy sprouted from his back and he stopped falling. "I have no intention of dying."
"So you think you can just open your wings and fly away?" Byron stepped forward and looked straight at him. "I think it may help. Why?" Byron looked down and muttered some words. Suddenly his body glowed gold. "I don't think flight will help." Byron leapt up and began slashing at the demon. Instead of fighting back he simply flew higher. But instead of falling down, Byron stayed floating. "So you've learned how to fly?" Byron smirked, "We know more than that." Without warning Vira appeared in front of the demon and was about to kick him. However she was slammed to the ground. "Three on one isn't very fair don't you think?" The demon's eyes widened before he began to laugh. "I was wondering when I'd see you again, if at all. So you want help me? Do you think you're strong enough? Kyle." The teen simply drew his sword and aimed his hoverboard down at Byron. "Just try to keep up Demon!" Kyle leapt off his hoverboard and used the momentum of his fall speed to slash at Byron. Byron raised his sword to block but couldn't stop the power behind the hit. His golden sword was sliced through and Byron took a slash from his left shoulder to his right hip. Blood gushed from the wound as Byron stumbled back. Crush ran up to kill Kyle but was quuckly surrounded by red light. Suddenly attacks came from the light smacking Crush around until the light formed itself into the demon and he kicked Crush down. Kyle looked around and then sheathed his sword. "Well the sword guy can't fight back, spear dude is out cold, and muscle head just dropped. It seems like you're the only one left girl." Vira scowled but knew she was beat. She went over to Byron and he muttered a few words. The four of them then vanished in a golden light.

The demon stopped the spell he used to form his wings and sword. The two simply vanished into thin air. Kyle went over and picked up his board. "Have some sword skill and a way to fly, then come find me. I'll test you and if you pass my test, I promise I'll train you." The demon laughed, "Have you been living by the words I told you that day?" Kyle laughed, "No but they did give me a goal. Now I have some skill, which you saw. A way to fly via my hoverboard. And I must've found you. Or am I speaking to some other legendary Death Demon?"
"You still have to pass my test."
"Considering all the training I've been doing, I don't think some test will be hard." The demon smirked as he walked towards Kyle. "Then you've never taken a demon's test." Kyle scoffed, "Can't be too hard no can it? Anyways shouldn't we get out of here? More people will come to get your bounty. And unless the test is gonna be to protect you, I don't want to fight them." The demon closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "Do you have some place to go?" The demon shook his head. "Well I've got a place. With a large training area to. Its just outside Capital City." The demon opened his eyes. "Then what do you say, I post-pone your test until we get there?" Kyle jumped on hus hoverboard and activated it. "Follow me."

    Chapter Three: The Demon's Test

"This is where you live? A cave?" Kyle laughed "You'd be surprised." The demon laughed as well. "Well considering you entrance I should expect something grand now shouldn't I?" Kyle simply smiled and walked in. The demon followed quietly. They were about a half mile in when they came to a dead end. "This is it?" Kyle shook his head. Then he pulled out his sword and jammed it into a hole in the cave wall. "No, this is it." Kyle turned his sword and suddenly part of the wall moved back revealing a large chamber. "Wow." The demon stood in awe of what was done with the chamber. To his left was a super high tech computer system, to his right was a large area for training. Kyle took his sword out from a second hole as the wall moved back into place. "There's an advanced cpu setup so I can get the latest info as quickly as possible. A training ground with a special sheild generator to keep the training confine while allowing as fierce training as possible. Six bedrooms each with its own closet, shower, toilet, and hot tub. And there's a kitchen that even world class chefs would drool for." The demon turned to him. "How? Did you build all this or find it?" Kyle put his sword and hoverboard on a couple stands near the training area.
"After you freed us from Claire, my town prospered. My parents went back to work and I returned to school. My parents worked as scientists and discovered a massive amount of geo-thermal energy in the mountain. They received a contract from Capital City to hook up the cities power grid to the energy. In two years, Capital City went from most polluted to most eco friendly on the planet. This cavern was dug out when they were connecting the machines to the power network. When I found out about this I asked them if I coukd use it and they made all the arrangements. As long as I fix up the machines when they break I can live here. I had them install what was wanted and needed as well as hook everything into the energy grid. The only time I have to leave is to get more food when I run out."
"Impressive. So you've been living here for the past few years training for when you'd find me. Am I right?" Kyle had gone into the kitchen and came back with a sandwhich in his mouth. "Uo ay uming?"(You say something?) The demon laughed. Kyle swallowed his bite before speaking again. "Sorry, but what is it you said?" The demon waved his hand, "Nevermind it. Now, are you ready for your test?" Kyle facepalmed himself, "Oh yeah. I forgot about that." Kyle finished his sandwhich before continuing. "So what is it? An intelligence test? A fitness test? A skills test? What?" The demon walked over to the training area and then turned to face him. "A demon's test. The same test my father put me through before he would train me." Kyle grabbed his sword and entered the training field. "So what's a demon test?"
"It's a dangerous test. If you fail a demon's test, you die." Kyle's eyes widenend in shock. "I'll die if I fail? Well what's the test?" The demon smiled, "Simply really. You have twenty-four hours starting as soon as you accept. You may use whatever you want, whether its weapons, trickery or even help. I however may only use my fists, and my knowledge. You must land one direct hit on me within the time limit. Or I'll kill you." Kyle stoid questioning what to do. How can he say that so calmly and with a smile on his face? If I accept and lose I die. However if I choose life he won't train me. What to do, what to do?! The demon held up his hand. "I know it seems harsh, try having your father say it to you. But this is really the best way. If you pass then I'll have first hand knowledge of your skill meaning I'll be able to teach you what you need to know and not what you may have learned. If you want to become a warrior you must risk your life everytime you draw your weapon. This also tests your devotion to your goals and willingness to risk your life. So, will you accept." Kyle took a moment to think about everything the demon said. Finally he said his answer. "Bring it." He drew his sword and charged.

Chapter Four: The Answer To The Test

Kyle slashed to his right to parry the armored fist of the demon. "Good reflexes." Suddenly the demon tripped him from behind. "But not good at keeping up with high speed." Kyle rolled back and stood with his sword at the ready. "Who can keep up when you move fast enough to be invisible?" The demon smiled, "You'd be surprised. Its something I'll have to teach you. Now stay focused." He charged up and spun for a roundhouse kick. Kyle ducked under and tried to stab the demon but he vanished and came down from above punching Kyle in the back. He quickly flipped back and stood waiting for Kyle to get up. Kyle got onto his knees panting heavily. "This is impossible. Everytime I'm about to hit you, you speed away."
"I'm doing it the same way my father taught me. I found the secret to the fight and manged to get a direct hit to his face. Broke his nose with it to." Kyle scoffed as he stood up. "Yeah but you're a demon. You're stronger than a human." The demon smiled, "I was only sixteen in the age of my kind. Compared to a human I was only four. I was both weaker and younger than you are now and I did it. Now don't complain since your just wasting time. You've already wasted seven hours." The demon vansished and came up from behind with a kick but this time Kyle was ready and spun out of the way and quickly tried to slash him. Again he vanished and reappeared with a punch. Kyle remembered that as well and slashed at him as he dodged. Once more the demon vanished and hit Kyle. "You're improving, but you still don't see it." Kyle got up and began rapidly slashing at the demon. The demon simply dodged every slash and continued talking. "Swordsmanship is not just hacking away with your sword. It's an art of subtlety. You must both read your opponent and choose the appropriate counter to their move. The winner is always the one that reads their enemy best. For instance by looking at how you move your wrists I can see your next slash before you start it. By looking at how your moving your legs, I can tell where you'll be before you even realize to go there. By looking at your arms I can see how much power is behind your attacks. To an expert like me, a single glance at you and I know what you'll do and when you'll do it." Kyle slashed down to strike but the demon caught his hand. "Do you understand what I'm saying, Kyle?"
    -------------------------------------
Kyle was exhausted. He had a cut on his head and blood was running down his face. The demon however didn't have a scratch on him. "Only half an hour left Kyle. Then you will be dead." Kyle gritted his teeth and rushed forward. The demon vansished and appeared with multiple strikes. Each one Kyle countered. Kyle went for a high kick but the demon flipped under to hit him from behind. Kyle twisted himself so that it missed before Kyle slashed at him. The demon jumped up and came down with a kick. Kyle spun himself away just enough to dodge before he counter with a kick of his own. The demon caught his foot and threw him. Kyle rolled and went straight back to his feet. "Very good. That was the longest we've went since we started. A little more and you could have hit me." Kyle smirked, "Don't worry. The next attack I lauch will hit." The demon smiled and vanished. He reappeared with a flurry of kicks. Kyle began parrying every blow. I'm starting to see. I can tell where his kicks are and I'm just fast enough to block them. I'm starting to see the blur of him when he vanishes. I'm slowly adjusting to his speed. Each move he makes is becoming clearer as the fight goes on. I think I understand. I... I can see... Kyle spun down as the demon lauched a roundhouse. Kyle went for a slash on his leg but once more the demon vanished. Kyle reacted quickly and flipped his sword behind him hitting the demon in the middle of the chest. "I told you. The next attack I lauch will hit. I pass your test."
"Good job. After you get some rest. I'll train you."

Chapter Five: A Friend In Need

"Move your feet more." Kyle quickly spun back to dodge a kick. The demon flipped up and came rushing in with some punches. Kyle began to move out of the way when he was quickly tripped. The demon was instantly on top of him with his fist drawn back. "You're still not moving your feet enough. It's far to easy to trip you." The demon got off and stood up while Kyle continued to lay there. "Come on, get up. We're not done with today's session." Kyle grunted and stood up. "What's the point? I can't beat you, even when your holding back. What's this training supposed to do anyways huh?" The demon sighed, "For the past week since we've started we've been doing hand-to-hand combat training and everytime I'd knock you down you'd complain. If you don't want my training then I'll leave. Suffice to say I do have something I need to do." Kyle sighed, "Sorry, it's just I don't think I'm getting any better. I'm grateful your training me just I'm not seeing any results."
"You won't, at first. Training isn't an instant way to get better. It's a gradual process that takes a different amount of time for each person. You're actually a fast learner but you still won't see instant results. Now come on, get into your stance."
    -------------------------------------
The two were sitting at a table having a dinner of pasta. "You know, if you ever want to quit being a warrior, you'd make an excellent chef." Kyle smiled a bit. "Thanks, glad you like it." The two ate in silence for a while. Kyle finally broke the silence with a question he's been wanting to ask. "What is it you have to do? Earlier you mentioned you'd have something to do if you weren't training me. What did you mean?" The demon stayed silent, slowly eating his food. "If I'm holding you back from doing whatever it is then you can go. I don't want to be a burden to you or-"
"Your not. It's something I've gotta do. Some business from my past that needs to be resolved. You're not holding me back or anything. In fact your giving me something to do. I can't do what I need to until an exact timeframe. Its a few months off so I'll be training you till then." Kyle stared at him but he was keeping his head down. "What is it? Maybe I can help in some way." The demon let out a chuckle, "No. This, this is something I'll have to do. In the meantime you should concentrate on the task at hand. Thanks for the food. It was excellent." The demon got up and walked out. I just don't get him. I've asked questions and he's given me straight answers with a cheery attitude. Its only when I asked about his past that he gets all depressed. I wonder what happened to make him like that. And another subject he avoids is why he always wears his armor. I've never seen him take it off. Kyle finished up his food before grabbing the plates and starting to wash them.
    -------------------------------------
The demon was sitting outside, staring at the night sky. It's been almost thirty years. I wonder...what could've happened...if it never happened... He sighed and stood up, about to back inside when Kyle came running out. "Hey, did you happen to use the computer at all?" The demon nodded, "Yes, why?"
"Because suddenly its locked onto a set a moving coordinates and the message 'Target Found' is up and I never set up a search." The demon looked surprised but was suddenly very serious, "Where are the coordinates?" Kyle thought for a moment, "Somewhere in Groda City, about thirty miles from here. Why?" The demon turned, "If you wanna come along you'd better get your board. I'm going to pay a visit to an old friend."

Chapter Six: A Not-So Happy Reunion

"You keeping up okay?" Kyle nodded. He was on his hoverboard about ten feet behind the demon, who was using his wings to fly. "Who's this friend?" The demon smiled, "Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll get along fine." The two continued at high speed into a large but rundone city. They passed a faded sign on the way that read 'Groda City: Home of the Net Prison'.
    -------------------------------------
"I said BACK OFF!" A man was kicked in the face by a gold leather boot and sent back into a wall. Surprisingly he got up without showing any signs of pain. "GO AWAY!" The man was hit back again but once more got up easily. "Oh come on, did you forget about me?" He was kicked back again. "Believe me, I've been trying." The man got up but instead of getting hit he quickly grabbed the foot before he was hit. "Uh-uh sweety, that move is gettin' old." He was holding the leg of a woman wearing blue jeans and a gold leather jacket. She had bright yellow eyes with no pupil and flowing blonde hair the barely covered her pointed ears. "Let go creep!" The man smiled, "Now why should I, when you haven't even kissed me hello?"
"Because she said so." The man looked behind him to see the demon standing a foot away. "Hey... ain't you that real scary demon guy?" The demon smiled, "I see my reputation presides me. So you know what'll happen if you don't leave her be?" The man dropped her foot and turned around fully. "Nope. Guess you'll have to teach me huh?" He slammed his fists together and rushed him. "Kyle, if you would." With a yell, Kyle dropped in from above and gave a single slash to the man from his right shoulder to his left knee. He instantly fell to the ground. The demon knelt down and smiled. "Now you'll leave, or my apprentice will get some more practice in. Ok?" The man nodded, tears in his eyes from the pain. Without a word he scrambled to his feet and limped out of the building as fast as his injured body could. Kyle sheathed his sword and looked at the demon. "Practice? Come on. That guy wouldn't have been practice for me before you started training me." The demon smiled. "Even so, he left and you did good."
"Oh will you both shut up." The two looked to see the woman getting up and dusting herself off. "Why the hell are you here Demon? I thought I told you I never wanted to see you again." The demon smiled, "Still holding that grudge Mary? I thought by now you'd at least be alright with seeing me. It's been a hundred years. And why couldn't you take him out? Your skills got rusty or something?" Mary flipped her hair back. "No, I was about to when you stepped in. And why wouldn't I be angry still. You ki-"
"Could you not bring that up? Besides, I need your help." Mary scoffed, "Hah! The great Death Demon needs me? For what? Is there an army you can't fight? Or do you need help ruling the world?" The demon laughed, "Still with that humor, though the second option sounds fun. But seriously I need help in training him." Mary lokked at Kyle, who promptly looked away. "Him? And don't think I didn't notice you starin' boy." Kyle blushed and mumbled something. "Speak up! I couldn't hear that." Kyle blushed more, "Well... your... very b-beauti-beautiful."
Mary smiled "Well isn't that nice?" She turned her attention back to the demon. "And how do you need help? The last student you trained was going fine, until he died." Kyle looked up, "Died? How?" The demon looked down, "That's something for another time Kyle. Now Mary, will you help? For old times sake?" Mary looked long and hard at the demon. "No. You do it." The demon smiled, "So are you going to be bringing anything or would you prefer the silent stalking I can tell that you're planning?" Mary scowled, "How do you always know?" Thr demon shrugged. "It's a gift." Mary scowled more as Kyle laughed.

Chapter Seven: So How'd This Start?

"So you live here?" Kyle nodded. "Yeah, me and my parents worked everything so it's liveable." Mary was looking around at everything. "This place is great! So which would be my room?" Kyle hastily walked over to her. "Here. I'll show you the open rooms and you can have which ever one you like." Him and Mary walked off down a hall. Meanwhile the demon set down about thirty suitcases. He looked rather exhausted. "I hope she didn't forget anything."
    -------------------------------------
The three were eating dinner. Kyle was smiling, the demon looked lost in thought, and Mary was starting her third plate. "This is amazing! Where'd you learn to cook? You could be world class." The demon smiled, "Told'ya." Kyle blushed, "Well I learned from my uncle. He was a chef." Mary finished her plate and got up for another. Kyle looked at the demon who just shrugged and went back to his food.
    -------------------------------------
"Well I'm gonna go take a shower now. Don't either of you try anything perverted." The demon smiled, "We won't. Not like there's anything to look at anyways." He was quickly smacked in the face. She walked off and the demon had a bloody nose. "You know I'm joking, Mary." She ignored him and slammed the door. Kyle started laughing. "Man that was stupid. If you know her and could predict her then why taunt her so she'd hit you?" The demon rubbed his nose, "Cause she knows me just as well. And if I didn't joke around then she'd think I was going to peek in or something." Kyle shrugged. "Either way, I know what I'm going to do." He got up and turned to head towards her room. Before he could walk though the demon grabbed him and dragged him off to the training grounds, much to Kyle's protest.
    -------------------------------------
Mary stepped onto the training ground dressed in a light shirt and some shorts. She looked and saw Kyle had a broken nose and a large bruise on his head. Meanwhile the demon looked relatively annoyed. "You still don't move your feet enough."
"So you started training? I guess you're good for your word." Kyle blushed and the demon smiled. "Ok, Kyle. That's all for today. I'm gonna go sleep." The demon turned and went to his room. Meanwhile Kyle sat down at the table and grabbed an ice pack for his head. Mary went and joined him. "So, how's the training with the Death Demon?" Kyle sighed. "Intense. He keeps nagging me about how I don't move my feet enough."
"Well then move them more. If you keep your feet planted it's easier to trip you. The only time you need to keep still is when you're trying to keep your balance on an extremly small amount of ground. That's when flexibility is needed. Does he have you do any special stretches or exercises?" Kyle shook his head. "Nope. We pretty much head out there, he'll tell me what he's gonna do then I have to do my best to counter and last. If I do then he'll start something else but if I don't then we repeat until I do. He says I'm learning fast but my still feet are gonna kill me." Mary smiled, "Well then maybe you should try Kogan. It's a series of flexibility exercises that reminds people of dancing. I used to have the same problem until my sensei had me learn Kogan. After a couple lessons my problem was gone." Kyle looked at her thoughtfully, "Would you teach me that? Or does he know that?" Mary shrugged, "As far as I know he never had any problems. A true prodigy of his clan. Best they've seen in a few thousand years. I'd probably teach you that. Maybe that's why he asked me to help." Kyle looked down, "You know a lot about him. He doesn't speak about his past." Mary grabbed a cup and poured some water in it. "Well we're childhood friends. If he hasn't told you his past then it's probably for the best. I'm not gonna say more than I have cause if he hasn't told you then he doesn't want you to know." Kyle adjusted his ice pack. "I don't really want to know much. Just a few things. How'd he get the title Death Demon? How old is he? He's a demon so what kind of demon? Did he ever have a family? Di-"
"That actually sounds like a lot. I'll tell you a couple things though. He's a few thousand years old. And he's a Lunar Everto, or moon demon. He's also the last one there is." Kyle looked stunned. "The last one? What happened to the rest of his race? And he's a few thousand years old? Then how old are you? You said you're a childhood friend." Mary slapped him, "Weren't you ever taught not to ask a lady her age? Either way, I've lost track of my age it's been so long. He's about a hundred years older than me though. As for his race... that's something even I don't want to talk about. Considering I'm the last of my race too." Kyle looked up at her, "And what exactly are you?" Mary flipped her hair back. "The opposite of a Lunar Everto. I'm a Solar Everto. A sun demon. Our clans were complete opposites, absolutely hated each other until the First Grand War. That's when our clans became allies and soon their fates intertwined. I was born right after the war while he was born right before it." Mary took a drink and suddenly brightend up. "Well enough about me. There's something I've been wanting to ask." Kyle looked up, "What? I'll answer anything."
"So tell me, how'd you meet him?"
"Well, it happened ten years ago. He saved me, my best friend, and my city. And he made a promise to me..."

Chapter Eight: Return Of The Lost

"Ok, now stretch your leg this way and bend your arm this way." Kyle tried to mimic what Mary was doing but in a matter of seconds he fell over. "You need some help?" Kyle got back up and dusted his legs off. "No, I just find it impossible to bend that way." Mary chuckled, "I did too at first. But as I kept trying, my body eventually did what was needed. Now lets try again." Kyle groaned as Mary smiled and they began doing the stretch again. The demon looked on from a distance. Good thing I never had to take Kogan. That looks painful.
    -------------------------------------
    "Ready?"
"No. My whole body hurts." The demon laughed. "You haven't begun to know pain yet Kyle. Now lets start." The demon charged at Kyle and began punching. Kyle did his best to dodge and block when suddenly the demon tripped him and jumped back. "I think you should go back to Kogan, Kyle. You still don't move your feet." Kyke grunted and flipped himself up before charging at the demon. He kick but was easily dodged. Before the demon moved though Kyle threw out a punch. The demons' eyes widenend and he quickly vanished and appeared behind Kyle. But he was anticipated. Kyle had spun his kick around and hit the demon square in the chest. The demon stumbled back from the unexpected hit and Kyle took the opportunity to spin around and aim a punch for his face. The demon smiled and vanished. Kyle turned around to hit him but was suddenly hit from behind. "A smart warrior never uses the same trick too much. I've been using my speed to appear and attack from behind. You began to learn it and set up appropriate reactions but just now, I vanished and you spun around only to be attacked from the direction you just ignored. I let you assume I always attacked from the back so that when I decided to make my move, you wouldn't see it coming. That's one of the fundamentals of fighting, expect the unexpected." Kyle grunted as he got up. "Still though, that was quite good Kyle. You really have improved since I started training you." Kyle smirked, "Thanks now lets get back to business." The demon smirked and they charged at each other.
    -------------------------------------
Kyle was sitting at the computer doing various things while Mary was napping and the demon was outside meditating. Kyle stretched his arms and yawned. Pretty quiet tonight. I'm gonna need to go stock up on food soon. I wonder if- A loud explosion was heard. Kyle quickly typed up something in the computer as Mary can out. "What was that?" Kyle quickly got up and grabbed his sword. "Cpu says that wasn't a normal quake or rock slide. Come on!" The two of them rushed out to see the demon looking up, his eyes wide with shock. "So Mary, your here to?" Mary froze and looked up as well. "It can't be..."
"Can't be what?" Kyle looked at the two before looking up. He saw Byron and his crew but there was one more. "So Xenex, I see you've taken another apprentice. Is he any good?" Kyle looked at him for a moment before looking at Mary and the demon. Xenex? Is that his name? "What's wrong? Is it really that shocking to see me alive? Well either way I'm going to kill you."
"What happened Novek? You vanished after the-"
"Shut up. You have no idea what it was like. I misfire a spell and vanish. When I come to I find out that everyone I ever cared about is dead! And its all your fault!"
"That was an acident Novek! I never meant to hurt them!" Novek looked at him with disgust. "Spare me your lies. At least accept your punishment and die honorably." Novek brought out his weapon and that's when Kyle noticed something. His armor looked almost exactly like the demon's but it was silver and gold instead of black and red. His sword looked similar as well. "Uh... who is this guy?" Mary finally managed to talk. "That's... that's Novek. He's... he's..." That's when the demon came in.
    "He's my brother."

Chapter Nine: The Truth Behind His Title

"His brother? But... didn't you say he was the last of his kind?" Mary nodded, "We thought he was dead which would make him the last Lunar Everto." Novek began to fly down to attack. Before anybody else could react the demon was already in the air matching blades with him. Kyle and Mary got ready to go help when Byron dropped down in front of them. "Nobody is to interfere with them. You want to get involved then you go through us." He turned back to look at the brothers. "Besides I doubt any of us could stop that without dying." Mary and Kyle both relented and looked up to see them.
    -------------------------------------
"You're gonna pay for killing everyone, brother."
"I'm telling you it was an acident!" Novek laughed, "Xenex. Do you really expect me to believe that was an acident?"
"Yes! You know me, I'd never hurt them. I wouldn't be able to live with myself then."
"LIES! You were a bloody demon then and now! I'm going to avenge them!" Novek charged in and slashed at Xenex's head. He was quickly parried ans they both began slashing and parrying each other at a rapid pace. Each move was flawlessly made and yet neither could land a blow. It's like fighting... "A mirror, right Xenex? Well it should be. We both trained under father and we use nearly the same techniques. Including this." Novek vanished and Xenex was suddenly blocking a slash at his hip. The two began slashing at each once more at an even faster rate. Sparks from their colliding blades began to light up the night sky. Gusts of wind were forming from the impact of these evenly matched warriors. Finally the both flew back from each other. Both were panting from exhaustion. "You...won't...win...Xenex...I...I...I will destroy you!" Novek vanished and appeared from below with a slash which Xenex easily parried. Xenex aimed a kick at Novek's head but his foot was grabbed. "Got you!" Novek began to fly straight down as fast as he could, dragging Xenex behind. Suddenly Novek began to spin Xenex around him before throwing him directly at the ground. Xenex landed on his back and made a large crater on impact. As the smoke cleared Xenex was standing, apparently unharned. "I see words are useless brother. Then fine, I'll just beat the truth into you." Xenex vanished and before Novek could react he was kneed in the gut. As Novek coughed up blood he was bombarded with a flurry of punches. Novek couldn't even react. He was just getting pounded without any mercy. Xenex kicked him down and as Novek went to the ground, Xenex appeared and stomped him in creating a crater with his brothers body. Xenex lifted up Novek and began to punch him again. Finally Xenex hit Novek so hard he went flying and skidded on the ground. When Novek stopped moving he struggled to stand but was suddenly pinned down with a sword to his throat. "Don't force me to put your blood on my hands brother." There were tears building in his eyes. Novek began to laugh, "Ha...ha...ha. "After all this time...I...I still can't...can't beat you, brother. Quit your whining." Xenex got off him and put his sword away. "Aren't you going to kill me Xenex?" He shook his head. "I can't. You're my brother." Novek stood up. "You know I won't stop until I avenge them right?" Xenex turned to face him. "What if I can ressurect them?" Novek's eye's widened in shock. "Impossible."
"Well I've found a way...to bring everyone back."
    -------------------------------------
Byron was getting impatient. "Why isn't that Death demon dead yet?" Kyle and Mary exvhanged a quick nod and both punched Byron in the back of his head, knocking him out. As the other three came, Novek appeared in front of them. "No. Just grab him and let's go." Jet looked like he was going to say something but then was silenced by a look from him. Jet went and grabbed Byron before they all vanished is a white light. Xenex slowly walked up to them. Kyle and Mary both ran out to him. "You ok?" Xenex smiled, "I'll be alright." Kyle looked at him sternly. "What exactly was he talking about by 'avenging them'? In fact, I need to know. Everything." Mary looked at him, "Kyle! Isn't that a little rude?" Kyle contined to stare at Xenex, "Rude or not, I need to know. I'm not going to let things from your past risk my life anymore without me knowing. Either you talk or you leave."
"Kyle!" Xenex interuppted her, "No, he's right Mary. I've been putting him at risk and he doesn't even know why. He deserves to know." Xenex looked at Mary and then back at Kyle.
"My name is Xenex Coros. I recieved the title of Death Demon because on a night like this, around two hundred years ago, I killed every Lunar and Solar Everto there was."

Chapter Ten: The Story Of My Life Begins...

The three were sitting around the table. Xenex was looking down while Mary and Kyle watched him. "Where to start? Umm..... well I guess for it to make sense I should start with my childhood. Everything started there... I was born shortly before the First Great War with my brother, Novek. Other then the eyes and hair we looked exactly alike. I had two older sisters named Sela and Seleen. They both looked exactly alike with deep blue eyes and midnight blue hair that flowed down their backs. The only way we could tell them apart is from a scar Sela got below her eyes about a year before I was born. My father was leader of the Lunar Clan. My first few years are a blur because I was too young to remember them. After the first grest war, the Lunar and Solar Clans both realized the potential of a unity between them. So for both political and mutual benifit, or clans became one known as the Heavens Clan. Things started about two years after the union...."
    -------------------------------------
"Now put all your strength into your swing and aim for the same place boys."
"Yes, father." ,answered two voices in unison. Two boys were swinging wooden swords at a practice dummy. One child had shaggy black hair and pure black eyes. There other had spiked red hair and red eyes. They both swung their wooden swords and one of the training dummy's broke in half. A large man with spiked black hair and blood red eyes walked over to it. "Very good Novek. That's the third one this week." As the father looked down and stuck his tongue out at the other boy. He turned back as the father stood up and walked over to his other son's training dummy. "You have the same problem Sela had, you hit the same spot perfectly but you don't put enough power into your swings. Have you been keeping up with all your strength exercises?" The boy quickly nodded. "Xenex, you know I don't like it when you lie."
"But I really have! I just haven't been using as much weight cause it hurts my arms to do as much as you said." The father smiled, "That means its working son. Don't take the easy way anymore. It doesn't get you anywhere in life." The man stood up and looked at his sons. "Alright, we're done for the day. You can go have fun." The boys smiled and ran out the door. The father chuckled as he turned to the dummies.

"I did it again! And you still haven't!" Novek taunted. "Yeah well at least I hit the same spot like he says! You hit everywhere!" Xenex countered. He hated this, everytime father praised Novek or scolded him his brother would act like he was the best. "Why hit the same spot? If you hit all over then you win faster."
"No!" "Yeah!" "No!" Yeah!" This continued for another five minutes until someone walked up behind them. "Hey'a squirts! What'cha arguin' about now?" The two turned to see their sister Sela standing over them. The silver buttons on her jacket put a glare on their eyes. "Nothin'." Novek said smiling. "Anyways sis, I gotta go. A friend of mine got a cool new hoverboard and he said we could try it. Later!" Novek took off in a rush and Sela knelt down to Xenex's hieght. "He pickin' on you again?" Xenex looked down, "No." Sela put her hand on his shoulder. "Xenex, if he's messin' with you then you should tell us. Me, Seleen, mom and dad would all make sure he stops bothering you." Xenex looked up, "He wasn't bothering me. He was bragging about how he broke another dummy today."
"Again? Isn't that the third time this week?" Xenex sighed, "Yeah. Father says I need to get stronger. I hit the same spot but I still don't break it." Sela smiled, "Yeah I used to have that problem to. Been cuttin' back on the wieghts?" Xenex nodded, "Yeah. How'd you fix it and get stronger?" Sela turned Xenex's face to look at hers. "I listened to dad and did what he said. Broke it on my very next try. Now you quit worryin' about that and go have some fun. I hear your girlfriend is lookin' for ya." Xenex stepped back, "She's not my girlfriend!" Sela chuckled, "Well either way, she's lookin' for ya. And its rude to keep a lady waiting so you'd best hurry." Xenex ran off as Sela smiled to herself and continued walking.

    Chapter Eleven: Attack

"Hurry up Xenex!" The young boy rushed up to a girl with blond hair that went to behind her knees. Her golden eyes seemed to sparkle. "What is it Mary?" Little Mary smiled, "Well remember how I said something important was coming?" Xenex nodded. "Well... it's here!" Xenex begwn to show as much enthusiasm as Mary was. "Really?"
"Well, tomorrow really. But we can go watch them practice and set up everything. And my parents already got tickets for tomorrow so we can go."
"Then lets go!" The two rushed off with huge grins on their faces.
    -------------------------------------
"And then this one guy started doing all these tricks with fire while another was doing stuff with lightning!" Xenex was estatic and telling his family about the stuff he saw. They were eating dinner. The sisters were talking about something on their own while the mother was quietly eating with a smile on her face. The father was listening to his son ramble on as Novek silently just picked at his food. "It was really cool! I want to go again." The father smiled, "Sounds like fun. But sadly we can't go right now. Theres some very important things coming up that I have to take care of. And your mother will be busy with her classes so we won't be able to take you. I'm sorry Xenex but you'll have to wait for the next time." Xenex frowned but understood, so he quickly went back to his dinner. The father then turned to Novek. "So what did you do today?" He continued silently picking at his food until he spoke. "Nothing."
"Oh? You must have done something." Novek turned his head, "I didn't do anything dad." The mother looked up and spoke in a gentle voice. "His friends are upset with him." The father turned to her while Novek looked down. "Why?" She looked at Novek for a moment before speaking. "Well one of his friends recieved an expense new toy for their birthday and they were taking turns playing with it. When it was Noveks turn he did something and it broke." Novek cut in quickly, "It wasn't my fault! We were all having fun with his new hoverboard. On my turn I went for a really cool trick but a guy came rushing through and I crashed into him. I didn't mean to. Honest." The father gave his son a gentle but stern look. "Did you apologise?"
"Yeah but they still yelled at me. Now they won't let me play with them." The father silently ate a little while Novek just stared at his food. "Let them get over it and then go back and play with them. As long as you're sorry and it was an acident then they won't be mad forever." The family finished the rest of the meal in silence. As everybody finished, the father got up and began to walk away. The mother looked at him for a moment, "Going so soon honey?" He turned back with a serious look on his face. "I already spoke with you about this. You know how important this meeting is." She smiled a bit, "Oh yes, I forgot. Well good luck then. We all love you." He smiled and left while she began to gather the plates. The sisters both got up simultaneously. "Night mom." they said in unison. Novek got up and said his goodnights next. Xenex got up to help his mother. "Mom, what's father going to do at this meeting?" She smiled at him, "His usual routine. He'll speak about what needs to be done and such and do his best to keep everyone happy."
"But why did you say good luck then? You only say that when he goes and does dangerous things." She looked shocked for moment, "Really? Do I really only say it on the dangerous ones? I never noticed that." She went back to what she was doing. "Mom. You didn't tell me why you said good luck. Do you think he might get hurt?" She remained silent as she cleaned the plates. "Mom?" She stayed silent. "Mom? Are you worried about father?"
"You father will be fine Xenex. Please go to bed."
    -------------------------------------
Everyone was sleeping peacefully. The entire clan seemed to be sleeping. There wasn't a sound to be heard, even the bugs were quiet. There was a flash in the sky, followed by a small silver dot falling down. It looked like a shooting star. Suddenly there was an explosion as the dot touched the city ground. Xenex and Novek awoke with a start. Before they could even wonder thier sister Seleen came into the room looking worried. "Quick! Come on, let's go!" The boys rushed to follow thier sister. They were quickly joined by Sela and thier mother. Sela tossed a staff over to Seleen. It was pure black metal with a large blue gem at the top. Sela was also holding her claymore. It was pure black with blue spikes surrounding the top. Sela also handed a sword to both Xenex and Novek. "Follow mom and don't stop. Understand?" The two boys nodded and they followed thier mother out the building. The sisters went out a side door. "Dad warned us this might happen. No wonder mom was so worried."
"Sela, do you think they'll be ok?"
"Of course Seleen. Mom's taking them to the safe house until this is all over. But you should concentrate more on the fight we're about to go to." The two rushed on as flames from the explosion continued to spread.

    Chapter Twelve: When Everything Changed

Fire was spreading through the city. As more buildings collapsed under thier own pressure, Xenex, Novek andbthier mother ran through the back allies towards a safe area. "Mom! What's going on?"
"Now's not the time Novek, just keep running!" Novek quietly obeyed and continued running. Soon the came upon the main street. "The temple is just up the street. Boys! I want you to keep running no matter what! Understand? No matter what." The boys nodded and the three of them began to run up the street. Suddenly a large man in all white jumped out. "Not do fast! Your his wife right? The wife of the Lunar clans' leader? And his sons too. I musta hit the jackpot!" The mother stood between the man and her children. "You won't lay a finger on them!" The man laughed. "Pretty bold claim for someone so fragile." He quickly rushed forward and hut hit her. She was slammed against the wall and fell unconcious. There was a small bit of blood coming ftom her head. "Mom!" both boys screamed in unison. The man threw a punch at the kids. Both jumped back. "Xenex we've got to run! Mom told us to run no matter what." Novek turned, ready to run. "No." Novek turned to his brother. "What do you ,ean no? Mom said run so I'm gonna run!" He turned again but this time Xenex grabbed him. "No. I'm gonna get Mom and take her with us!" He unsheathed the sword his sister gane him and rushed the man. "Oh this should be fun." He threw out a punch as soon as Xenex came near. The boy quickly dodged and slashed but to now avail as it was blocked by body armor. The man laughed as he kicked the boy back. Xenex quickly got up again and charged, but this time he wasn't alone. Novek had unsheathed his sword and charged in with his brother. The man tried to punch them but missed as both spun around him and swung at his back. Again his armor protected him from harm and he kicked back causing the boys to jump away. Xenex then charged in from the mans left as Novek charged his right. The man simply waited and spun fast with his fists raised, hitting both the boys down. "You were obviously trained by your father, you look and fight just like him. But your nowhere near as dangerous. I wouldn't be afriad of you even if your pop was here to stop me." The two boys struggled to thier feet. "Still gonna fight? Fine then, I'll just kill ya." The boys charged but instead of swinging thier swords each raised thier hand and began chanting. Suddenly lightning fired from thier hands and struck the man. He screamed in pain and be fore he could react, both boys pierce right through the softend metal, striking his heart on both sides. Novek collapsed on the spot, exhausted from using the spell. Xenex stood a little longer before blacking out himself.
    "Xenex!"
    -------------------------------------
Xenex woke with a start. He looked around to notice that he was in his room. His brother wasn't there and his father was sitting at the foot of his bed. "Father?" The father quickly looked to his son and hugged him. "Xenex... I was so worried."
    "Where's Novek?"
    "He's outside with your sisters."
"Where's mom?" The father pulled back. He looked at his son with a sorrowful look. "Xenex... I... I'm afraid... she... she didn't make it. I'm sorry. I showed up too late to save her. She died." Xenex didn't show any sign, or emotion but just stared down. "I showed up just I saw you and your brother kill the man who hurt her. This whole attack had been planned, the conference I went to was meant to lure our strongest away. Those people had never wanted peace but rather they wanted to destroy us. Xenex... I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Xenex remained silent. "Please... say something." He stayed silent. The father sighed and stood up. "I'm...I'm very proud of you and you're brother. You handled yourselves well. I'll bring a lunch for you later." He left as Xenex stayed silent, still trying to accept the fact that he failed to save her like he tried.

Chapter Thirteen: A Prophecy For The Twins

It had been two weeks since the attack on the Lunar clan. It was discovered that the attack was orchestrated by some warriors that resented the clans involvement in the First Great War. Already rumors had spead concerning Xenex and Novek and how they had managed to kill a soldier. By the Lunar clans warrior traditions they were men by killing thier first foe, but by the clans standards for children they were little monsters for even holding a sword. Thier father held even more blame because it was his actions in the war that directly caused the attack. Some of the clan members began to lose faith in the leading family. Others believed that it couldn't be avoided. Either way, the twins didn't care. Novek tried to play with his normal friends but thier parents dragged thier children away, saying not to play with the little monster. Xenex was worse. After finally waking up he had remained secluded in his room, not speaking, not eating, nothing. When he finnaly came out barely anybody believed it was him. People knew Xenex as a cheerful and kind boy that loved to share happiness with whoever he saw. Now Xenex was distant and emotionless as if he was merely living because he was forced to. Xenex applied himself to his training, and soon he mastered everything his father taught him. Magic, swordsmanship, anything, he mastered it all. He was smarter and stronger then most in the clan and in a simple training match with his father, he won. Yet nothing changed. He still stayed emotionless and withdrawn and whenever he wasn't training he was in his room, staring at the ceiling. His sisters tried to cheer him up, but they couldn't even make him acknowledge thier presence. His father tried on several occasions but each time Xenex merely told him to go away. Novek seemed to be the only person he would talk to and even then it was nothing more than a few sentences before Xenex would just go back to staring at the ceiling. Novek had tried to train but suddenly his skill was gone and he couldn't even scratch wood with a sword. He tried to make new friends but kept meeting the same reaction from the childrens parents. He began to hate everyone. The clan because they called him monsters, his sisters for giving him the sword that caused his problems. His father for causing the attack. The twins only found solice in each other and tried to avoid everything else as much as possible.

"It's my fault. My boys hate the world all becsuse of me."
"No. Your actions may have been a part of it but it was not your fault." The father was speaking with two old women. Each was blind and each one seemed older then time itself. "Please bring your sons before us." One said. The other nodded, "We have had a vision concerning them and the future of the clan." The father simply nodded and left.
    -------------------------------------
An hour later and the two boys were sitting in front of the women. "Elders. I brought my sons like you asked."
"Xenex." One said. "Novek." said the other. Suddenly thier eyes glowed and they spoke in unison.
"Though born together, they mustn't share.
The rule of the clan, only one may claim.
One will harm it, then will save it.
One will leave it, then return to it.
Neither can lead while the other is here.
    Brother will kill brother.
The victor will lead in peace forevermore."
The glow left the elders eyes and both boys looked at them in confusion and shock. "What is the meaning of this?! Brother kill brother? Harm and leave the clan? Explain your prophecy elders!" The father seemed to be holding himself back from exploding in rage. "Exactly as said. One of these two will harm the clan, then save it from such harm." One said. "The other will leave for reasons unknown but return to the home in which they belong." Said the other. "One will kill the other then lead the clan to an everlasting peace." One said. "Think back on all our predictions. Have we ever been wrong?" Said the other. The father looked down at his sons. Both was looking at the other in fear.
