Plot - I felt the storys plot was thought provoking and yet worrying, it fits perfectly into the genre I am interested in and mixes it with enough violence and comedy to make you think about how students live out there everyday lives. It feels real as being the age of the characters I know this is what happens to alot of boys, but not to this extent obviously.

    8/10

Acting - The acting was almost perfect, the casting did a great job picking the cast and placing in parts that fit. I was slightly dissapointed with Takayuki Yamada as Tamao Serizawa, I felt it could have gone to a better more malicious actor such as Masanobu Ando who I thought could have played the part with a more sadistic nature.

    8/10

Visual Effects - Where there any? There was one seen where a giant bowling ball was kicked which seemed out of place but extremely well done and made me laugh hysterically. The masses of fake blood it seemed rather natural. If there were any they must have been extremely well done. The camera angles cought every moment perfectly, if the moment was emotive then there was a camera angle or scene that fit with it extremely well.

    10/10

Audio - Apart from the lack of understanding as the movie is in Japanese it seemed fine, the strikes were caught well and the few gunshots were also realistic.

    9/10

Overall - The movie is my style so you may find the movie not to your tastes and feel I have been slightly biased. I try not to be but I havn't enjoyed a movie like this since Battle Royale. I have not read the manga which is entitled "Crows" so I cannot compare.

    8.75/10

    I excitingly await the sequel.

Oh wow, Takashi Miike directed this?
It's gotta be good then =]
I've seen Audition and Ichi the Killer (Miike's work), found them quite enjoyable (entertainment wise).
Looking forward for your review here, Pulse.
