    Earth...

    Fire...

    Air...

    Water...

    Which will prevail?

A figure stood in silent solitude upon the top of a steep-rising slope of bedrock. Their presence along such an unbeaten path was made all the stranger by the fact that not an inch of their bare body was visible through their chosen attire. In fact it seemed they had deliberately taken the necessary steps to avoid having any amount of their figure determined by onlookers; long sleeves adorned them at both torso and legs in the form of a well-worn gi, a cloak hung over their shoulders covering any exposed places with a lingering certainty. Thin soled moccasins shielded the feet, and the neck and head were both wrapped in scarves and shawls despite the heat beating down upon the person. Their hands were masked as well, though by gloves of tough stone rather than silks. Even their eyes were veiled slightly be a thin cloth made to obscure their appearance from the outside. Yet impressively, this had all been adapted to the person snug enough to prevent it from being an obstruction.

Looking down from their perch, the figure scanned back and forth along the banks of a gentle river in the maw below. No signs of life, save for the occasional leap of a fish from water, were evident in the scene. It would appear I'm the only one here just now, they thought expectantly. They glared further down the river, towards a lonely looking village in the distance; no commotion to indicate another approaching from there. They looked upstream towards a forest set afar, wherein the river flowed from a lake in mountains further off; still no evidence of coming company. I could be here a while, they mused.*

It was not by mere coincidence that this figure stood upon the rocky slope at that moment in time. Nor was it any sort of people they were awaiting to arrive on the scene. There had been an arrangement amongst the four great nations of the world, to pit their greatest champions against one another in a friendly, though difficult battle. It was a simple game really, but the hype of all of the nations fighting in a friendly manner was something completely different; certainly, which ever nation's champion took the victory from the battlefield that day would have a lot to brag about. The lone figure would soon be pitted against a powerful master of fire-bending from the Fire Nation, a graceful master of water-bending from one of the Water Tribes, and a swift master of air-bending from one of the long since rejuvenated Air Clans.*

As for the lone figure, they were the master of earth-bending pulled from the Earth Kingdom, and a strangely silent and reserved one at that, so much so that even their own people didn't know the full extent of their identity. All anyone in the Earth Kingdom knew was that Ugokasu Omoyama was their champion, and that they would be a tough stone to break in battle. Now all there was to be seen was whether such a stone could weather such a storm as the one ahead of it.

((As everything points to, this will be a four way battle between elemental users of air, earth, fire, and water, engaged in the vein of The Last Airbender. I've tried to orchestrate an all-around fair environment for all four elements to battle in.*

I will hope that anyone who reads this through will have been familiar with the series and finished it through. If you haven't, I'll warn you that I'm about to spoil some things for you, so read at your own discretion.*

    - This battle is set in a post series Avatar world. I've included air-benders on the assumption that Aang's energy bending (used to strip Ozai of his fire-bending) could work to the opposite effect, and give someone bending abilities, this enabling him to have 'created' new Air nomad clans.*

    - Chi blocking will be an all or none deal. Either all of us can use it, or none of us can. I'd prefer the latter, since the series portrays it as a particularly rare skill.*

    - It should go without saying, but please, NO PLAYING AS THE/AN AVATAR. Remember, you only have one element, but you are a master of that element within the Last Airbender world, so you've got a lot to work with.*

    - You will require no character sheets. Just be sure to give your character a good intro post, being clear in what nation they represent.*

    - Minimal weaponry. A staff, a spear, or a sword of some sort is permitted. But let's stick mostly to the bending.*

    - I apologize, but if your name is 'Desert Warrior,' 'Sho Minamimoto,' or 'DarkAngel,' please refrain from joining this as I'm still technically battling all of you already and wish to see myself against different people)).*

    Steady, swiftly drift
    Flowing down the errant stream
    Awaiting a fight.

A figure sat - no, not sat. Reclined would be more appropriate - on a peculiar longboat coated in ice and furs, built so that its rider would be quite comfortable with the journey. Which, in fact, the figure was. It was apparent to all that this was a member of the Water Tribe, from the ice and garb. It was like she wasn't even trying to hide who she was - which she wasn't. In fact, she wasn't trying to do much of anything, besides reach her destination and write poetry. A fair amount of scrolls were in the boat and burying a bo staff, some still unmarked, but most crumpled up and scribbled upon. Their possessor was apparently hard at work writing.

All the usual signs were there. Comfortable, flowing leggings a soft shade of blue. A form-fitting shirt, covered by a furred coat usually, but said coat just sat on top of the mound of ice to be used as a pillow. A necklace - perhaps from a suitor, perhaps from her husband - with an insignia of the moon dangled snugly around her neck. Her dark brown hair was tied back into a strange hybrid between a bun and a ponytail, with bun leading off of the back of her head, narrowing, then exploding into a wide fan of hair. Sandals dangled off of the woman's feet lightly as she reclined, her knees making a makeshift worktable for her writing.

Marama Chau, beloved poet of the North and resident champion of the Water Tribe, crumpled up yet another piece of paper, unconcernedly tossing it onto the pile. And that's when she sat up.

"Oh. Here already, huh?" She mumbled, sitting up and looking around. Pulling her staff free from its 'trap' of paper, she used it to steer her boat over to the shore, carefully trapping it with ice so it didn't flow away, then walked closer to the center of the plain.

    Carefree attitude
    Burying the enemies
    To claim pride and fame

She really wished she had a paper to write that on and crumple it up.

A girl in her late teens, probably about the age of 18 sat up in the air looking down in a valley. Her eyes were closed shut as she felt the gentle breeze. She exhaled before standing up to reveal she was standing up on a cloudily gently blowing in the air. She was an air bender, she was a descendant of one of the 10 people Avatar Aang gave the bending skill to.

The girl jumped up off the cloud as her staff turned into a glider and quickly and elegantly she descended landing on a mountain cliff. She walked towards a cave in the mountain side. She walked in and smiled as a giant bison and a lemur were seen sleeping there.

The lemur was the first to awaken causing the girl to smile and kneel down.

"Good morning, Emi. I see Haru is still being lazy this morning." The girl smiled. She walked over to where a pile of ash from a previous fire resided and a rolled out mat with supplies. She landed down on the mat sitting there sighing.

Sora Kaoru, daughter of the northern clan councilman. She was trained in the skill of air bending since she could first create a gust of wind and has since then prevailed to one of the best at her age. She's suppose to take over her father's position, however Sora has much of a rebellious personality, so the monks called it. Sora was just always curious in the world, and about the age of 14 she'd run away from home, getting as far away as the local water tribe. Only to be returned home.

The air nomads nation due to their peace keeping didn't want to par take in this battle of mastery where a master of all the different bending nations gathered in one spot to see who would rise in victory. The air bending nation didn't believe in violence, even after Avatar Aang and now the rejuvenated nation, they didn't wish to cross path with any bending nation.

Sora obviously disagreed. The girl set to be married, the girl set to eventually become a council woman, and a girl punished and forbidden from ever leaving the temple and village set up on the icy mountain in the southern water tribe, didn't care about those facts. She cared about showing the world the air bending nation, she also was curious about what other nations had to reveal.

Sora walked out of the small cave wearing brown tights and shoes. She had on an orange dress, a brown belt along around her waist containing several pouches hung from it. Her forehead was not completely shaved like other woman of her tribe, but the blue arrow could be seen some. She had her dark brown hair pulled back as an orange cloak.

She looked off into the distance where the battle would be taking place, still not fully aware of what she was getting herself into.

    Which will prevail?

As bright as the burning light, as fiery as his compassion for justice and power, a young man in his mid 20's with his staff in hand stood on top of a pillar with lanterns glowing around the area to signify his presence on the field. He smiled at the Earthbender as he lifted up a copy of a document that signifies the same treaty that signifies the declaration of allowing the Fire Nation to form within the Earth Kingdom which has ended up creating a fifth nation known as the United Republic of Nations and allowing all four elements to live and thrive there in harmony.

"Fire Nation Representative of the Republic City Council, Uwr. Fire isn't the only way to victory." he lifted up his staff as the flames from the lantern started to grow bigger and started to send out sparks. He continue to spin his staff as he started to perform a rite. "Let the secrets of fire purge this land and purify it." The man continues to perform the rite until he shows that he is performing the Dancing Dragon. Circling around on the pillar, he sent forth two large flames up towards the sky, one yellow and the other one blue. There, he shape the two to come in the forms of dragons. One blew fire up towards the sky while the other blew fire towards the ground.

"Now let us consume the energy of this land." The man with his robes trimmed in gold, red and blue lining started to float in the air.

Hours seemed to elapse, with Ugokasu Omoyama standing like a statue over the river valley; no visible move was made by them, nor did any audible sound issue from their muffled mouth.

But this stillness and silence masked the subtle movements of strategic preparation for the battle ahead. Small, unnoticeable movements at the feet manifested as a wriggling of toes against the hard ground they stood on. Through the thick-soled shoes, the chi of a master Earth-bender was hard at work. With each massaging stroke against the rocky slope, the chi pulsed through, leaving what were at the time, miniscule cracks, that were invisible to the naked eye. These cracks raced across the sensitive areas along the slope. At that point, they were insignificant; but before too long, the small cracks would contribute the instability of the slope.

It was near the end of this process that Omoyama spotted another figure making its way towards the battlefield by way of the river. As they drew closer, the Earth-bender could see clearly that it was a girl, and a younger looking one at that. But it wasn’t enough to create any opinions; the fact of the matter stood that if they were there for the battle, then they were master benders of their born element, and age meant only a little, behind hard work and dedication. A few minutes passed, and the person was at the riverbank in front of the Omoyama. It became clear that the one in the river was the representative of the Water Tribes.

    One.

Then, Omoyama’s gaze caught another arrival on the opposite side of the river. They were clad in red robes, no doubt the representative from the Fire Nation. They brandished both a staff, and a written document, though the latter was too far off to view in its entirety. The assumption of this person’s origin was proven by his display. A brilliant flaring of fiery light exploded from him, weaving into the form of two dragons, both of which breathed fire out into the air and to the ground. Indeed, it was a good display of power, and more than likely left little expenditure of chi. Regardless, it was still a waste to have scorched the land without at least trying to take aim at an opponent.

    That’s two; three in total.

Omoyama looked back and forth down the river once more. There was still no sign of the fourth competitor, the champion of the Air Nomads. But there was no time to wait around any longer. They would arrive when they pleased, and could immerse in the challenge when they did. Poised like a surfer their board, Omoyama slid down the slope towards the river, coming to a stop at the first stride onto level ground. The Earth-bender then threw glares at the other two, beckoning with hand gestures for them to come forth in battle.

    Water's endless flow
    Erodes the mightiest stones
    Given the right path.

Marama's efforts to write poetry at any given moment had become second nature long ago. Unfortunately for her, it was also distracting at any given moment. The tribeswoman pondered this as she began weaving water from the river around her, feeding it to the the immediate area's topsoil in order to make mud. Curious thing was, once she had sufficiently mixed the earth and water, she froze it with a smooth spin that brought her low to the ground. Even more curious, she splashed a thin layer of water on top of that, generating a very light and faint mist that hovered just above the ground. Though the second part was far less curious, given that she needed the water in order to fight back. But such a small amount?

    One carved out of stone
    The other, a complete show-off
    Where is the final?

Marama thoughts systematically arranged themselves in a syllabic pattern as she observed the entrance of the Firebender from afar, and the Earthbender soon after. The invitation to fight was just too silly, what with glares and hand gestures from her earthbound opponent. Instead of taking him up on his offer immediately, she slowly pulled a large blob from the river, making it flow around her like a koi fish in a pond.

    An invitation
Does not always need to be
    Accepted quickly

She turned back seeing her air bison and lemur coming out.

"I want you two staying here. I'd rather you guys only put yourselves at risk if it's to help me out or to return home." She instructed carefully before turning and looking in the distance.

"Be safe." She told them as she ran and leapt off the cliff, her staff turning into a glider as she flowed through the air on the wind. She passed through several clouds before slowing herself down. Getting closer she grew interested in what she saw.

She first took note of a young man in there 20's maybe 5 to 10 years older than herself sporting red robes.

    "The fire nation..."

Next she took note of a drifting ice boat gently floating down the river. An older woman(to her standards) was within the boat appearing to be writing in a book of some sort.

    "Water Nation..."

When she looked up past the cloud clear at another cliff she forced herself to land on a different cliff to observe him. He was much older and appeared to be filled with much battle experience.

    "Earth..."

She stood up on the cliff hopefully hidden away the best she could from the view of those other nations. She could feel the sweat building in her gloves gripping her staff as well as the trembling throughout her body. She was nervous, beyond nervous. This could become one intense battle, one she was never properly trained for.

She shook her head though and her grip on her staff tighten. She had one purpose.

She, Sora Kaoru, was going to show the world the air benders and show them they didn't just hide up on mountain tops being anti social, plus she was going to prove her worth to the air benders she ran away from as well. She could not fail, she would not fail.

This battle served a purpose and she would succeed at that purpose, it was one thing she would seem to have over the other duelers there.

The man smiled as he immediately bowed. Uwr did a prayer privately to himself but as he saw that the woman from the water nation did not bother to come, he just laugh as he finally touched the ground. "I guess that I might as well be laid-back too. Still no sign of the air bender either. He clapped his hands as he made a small flame burst in front of him some Chai tea. " Well, no use trying trying to spend my energy. I'll take a break." As he took a sip, he immediately started to conjure up a small flame in a shape of a note and blew it toward the lady in the boat. As it gently flew across to her, what was written on there says:

"Don't float too slow tea bag." The note then blew up in Marama Chau's face, shaking her boat in the process. "Well, this is an interesting competition. Well Mr. Earth Man. You give the first blow since you are the first to fight. Let the other join in whenever they wish." Uwr chuckled as he continue to drink tea as he sat down, relaxing as he had steam come out of his ears in a slow manner. As he became more focus, he looked up toward the sky as he realize a small presence of the Air bender. "Air Bender person. The clouds and sky may not protect you. You may end up having a shocking experience." As he finish his tea, he gave a sigh and release nothing but smoke, surrounding not only himself but also showing that he is now going to make the whole area become foggy to make it harder to fight or see for the others. As he kept on breathing out the smoke from his mouth, he was nearly invisible within the fog, making it expand.

For several seconds, Omoyama remained stationary, rooted in a combative position. The expectation for one opponent or the other to lash out was deeply rooted in the mind of the Earth-Bender, and the chi that would soon move boulders was at work, ready to make even the slightest shift in he ground beneath the warrior's vigilant feet.*

But, naturally, to have expected the battle to come up front was too much for a warrior to ask. The Water-Bender spared the moment to siphon her weapon of choice from the river's bounty. Water-Benders are a clever bunch, Omoyama thought.

Looking to the sky, the visage of a fourth presence finally reared upon the horizon. Omoyama face a nod, acknowledging the flying individual as the emissary of the Air Nomads. Good. We're all here, finally. Now we can get started for real. Air-Benders will always be full of tricks to us..

By then, the Fire-Bender had moved into action, and the battlefield was cloaked in a thin fog of smoke. As are Fire-Benders... And they're an aggressive lot as well. To tread lightly would behoove me.*

The young champion of the Earth Kingdom was hindered little by the smokescreen employed by Uwr; the thin-soled Earth-Bender shoes made certain that no vibration against the ground would be left astray from the ever-feeling feet. The thoughts of a next move cycled through Omoyama's head. The Fire-Bender Brings about smoke to move in stealth. The Water-Bender uses water as a shield, or to counter attack. The Air-Bender will see all of what happens from above... A good defense is the best offense. With three threats lurking *in a veil of smoke, Omoyama opted for a lay-in-wait method. The rocky surface of the river bank itched to move, and could have been erected into a shield at any moment. But Omoyama waited, to see what the others would do.

Marama, who had successfully coated a large portion of the nearby riverbank with ice by this point, had long since left her boat, so the note fluttered to her craft, unnoticed. What did grab the bender's attention was the cloud of smoke coming in from the Fire representative. A quick lyric was composed, and then mentally scrapped for its inelegance, and she wheeled in a large torrent from the river, turning it into a barrier. One forward motion of her palm met with this wall of water, and a wave of icy needles shot forth into the smoke.

Sora looked down as the fire bender quickly went into battle. She watched with interest quickly catching onto who he was spiritually. Simple as she could tell her was pretty impatient and wanted nothing but to battle. He was fierce at his battling. She crossed her arms nodding slowly. She looked towards the Earth bender watching below as well.

She smiled and could tell the Earth bender was wise doing pretty similar to what she was doing, just sitting and waiting. Which works allow for the others to waste their energy. She nodded before glancing down to the water bender.

The water bender appeared as if they were unamused by the fire bender. They seemed so composed and appeared they were just going on a simple walk in the park.

"Water is always able to put out fire." She shrugged to herself before sitting down on to the ground. She crossed her arms.

"Earth could put both water and fire to silence." She spoke softly as she rested her hands on her knees.

"I wonder what my air would do for the others." Sora thought aloud to herself before shrugging and closing her eyes to meditate and wait till she'd have to move.

Uwr continue to have the fog expand across the area. However, he was not sitting in his position at all. He looked towards the Water Bender and breathed out more smoke, having the fog to go towards her. "Such a peaceful lot. I wonder if this is a contest to see who will be the most calm." Uwr continue to have the fog expand toward the Water and Earth-Bender. As he sat down to make the next batch of tea, he used his flames to make the tea burn faster and went right back to breathing smoke. He then made the decision to walk back to where he first stood, making the fog thicker and expand much more.

Despite his best efforts, the fire-bender, Uwr, was creating his smokescreen in vein. Yes, the veil of vile smoke was an irritation to the lungs of Omoyama. And it was true that the eyes of he Earth-bender were unable to view said adversary in any manner. But the eyesight meant little, and the lungs of the warrior were strong enough to weather the veil for a bit longer. And at the end of it all, the Fire-Bender had been wasting energy since he had arrived, using his bending for either superfluous useless tasks.

But why useless? While Omoyama was unable to to see Uwr, he was still in perfect view. The pads of the Earth-bender's feet tuned perfectly into the ground beneath them. Even through the screen that booked him, Uwr's movements were tracked perfectly back and forth across the river banks. Omoyama followed him, shifting as he ran around towards the river, and as he stopped arrogantly for tea. As devious and tricky as they are, fire-benders remain prideful and arrogant. A downfall on any level.

At last, the Earth-bender had traced Uwr's movements back to his initial spot on the banks, from where his smoke had originated. Time. The battle had taken too long to start already. Omoyama, even with so much patience, decided that it was boring and pointless to wait much longer. The fire-bender, being easily the least attentive and most arrogant, was the prime target. Earth-bending chi struck through the ground. A few feet in front of the fire-bender, the rock moved with lightning speed, punching out an angled arm into the estimated area around his stomach.

    Rain Washes away
    Everything in the end.
    Unfortunately.

Marama's strategy just seemed to make absolutely nothing happen to the obnoxious bender who was obfuscating her view, so instead she took a more practical approach to the problem. Pooling water around herself, she raised it up and scattered it into a mist, letting her chi do all the work. The droplets hung in midair, just absorbing all the soot in the air coming from the firebender, and did a fine job of purifying the immediate area. Of course she couldn't extend her reach much beyond a few yards, but that would have to clear on its own. The Waterbender could not risk going out into the smoke unawares. It's not like she was one of those footsight earthbenders or anything.

Sora began to sneeze opening her eyes from the meditation she looked around the dark soot.

"Really?" she raised an eye brow before standing up and moving her arms creating a large gust of wind moving the soot in the air into a tornado of wind she made. She looked down below at the fire bender annoyed.

"Some of us are trying to conserve our energy you know!" She exclaimed down to him before moving the tornado at the fire bender catching him in the middle of it. She sighed.

"Finally..." she whispered before sitting back down to continue meditating.

"Ah. About time." The Fire Bender took his fist and start to punch at the rock made by Nor with flames coming out, breaking the rock into smaller pieces. As he looked back, he saw the tornado coming at him. He decided to just stand there and jump into the tornado, deciding to use his flames to make the tornado even hotter, making the air in the area hotter so that he can gain the moist and dry climate from his fog and flame. "At least this will have all of you to stop sitting." Uwr starts to use his lightning generation so that he can have the tornado to produce some electrical charges within itself. By the time he got done, he was able to have the Tornado spin around and around in the area as he made his way down toward the ground within the tornado. At the very end of it, he used his fire breath to push it and have it to spin out of control, letting it to go on a rampage at one of the three benders, having electricity rolling and the sky darker.

"Whew. Almost took my breath away." Still at peace of mind, he decides to just go back to the very beginning that he stood and sit right back down, wanting to see what the rest will do. "Time to dance now. That was some good tea." Uwr stood right back up, performing an unusual dance as he was relaxed.

And so too do the others move to battle. All around, Omoyama could see that the veil of smoke conjured by Uwr was being carefully chipped away. The water bender had soaked it into her supply. And soon after, the air bender had pushed it away with a fine gust of wind. The earth bender was the only one left without a means by which to undo the fire bending. While it made no difference to the sense of sight, the fumes would eventually take their toll, unless something was done. Smoke will rise with the air. So to go below would be preferred.

While the air bender's whirlwind and the fire benders lightning lashed out over the battlefield, Omoyama performed another feat of earth bending. A fine, circular crack formed around the bender, and from the other side of that crack, the earth pushed up forming a dome around the practitioner. The rocky shield, having been pulled from material underfoot, gave Omoyama an escape route. Dropping the circular plot like an elevator, the bender *lowered to the under ground. In their wake, they collapsed the dome of Earth, leaving the plot looking undisturbed.*

Now under ground, with two feet of Earth making the dividing line between the surface, Omoyama contemplated. Whether to go after the water-bender or air-bender, and come under attack by two foes, or to continue to work over the fire bender, and do away with him and allow the other two to battle each other. To wait things out might be a more proficient strategy.

    What manner of fool
    Jumps into a tornado?
    One with a deathwish.

Marama Chau was getting really tired of the Firebender's shenanigans, watching the new charade thanks to the tornado consuming the smoke. Instead of taking the freak of nature on, she opted for a better approach. The area was still icy from her inital gambit, so she gave herself a push and skidded straight towards the riverbanks, then dove in like an Olympic swimmer. Underneath, she knew she was safe from the tornado, but not from the lightning. So, she went to the riverbed and created an air pocket around herself, lining the edges with two feet of ice.

    They say good things come
to those who wait, but now I
    hope that they are right.

"I hate lighting," She spoke, grumbling in the muddy bottom.

Sora moved her hand regaining control of it. She forced the air out causing the flames to go out in all directions in the valley sure to have attacked and done harm to all the benders but to closer evaluation she realized the Earth bender disappeared and the water bender dove under water.. So damage would have been done to only the fire bender and water bender.

She stood up on top of the cliff looking down in the valley. The flames that shot out caught some of the plant life below to catch a blaze. She knew that wasn't good for it could start a potential forest fire. She jumped into the air a cloud of wind circulating around her body holding her afloat in the air. She moved her hands at the river as wind started attacking the water. Much like a water bender would bend the actual water to create a wave, Sora bend her air to force the water out of the river creating a tidal wave to put out as much of the flames as she could.

"Ah. This is interesting. Time for trial two." Uwr kept on dancing but he decided to shoot out lightning at the wave that the Air-Bender created so that she can put out the fire. By the time the lightning hit the waves, the lightning was traveling from the waves into the lake so that the Water Bender will not hide in it. "Liquid trembling in lightning. Will you still try to douse out the blazing power of the sun I wonder. Shocking isn't it?"

The Fire bender sat down and went back to drinking tea since all he wish for now is to enjoy the show. "Now where is that Earth Bender I wonder? Knowing him, he will probably come after me." He had his staff fly up in the air while he took out something to eat from his pocket. "Time to go on the defense now. Offense is a great defense." His staff was now the center of attraction, having his finger point up at the cloud once more as he starts to control his breathing. Once he had complete control over it, he directed the lightning up towards the sky, having the sky rumble and now posing a threat to the Air Bender. One thunder struck down on his staff and Uwr used the staff to create a electromagnetic shield around himself as he stood on top of the pillar that he first landed so that he can see the reaction of everyone else and observe them.

"Good game I say. To disturb the balance while I am in harmony myself." The Councilman relaxed and was enjoying his drink, regaining his energy quicker and was ready to close his eyes to please himself.
