    Combatants:
Malisa Jals (Alternate Future) - Requiem
    James Thoma - Desert Warrior

Battlefield: Desolation - A flat plane of parched earth, purged of all life. The skies are gray with dust and soot, and not a single sunbeam graces the land below. No remnants of prior life or civilization exist on this plane. There is nothing.

    Name: Malisa Jals (Future)

Age: her body is ageless, but technically she is 27

Appearance: Before her transformation: HawkZero's Malisa by ~imahappi on deviantART

With a chance encounter, her body has been turned into a masterpiece of artifice, housing three hearts inside that each contain massive amounts of magical power. It is a body that never requires sleep, never needs nourishment, that never stops. Her form is metallic and layered like a magnificent work of armor, replacing her skin below her neck. Her hands often have gloves on them, and she often wears a cloak to shroud her body as to stay unnoticed. Her head would be normal-looking as well, but her eyes are a little unreal, a little too glowing and reflective to truly show her humanity. Her blancge hair is kept in a short ponytail.

Bio: Malisa once travelled the stars in search of her brother, going from world to world, reality to reality, in search of him.

Her travels took her far and wide, using portals formed from her special brand of magic. One day, she was whisked away by an outside force to aid in the protection of the Omniverse and its chosen champions. She failed in her duty, allowing the champion of the worlds, Jaden, to get murdered.

Since Jaden died, Malisa had been trying to find her way back to that dimension. The echo of the calamity in there reached not just in that strand of reality, but corrupted and rotted each reality next to it, until the entire space of existence was beginning to collapse. After several years and many bids for power, she had found her way back with a plan.

After much hardship in the corrupted Dominion, Malisa stalked the group of remaining champion through her Dimensional portals into the weird sub-realm where a resurrected Jaden and Matthias (Bad guy) were fighting and tried to send Raine back. Again. But, some weird error goes wrong and the spell warped all reality for just and instant. Upon ejection/leave from the realm, She figured out that the spell caused the entire pocket dimension to go back in time. Jaden and Matthias finish their fight, with the future Jaden as the victor. He ruled all of reality from that point on. Past jaden lost his powers and married Raine, and it's all sunshine and buttercups. Or at least, for everybody EXCEPT this strange, anachronistic future Malisa.

Since then, she has been lost, without a purpose. She was trapped into existence, bound by a time loop that kept Future Jaden in place to rule reality. She had brought back a letter and tome of aid to her past self, but once that was accomplished, she didn't know what to do. Now, she travels the planes trying to figure out where she is to put her efforts.

Personality: It's a bit inexplicable at the moment.

Weapon: Keyblade: Forward Unto Dawn by ~PhoenixTrooper on deviantART Held in a reverse grip, in her less dominant hand, as her dominant hand is her primary weapon.

Powers: High Magik prowess. Currently, it seems like she's got unlimited mana.
Spell Circles: She nicked one of her brother's books before she left and has been studying it since she left. all Spell Circle abilities can be readied in their summoned shapes, but not actually be activated. See the original profile for more detail.
Spell Spheres: Malisa has honed her art so finally that she has finally breached the third dimension with it. She can do any number of tricks with it, many of them upgraded versions of her spell circles. But, some new ones come along as well. Each sphere she creates is ornate and detailed on the inside, with a slight motion going through it.
Return: A technique that allows Malisa to catch standard spells thrown at her on the end of her keyblade and sends them back like she's some sore of racquetball player.
Spell Absorption: This takes the above a step further and allows her to absorb spells thrown at her.
Typical Magiks: Through one event or another, she has learned the 10 tiers of every spell from the First Fantasy universe. Bolt-2, Ice-9, etc. 7 is the strongest most mages learn, with extremely powerful associated elements, capable of wiping out or bringing to life a small task force. 8 goes on step further, increasing the area and magnitude of these spells anywhere from ten to a hundred times more. 9 reaches an entire plane of existence and it's associated realities. 10, the most powerful and unsurpassable level, affects everything in all the planes and throughout ever parallel existence, with magnitude greater than a supernova in power. In essence, inescapable for all, even and especially the caster.
    - Stockpile: She is able to store the energy of one of these magiks into the form of a bead for future use, in which she can just will the energy back from the form of the bead into the normal form or throws it at an opponent.
Pervading Aura: A passive defensive aura that surrounds Malisa's body used to ward away elemental attacks. Lessens the strength of really any magic and not just the standardized magic like above.
Dimensional Breach: An upgrade of her reality traveling spell. It allows her to move through dimensions.

Alright, let's get my profile going.

    Name: James Thoma

Age: 224 (Magic slows down his aging by an absurd amount)

    Appearance: [IMG]

Bio: From his birth, James was born with great magical aptitude. Magic simply came easy to him. He could learn without much practice and easily overpower just about anybody he came across. From a young age he won a tournament with hundreds of combatants by himself. At about the same time he began making a name for himself, so did 10 others. All of them together quickly became known throughout the world as the invincible eleven. They were called this because that is what they were, invincible. Nobody could beat any of them, and if any of them fought each other it would end up as a draw.

In time though James went beyond them. To the ones who were called invincible, James was invincible. As time passed he was given more titles by the people of his world. The Invincible Mage, The God of Magic, The Man With No Equal, etc. And these titles are well deserved. James was able to gather up all the planets in the solar system and put them all in the same orbit to create more space as the human population continued to increase.

More time passed and it seemed as though James became more of a legend than anything. He quietly wandered alone, occasionally training people in magic before moving on elsewhere.

Personality: While he's always talked about being a mild mannered person, in reality James acts a bit cocky and always willing to fight, even though nobody has ever been able to match him.

Weapon: Anything he gets his hands on. He mostly uses magic though.

Powers: When it comes to magic, there really isn't anything he can't do. Magic that is supposed to be unique and done by one person can be done by him. He can do spells without even knowing how, simply by coping what he sees. But he does have some specific spells he uses.

Celestial Magic: He draws a design of a constellation with his fingertip, further enhancing all his strengths. When he does this, a golden aura surrounds his body. Effects vary based on the constellation he draws. The constellations he draws are The Archer, The Warrior, and The Lion.

Song Magic: In James' world, magic involving music and singing is extremely difficult. To do this type of magic, one has to have an excellent singing voice, strong magical powers, and the skill to continuously sing while focusing the magic on your target. James can do song magic while simply humming. Or singing badly.

Healing - Reality Warp: If James is somehow hurt, he doesn't even bother with actual healing magic. Instead of healing himself, it becomes as though the wound never happened. Turning something into nothing.

Five Point Ultimate Defense: A unique spell created by one of the other invincible people of James' world. It has five different parts to it all working separately from each other. The first part is a field surrounding the caster that absorbs magic that is cast by enemies. This magic is stored until it is ready to be used. The next part is another field that continually saps the strength away from enemies. The third part is an actual defensive barrier that is extremely difficult to break, more so when James is the one who casts this spell. The next part is something that forces the caster's body to immediately dodge any attack that is thrown. The final part is basically a fail-safe to the third and fourth parts. If the enemy can break through the barrier and manage to still hit the caster while the caster is dodging, this part causes the caster to counter with the exact same attack (A punch countering a punch, a fireball countering a fireball).

Anti anti magic: Not so much of an ability or spell, but essentially at one time there was an individual who was experimented on and made to be able to defeat James. Among her list of strengths and skills was an extremely powerful anti magic field that could suppress the magic of even the ones who were called invincible. Didn't stop James' magic.

Everything else magic: Me being lazy (And this being a godmod battle where we can do pretty much anything), this is here to give me an excuse to do just about any magic I can think up of during the fight.

A lone figure knelt on the barren landscape of the Desolation, clawing at the parched earth. A cloak covered the body, shielding it from a tired sun's rays. Hands grasped at the dirt, clawing a bit of the dead soul and picking it up. The figure observed this, clearly interested.

"Why?" A clearly feminine but metallic voice croaked. "Why is this world like this? In my timeline, this place was filled with life. Here in this saved timeline, it is dead. It doesn't. . . Why is this world dead? Is it dependent on the Rot's spread?"

The earth slipped through the gloved digits, settling on the ground in a puff of dust. The figure stood up to look at the nonexistent sun. This caused the hood to fall off, revealing the head of one Malisa Jals.

    The wrong Malisa Jals.

The girl who should not exist.

    >By the way, area description in your first post says the sunlight can't pass through the soot in the air.<

At a point in space not too far away from Malisa, light began to bend inwards towards the point, causing the space to look warped and drawn in towards the point. From this point a ring of energy spread outwards before fading away. A few more quickly followed. They increased in their rate of forming until it looked like an orb of energy formed from the point and expanded. When the energy faded away, what it was replaced by was a man. He too was wearing a cloak, only it was opened up and the hood wasn't covering the man's head.

The newcomer looked around his surroundings. "Well, this area isn't quite like the dimensional nexus I was thinking of. The horizon seems a bit too grey, not the black abyss I expected." The man sighed. "And here I figured I'd save the life of my adorable little pupil. Although I suppose calling him adorable now is a bit too much considering how much he's grown."

This person, James, held his hand out as though he was reaching for something. "I see now. This area has been cut off from everything else. Time doesn't have much of a meaning here. Which means that between now and when I leave will appear to be no longer than a second from where I was and where I am going. Now all I'm left wondering." James turned towards Malisa for the first time. "Who are you and why are you here?"

Malisa's interest was piqued by the sudden appearance of of another traveler. In the last three years of her life, she had only met a handful like her, always moving out. But this one was new.

Eyes with mechanical, cameralike parts to them observed him as he spoke, almost eerily lifeless in their gaze.

"Who are you and why are you here?" The stranger had asked.

    "A traveler."
Malisa had learned the dangers of identity long ago.
"And I don't know why I am here. Why would I be here when my existence should be null?"

The woman stood up, rising onto heavy feet, then hovering just barely above the ground. She circled the man, observing him from all possible angles while leaning into the motion.

"You. . . you're unique. My brother had the ability to sense aura types, and I've acquired a skill similar. You, you're special. Many I've spoke to were apprentices of one or another, but only a mere handful I could not locate the masters," She commented, stopping in front of him.

OOC: Whoops. I'll just. . . edit that bit.

"Thanks for noticing." James grinned. "After all I have been called many things that basically equate to special. The Man Who Has Surpassed Mortal Bounds. He Who Cannot Be Defeated. Born Lucky. God Of The New Era. Fun titles really. But you yourself don't appear to be much of a slouch either. After all, those aren't the eyes of a human. And I could only guess your body would make metallic noises as you walk, which would explain why you would float around me. And, if that is the case, you keep your body covered up to hide yourself from others. Not only that, but I can't quite find much of the flame that is your life. Instead of that I simply feel a couple massive sources of magical energy. So massive in fact that it almost seems like they're all one utterly gigantic source and not multiple sources."

"Enough about my observations though. You say you've encountered many apprentices. Have you encountered any of mine? Or does my observations of you make you want to attack me since it appears to me you want to keep things about you hidden? I'm actually quite fine with going a round or two for a bit. Even though I can't really be defeated, I've grown a bit of a love for seeing what others can do.

    "You're irritating."

The first two words out of her mouth since his reply reverberated in the wastes, as if the world were trying to elaborate her point. She made no movements, however, and instead continued to speak.

"I do not like it when people analyze me," She growled, her continually whirring eyes staring the man down. The witch continued, "And every apprentice that I saw died because they weren't skilled enough. Every. Last. One. None of that matters anymore, since the damage has been fixed, probably permanently. But I watched every single one die in front of me. One kid actually screamed for his master as this. . . psychotic woman reaved his eyes from his sockets. I managed to stop her, but by that point that plane was doomed to darkness and the kid bled to death."

OOC: (Reversal of fortune: I intended the Alpha Malisa to lose an eye to Lust, you know.)

    >I'm curious as to whom you changed to loose the eyes, but at the same time I'm not sure if I really want to know or not.<

"What a fun and damaged life you've led so far." James spoke very sarcastically. "Although I am curious, and I apologize in advance for this comment, as to what exactly you were doing while that poor child had his eyes gouged out. Looking at you now you don't look to be the type of person who would be held down and forced to watch as something like that were to happen. Unless of course this was before... Whatever happened to make you what you are now." James spoke as he made another analysis.

"Admittedly my curiosity stems from ignorance more than anything. I have become very detached from anybody and everybody. I quite honestly have never felt a feeling of true helplessness so I have a tendency of forgetting why somebody can't simply intervene and stop something that is occurring. In fact, if you didn't say of the damage being fixed I would most likely have asked you where all this occurred so I could go and fix it myself."

"I was busy trying not to get eaten by a lady made of goo. One second she tried to rip me apart, the next she tried to eat me alive. I still had my corruptible mortal body by that point. Back then, I would have liked to think that the psycho would have attacked me first if it weren't for his step-sister's intervention. That poor, poor girl. The whole thing was complicated, but apparently she had the same mother as that boy's brother, and the two brothers had different mothers because the other one's mother had died in childbirth. I felt sorry for them all. But not anymore."

Malisa's ruminations seemed to bring out that aspect that she had spent so long avoiding. Namely, her ramblings. She did not acknowledge this embarassedly, like she had done in the past, and instead moved ahead to address his "fixing" comment.

"I broke fundamental laws of magic to change the course of history. I'm certain nothing will go quite so wrong now, considering the Rot's influence is no more. I exist only by the luck of fate itself."

"You've certainly seen your share of tragedies." James muttered before focusing on something else Malisa said. "The Rot huh? What is that exactly? It sounds like something more than just a simple corruption and I don't believe I've ever encountered anything of the sort. My world and the nine or so other worlds that I pulled in closer to my world haven't experienced any sort of corruption like that." James looked around at the pair's surroundings. "And I am to guess that this world has been influenced by this Rot? Admittedly my first guess would be that it wouldn't because this world feels detached from the regular flow of time. Or does this Rot do that as well?"

"Worlds affected by the Rot simply just die. There is no explosion, there is no invasion. Life simply just degenerates until everything is dead. It's what happens when somebody messes with the natural order of things on a interdimensional scale. It's gone now because I prevented it."

Malisa's irritation with the stranger just seemed to rise. He was only asking simple questions and yet every question he asked was another reason for her to hate him.

"And this world seems reliant on the Rot. As the Rot takes, this one gives. I don't know. When it was consuming everything in my timeline, this world was lush and fertile."

"I see." James muttered, thinking over what she was saying. "So you condemn this place to save countless others. I suppose it could just be a form of balance for the degeneration/regeneration of life. But what else could you expect but an unexpected consequence that comes from messing with the causality of time? Of course time travel isn't something I would ever want to attempt. Me doing it properly involves cutting myself off from the rest of reality so a jump backwards wouldn't affect me as it would everything else. Not only that but I'm pretty certain there's something that has the final say in time travel and therefore might keep me stuck in limbo just because. I guess you're lucky not to have encountered her. But then again different magics lead to different results."

"Her? Who, Ultima? Cosmos? False gods, both of them. I used to believe that deities guided us until I gained this power," Malisa asked, picking up on the mention and pouncing on it like a jaguar. "But then and again, the only thing somebody like you might fear is a god. Or a demon. Tell me, what do you fear? Because, by the looks of things, it doesn't look like loneliness is on your plate anymore."

  14. Desert Warrior

"I don't know what she is. True time travel, as I am aware of it, is the equivalent of hitting the rewind button on a movie. Unless you detach yourself from reality, you also get rewound, making such time travel utterly pointless. And if you do detach yourself so you can go back in time, it is a one way trip. There's no going back to the time you were previously in. And if you could, the future would be different. And as I've heard, there's a woman who exists outside of time who has a penchant for stabbing people with a spear. I'm certain there's more to her than just that but basically she has the final say in any sort of time travel."

"Now as for that fear part, that's a good question." James spoke, thinking upon a proper answer. "Well thinking about it logically, there isn't anything I've ever needed to fear. I've never felt the fear of losing to somebody. What you say would seem true though. The only thing that could give me a reason to fear would be a god or something. Not just any god though. Something that is truly all powerful. Something that bends all of reality to its will. Something that there is no higher authority than it. But when I think about it, I can't really fear something like that only because I see no reason why something like that would interact with me and do something like making me a normal human and not what I am. So in the end if I were to actually fear anything, it would have to be death. I don't know when I'll die, or if I'll ever die, but the thought of what occurs beyond life isn't something I dwell upon."

"Then that explains why my spell was so complicated and dangerous. . . not to mention unstable," the witch muttered. From his words, she understood that this stranger feared nothing but death. She remembered had no purpose for existing. Naturally, that is when she made a decision. Something that, in the coming days, she would regret, trying to satisfy her irritation on a whim.

"You fear but one thing. Let's just see how far an anachronism can take you. . ." She growled, summoning her keyblade. It stayed in her left hand, held out defensively as her dominant hand pulled up, palm facing James. An utterance of "Deadly battue!" gave birth to a series of volleyball-sized spheres , seven in total, that arranged themselves in the shape of two conjoined diamonds in front of the witch, horizontally oriented. Each sphere projected a strange, flat shape that resembled a sluice from the side, though more fog and formless shifting in the connection between blade and sphere. From James's perspective, it would just look like lines like the slashing of a sword heading for him.

"Are you certain you'll be able to keep up?" He asked Malisa calmly as he reached the back of his head, stretching his arms and completely ignoring the attack. He pulled on his legs a little, stretching them too. As the attack reached him, James simply vanished into thin air and reappeared behind Malisa. "Sorry about that. Normally I wouldn't have dodged it but I couldn't tell if it was a bunch of blades you shot at me or a sphere. I'd rather not guess the shape incorrectly." The ground beneath James began to illuminate. Massive magic circles formed underneath him with an impressive speed. James raised his right hand into the air, energy being sucked into the palm of his hand. A ball of fire formed before floating away from his hand. Afterwards, a ball of ice. Once the ball of ice left, a ball of lightning appeared above his hand. When all three were formed James swung his arm down, each orb shooting off at Malisa and exploding the moment they came into contact with something.

Her keyblade moved like a soldier with a trench knife, aiming to stab at the three spheres. A field projected from the tip, trying to entrap them. And, for what it was worth, it did partially succeed. They did diminish in size some before they contacted the tip of the blade. An explosion still happened, knocking the metallic witch back and shredding the cloak. Her metallic body glinted in the barely adequate light. The sleek form held the keyblade with both hands now, pointing the tip downwards.

"I won't make that mistake again. . ." She growled, pouring red and blue energy down into the blade. Other energies poured off of her body, forming a spell sphere behind her back and many circles on the ground below them. Malisa grumbled, "Let's just see. . ." before pointing the blade at her foe and shouting, "Antipode bomb!"

A ball of ice and fire magic spiralled towards James, as ready to detonate as his previous spell was.

"Good to know I'm not the only copycat." James spoke with a rather smug look on his face. He reached out towards the magic shot at him. Just as it was about to hit him, James twisted his hand. This gave the appearance of the magic rolling up his arm even though it wasn't actually touching him. After this brief messing around James jumped back away from the magic and clapped his hands together. He then pulled them apart, a crystalline web having formed between his hands. He moved towards the magic again, swinging his hands at the magic as though he was trying to catch it with the substance he created between his hands. He moved his hands around Malisa's attack, surrounding the magic with more and more of the spell he was casting. When he figured he had done enough, James pushed the mass together and caused it to finally come in contact with Malisa's spell.

The ball inside detonated and the crystalline webbing that surrounded it quickly expanded. The expansion easily pushed back James' hands while still remaining contained and the explosion being unable to escape. The webbing then fell apart as though it was sand, filling the area immediately surrounding James with a fine crystalline powder that simply floated in the air. As each spore landed on the ground a crystal sprouted. They were approximately three feet in length and at least a quarter foot in thickness. Each crystal floated into the air and shot out in random directions. As they shot out, they disappeared into a portal and reappeared in different areas surrounding Malisa, all of them shooting at her.

    "Wall Bastion!"

A spell sphere, denser than most, erected itself around the mage. The swirling symbols reacted to the impacts of the crystals, pooling around the points of contact like water. The barrier held against the onslaught, thanks to its sturdiness, and was reabsorbed to conserve mana. A neat and tidy package.

The witch pointed her empty right palm out at James. A hole formed, barely a thimble in diameter. Beads began launching out at high velocity at James, rattling off at the pace of a machine gun. The beads, solid in nature, were structured so that they stayed in a nonmagical form until they were consumed, either by making contact with their target or by being swallowed by their maker. It was a trick Malisa had honed for years and stockpiled for just such an occasion. The magics stored in the beads varied from the traditional "Big Three" of the KHVerse to some spells from the FFVerse, such as Dark and Watera.

James swung his hands down as the beads neared him. A shower of lightning bolts followed, a bolt for each bead shot. The area between James and Malisa soon became filled with massive bursts of magic, ranging from fire to ice to dark masses to more explosions. As the lightning rained down, James quickly rose into the air, deciding to continue with ranged attacks for the moment. He held his hand out again. Three thick runes appeared perpendicular to his hand, looking like a triangular reticule. Three more appeared, wrapping themselves around the entirety of James' arm. Magical energy was channeled along all six of them towards a point in front of the center of the palm of James' hand. The magic collected into an orb and shot out at Malisa.

The orb, which looked to be a ball of light, stopped itself short of Malisa. Several magic circles formed themselves in random locations surrounding Malisa. More and more of them appeared while the orb shot by James simply stayed floating in front of Malisa. It was when the circles stopped appearing that the orb began another action. It burst into thousands of smaller orbs, traveling in every direction except towards Malisa. They all began bouncing off of each of the circles, the sheer number of them causing a sporadic moving pattern that would guarantee somebody stuck in the middle of all of them (Malisa) getting hit by a good number of the orbs.
