ok so in Pokemon HeartGold(i dont have B or W yet) my Lv. 100s dont have their best stats. I need help with learning how to EV train. If anyone is an expert at EV training tell me how I'm supposed to do it. what i know so far is that you need to have a lot of battles while at Lv. 98 or 99. I'm pretty sure fighting Psyducks helps increase the Special Attack stat. correct me if im wrong

Basically each pokemon is worth a certain amount of EVs. A Geodude, for instance, is worth one defense EV. For every 4 EVs gained in a stat, one point for said stat increases at level up (I believe it also works for a Lvl. 100 pokemon). Basically, if your pokemon defeats four Geodudes and levels up, the pokemon would gain one defense point.

To help with EV training, equip the pokemon with a Macho Brace. This item doubles the amount of EVs gained per battle. The status condition pokerus does the same thing (But it is random in getting, so don't count on getting it). A pokemon can get 255 (Most likely more) EVs total. The ribbon you get for your pokemon being a hard worker is gained once you've recieved the total amount of EVs.

The items such as Protien an Carbos grant the first 100 EVs in whatever stat they are meant for. There are also certain berries that reduce the number of EVs a pokemon has in a stat. Those berries are whichever ones state they lower a stat's base value.
