Ah~~ You want to write a fanfic. Awesome!

    There's a few basics to a FanFic.

First off you need to know a plot. Is the plot going to revolve around a new character or a new character?

From the plot you can create your characters and all of their details. Only after the plot is figured out.

Another important thing to keep in mind is your research. I've written various fanfics in my life time for various things. One for Kingdom Hearts, Phantom of the Opera, Ghost Whisperer, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and then of course I've done various canon RP's in my life. For each of those you have to take the time out and do the research and look into details that you may over look. So for your case you can look at what truly is a Keyblade, how does one truly gain a keyblade?

Let me give an example of you may over look. As we know from KH1 and KH2, the keyblade master/apprentice/ bearer(that's another detail you must research) has a heart of light(Sora, Riku, and Kairi) however in BBS we see differently for Master Xehanort, Vanitas, and partially Terra, they don't exactly have a heart of good deeds and light, why then do they have a keyblade?

You have to research these details, sometimes though you need to arrive at your own conclusion.

I hope these few pointers helped you out and if you have more specific questions feel free to PM/VM me :)

EDIT- Please read the rules and don't double post/bump. Give time, you don't need to post every 10 minutes till people post, people will see it and look at it. Just yeah read the rules and don't break them, kay thanks

This. You need to really understand what it is you're writing about, or you won't be able to make anyone else understand it.

When you're writing fanfiction, I think you also have to carefully plot out your story. You have to keep the characters canon, you have to have a believable plot for the world, and the fact is, I think in some ways the writer is at a disadvantage, because you're forced to work within a set of guidelines made and better understood by someone else.

Also, I think a lot of fanfiction is the same old, over and over. There's a lot of the same plot ideas being reused. And I think that, since you don't seem to have any idea what you want to write about, is something you should watch out for.

Also, for crying out loud, read the rules. Geez.
