okay. i was thinking about what i wanted to do in life and ive come to the conclusion that i want to do something in animation so i thought i'd major in computer arts when i was ready. but i dont know where to go with it like...i dont know what path/job it will give me. i know that i wont jump into a high paying lead position right out of school. i want to know from your opinion whats the school to go to or....ugh im rambling. im just afraid im going to jump into this blindly and realize i dont know what the hell im doing and woldve wasted my time.

i want to know from you guys cause i kinda value your opinion after having gotten to know some of you ^_^ And not to sound cheesy but i kinda see everyone on this site as my second family =p

There are plenty of jobs for animation but like many careers in the arts, you start small. You can either branch out to Film or Gaming. If its something you want to do, go for it and you're only 15! Send a copy of your film/reel to Pixar or somewhere like that. Brad Bird (director of The Incredibles and The Iron Giant) got discovered that way. He entered contests. Get yourself noticed!

I'd reccomend going to UAT(University of Advancing Technologies). UAT's great. I've been there in a college visit for school. If you're after computer arts, that's the place to go. I've checked some stuff out: with my high school classes, 4 years in the Air Force(in a technology-based position), and a 4-year degree in Video Game Design from UAT, I could automatically get hired as Assistant Director at a video game company. And, since I already have previous experience with designing video games, I could probably get into a Lead Director position. I dunno if you had any plans in particular, but I'd definatley check out UAT.

The University of Wisconsin system is pretty nice. You can start out in a two year school and get your Associates Degree. GET THAT DEGREE BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! I do that in all caps because I can't stress it enough. It covers all of your basic math, science, social, and english credits right away. Not only that but it looks extremely good on a resume. Next make use of the UW Guaranteed Transfer Program. Essentially if you sign into another college before you achieve thirty credits you are bumped to the top of the entry list and the requirements go down. 2.5 becomes 2.0 and some other things are different to. I recommend Stout because it's were I am going.

After that you will have to go in a time were you simply won't get hired. Sorry but the programing and computer design world is full of jobs but also full of people looking for those jobs. Free lance a bit, do design for some flash games and do other stuff. Eventually you will be able to build up enough examples to stick in your resume that it won't be hard to get a job in that field. Be patient Black Rose cause everything takes time.
