    Hey i just Enlisted for the US Navy though im only in a DEP ( delayed entery program) position, because i have to finish high school. I have sighned on for 8 years of service as a culinary specialist (chief) i will have 4 years active duty and 4 years reserve. If your thinking about joining the military as well make it known! I thought we should have a thread on this because its interesting to see peoples views. even if your in a different country!!!!;)

    I am very pro-miliatary. I wouldn't even pass the fitness exam though. I am near-sighted. I admire those that do join up and serve.

    First off, congrats. One of the greatest decisions in life. Now, as for me, when I turn 18 I want my birthday present to be a free trip to basic training.

    I'll never be in the military, as I can not be drafted nor can I enlist. As a Type I Diabetic, I'm not eligable for service. I probably wouldn't join anyway though. I have no wish to fight.

    That being said, I have the greatest of respect for the military. My hat is off to anyone who is brave enough to serve, something I could never do, medical DQ aside. FOr anyone who is active or planning to join, bravo, take care, and thanks.

    I was going to join to army to pay for my post-secondary ed. a few years back. Decided not to; I'm too blind anyway.

    I was going to join the Marines but they wouldnt accept me because i had surgery, so now im gonna try the Army and National Guard

    I was considering going to the army for a little while to get money for education...but I wound up getting some scholarships and student loans instead so I decided against it.
