Dragon Ball Z was a little perverted, or atleast Grandpa Gohan was O.O... But compared to some anime these days it was not that perverted at all... Maybe the anime creatures now believe it will draw more attention to the anime if the lead girls wear more provocative clothing or they might think it adds flare to it all... They may also find that it makes the anime more appealing too but I can't be sure >.<, but I think they should tone it down v.v

 

Simple answer.
Sex (or in this case, soft hentai) Sells.
Also it's beginning to become a trend these days =\

 

Well parents have the decision of controlling what their kids are watching as well.
That's what ratings are for =P

In my opinion, the young generation are more understanding of this topic (sex) these days. It's very common these days and not only portrayed in animes.

 

Japan is like sex centre. I mean sex sells. Look at Sailor Moon. The US version was rated, but when I bought the Japanee Copy, it wasn't and I say things. That is why most anime shows in the us are cancel or push on to a later time, so young kids can't watch it.

 

A marketing technique based on target audiences. If the target audience is for younger teen boys, there will be a certain level of fanservice. As the target audience age goes up, so does the extremity and amount of fanservice.

There's also stuff with plenty of fanservice targeted for girls; Junjou Romantica and Gravitation are two titles that come to mind within seconds.

For the times where the fanservice seems almost COMPLETELY unnecessary and just thrown in despite the genre - Arguably, you could say it's what the author finds appealing. As disturbing as it may sound to the reader, sometimes the author can use their characters to live out their fantasy, so having the said character get involved in many perverse situations is what gets the author... er... do I have to say it?

Anyway, I think the reason just all comes down to the way we think. Sex is a large part of our primitive and current nature. If an author can successfully tap into that nature, then it'll sell like hotcakes.

 

there are some anime that doesnt have that much pervy concepts in it. imo, anime which has a storyline closer to that of a harem is usually the most peverted. i think: perv main character--> perv story--> comedy ensues and thats the way the audience seems to like it. As for me, i prefer anime without that.

there are some really good anime without having to be perverted that are really awesome. you just have to be willing to look for them

Japan is full of nerds. And these nerds are closet pervs (I honestly don't know if this is true or not. But it sounds kinda like it's true).

But sometime these things can be funny. Watch the anime Shuffle!. It is funny (But be warned. It shows a little nudity).

 

I went to Japan and EVERYWHERE was porn. I went to a freaking grocery store with my host family and I walked by toys and edible stuff. And you can buy hentai and porn at freaking train stations. It's funny but after walking into porn stores on accident more than a few times, it got a bit old.

 

Basically. lol. But they all seem so modest!!!!!!!!!!

well because no other country makes that stuff that's why! well....they do but not in the quantities Japan does.

well...i'm not completly sure of that but i am sure that they do export that stuff. and i really, REALLY doubt ppl'll go on strike for that.
