Instead of Spamming the Obama Thread how about we discuss over different views here. It is such a better space than spamming up Obama Thread.

Here is what I believe in.

Gay Marriage and Gay People. Why? Cause they are human beings too! We are all the same. Just because someone is different why hate them?

Cloning: It is fascinating. If one of my kidneys are mess up, then I won't have to wait for a donor for any organ cause my organs are already cloned! It is amazing what science can come up with!

Stem Cell Research: For medical purposes. If someone can find a cure for any deadly disease then I am all for it.

Abortion: I am neutral on this topic. I am not a female so I don't what goes on with in the situation. It varies.

I have basicly the same views, exacept I prefer that for stem cell research they do it a different way and somehow clone the embryo and study that.

Cloning, it's not all that great, I though the samething as you yukou, but my bio had explained to me all the animal clones we had died of mediacal reasons, meaning sure an organ would be great, but who knows how long the new one will last it could posssibly only give you a few more days, plus you have to wait for a clone to grow up closer to yoru age so the organ is aged enough before you can have it transplanted for all you know by the time you wait you could die or the clone will die.

Now for abortion I think it's wrong. If a women does not want to have kids they should have never had sex without taking birth control or something so they won't get pregnant. Now I found this cute little story thing about abortion when I find it again, I'll post it.

Gay Marriage and Gay People: Don't care.

    Cloning: Hmm.... Another me.....

Stem Cell Research: For Adult Stem Cell Research, but against Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Embryonic stem cells have shown to cause tumors and cancer, so further research with them is pointless. And adult stem cells have been proving to be better than previously thought.

Abortion: Against it. There are other, smarter options that could be taken.

  4. Goldfish

    Goldfish Cats in the Cradle

Gay Marriage and Gay People: Is it that big of a deal? I really couldn't care less. Some of my mates are (both sexes) and they're pretty cool. I tend to look over the fact of their orientation and just see them as friends because I really don't care about another's sex life.

Cloning: Perfect it first, we don't want want them to die as quickly. They could be used inhumanely for labour if you look over the Moral Issues and such.
We could also clone livestock for meat or clone fruits and vegetables for more produce to maybe even eliminate world hunger but again, perfect it first.

Stem Cell Research: Adult Stem Cell research should be researched further, embryonic seems kind of pointless with similar reason as DW. Could become life savers and cure abnormalities like Parkinsons Disease.

Abortion: I Haven't really involved my self much with abortion topics in places. Most likely against it but probably would allow it if it is done within the first "x" weeks before the cells form an embryo for a potential healthy child.

  5. Gay People and Gay Marriage: I don't like it but I don't care.

Cloning: Perfect it first. Cloning organs, meat, or vegetables is something as a politician that I will make a priority. As for cloning humans, well it depends on how it's done. I only want cloning humans for a good reason.

Stem Cell Research: Ban embryonic stem cell research and focus on adult stem cell research. That is the best and most moral way to go.

Abortion: I think my view on this is pretty clear. It's murder and it's savage. I will fight for the rest of my life until abortion is illegal and it can never be overturned by anyone for as long as the United States of America exist. I believe in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness. All unborn babies from the moment of conception will be considered children and will be given life. I will make sure of that.

  6. Avalantos

    Avalantos Mr. Detective

Gay Marriage and Gay People: I wouldn't but don't want to be told I cant.

    Cloning: Go for it.

    Stem Go for it.

Abortion: I wouldn't but don't want to be told I cant.

Also, I think people should not mix religion in important decisions like politics or science.

There is nothing wrong with mixing religion with politics and stuff. What is wrong is when people take it to the extreme.

And what's wrong with religion being with politics? It stops the flow of Communism.

Gay Marriage and Gay People: I dont care at all. Its HARDLY a pressing matter.

Cloning: Awesome. Although I have an irrational fear that my clone would try to kill me and take over my life or something.

Stem Cell Research: Sounds like a pretty good idea. A cure for many to most diseases.... im sold.

Abortion: Im not a woman, I have no uterus, I have no decision in the matter unless its my baby in that uterus and if it is then ill just discuss the issue with the person. Its not a decision that should be made in congress.

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

Gays: I don't hate them, but I don't want them to spread AidS & other terrible viruses & I also worried about their life after this earthly life.

Abortion: IT's best that I stay out of this one.

Cloning: EW & EVIL! I don't want another me! I don't want it to even kill me! Then it'll be manipulating pple & act like something that I never do!

Stem cell research: I'm definitely going to stay out of this subject.

Gay marriage: Completely disagree with it. It is Scripturally proven to be immoral. Even those who don’t believe in Scripture recognize that it is wrong on a fundamental level…
however, this is not to say that I hate the people who do choose such a path. I am actually quite angered with some of the people who bring shame to the Lord by declaring their hatred against those who have homosexual tendencies…The choice should be available, in my opinion, even if it is not the right choice to make.

Cloning: I think that it could have some useful applications, but I also think that it is immoral, and thus disagree with it. If someone needs a new kidney, pray for healing!! People run to science like it’s God. Gentle news flash—science is not God, despite the fact that people do worship it. [I can explain this more fully if my meaning isn’t clear.]

Stem Cell Research: Their method is immoral. I don’t see research as a bad thing (for the most part) if it isn’t hurting anyone. This is. I agree with Twilight Keyblade.

Abortion: I also think that, like Twilight Keyblade, my views are very clear on this.
It’s murder, it’s immoral—simple as that. My views are more elaborately expressed on the abortion thread.

When there are ethical concerns involved, science has no voice. Science has no ability to classify anything as moral or immoral. Therefore, how can it be determined with science alone?

Besides, religion is a core aspect of world view…our basic presuppositions about the universe…and it is going to influence how we answer the above questions. (Sorry for the lack of eloquence in this part.)

Gays: They're just like you and me. No big deal.

Abortion: Whatevs. I'm not a woman so I'm not going to dicate what a woman can and can't do with her uterus.

But is it murder? I don't think it really matters. There are much worse things going on in the world.

Cloning: Not evil. Not disgusting. It's an impressive scientific feat, but it isn't fantastic and in all honesty we don't really need it.

Stem cell research: It is very beneficial to those who wish to 1) have babies, 2) get their babies recovered from an illness, and many others. They have their benefits, such as in the dairy and beef industry. I often get annoyed with individuals who say "NO!" for this with humans, but know nothing about it when it comes to animals. Just the American-esque mind-set that is taking hold in the world I guess.

In all honesty, I don't care about any of these. They aren't very relevant to most of the worst things in the world today. What we all need over everything is 1) a place to live, 2) food & water, etc. Whether cloning/abortion/etc are immoral or not, who cares? It's people controlling people. Pretty self-explanatory.

You know I enjoy science. It is fundamental and fact. Fact. I can't wait for healing. It is a waste of my time. I don't want to sit in bed all day and pray that I can get over the sickness.

Science is my passion and it is the explanation for life.

I wouldn't mind to play God for once. Cloning and stem cells have so many benefits that it outweigh the religion aspects.

Gay': I'm 150% pro homosexual. And your more likely to receive AIDS from a needle and women. I think if its what they want and they love that male/women, go for it.

    Abortion: Intirly circumstansul.

Cloning: Go for it. Could be used as organ and blood donor's.

SCR: Go for it. Could be a medical breakthrough.

I never said that science was necessarily a bad thing. Please don’t misunderstand me.

As for the healing…God is the Healer. There are thousands of people who have been miraculously healed. Just going to put that out there. If you consider it to be a waste of your time it’s because you don’t believe in Him. You don’t expect that He’ll heal you, or that He could heal you if He chose to do so. So…why should He?

And I don’t sit in my bed all day and pray that I’ll get better. If I am sick (which is extremely rare, btw), I ask Him to heal me, and I believe that He will do it if He is willing. He hears and answers prayer. My life is a testimony to this truth.

In regards to “playing God:” you make this concept out to be like an easy game. God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. I’ll play along with your fantasy so you can see just why it would fail horrendously. Ok, so…hypothetically speaking…you are omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. You can do whatever you want—you have all knowledge to do such things as cloning, all the power to apply that knowledge, and you can be everywhere at once (so you could apply that knowledge instantly anywhere/everywhere).

Before I explain myself any more, I’d like to ask you: why do you think this might be a problem (or do you think this would be a problem)?

Right. Because it was once scientific fact that there was no such thing as an atom. Science isn't nesesscarily fact. People say it's true until it's refuted. Science is just an attempt to explain things. People should never ever trust in science 100%.

There are few things that people CAN trust one hundred percent in. To some though, science is just as valuable as, or a replacement for, faith. And so you trust in what you believe, there's nothing wrong with that.

...You know, to believe in God takes faith, and to place trust in science also takes faith. There are 2 (well, 3, but for the purposes of my point I'm only putting two) underlying presuppositions to/for scientific study:

    1) Nature operates according to a set of rules, and
    2) People are capable of discovering what these rules are by experimentation and mathematical calculation.

There are repercussions of not having faith in God if one pursues scientific knowledge...this is simply because it doesn't make logical sense that nature would operate according to a set of rules. And of course there is no reason why people should think themselves capable of discovering these rules in the first place...

basically my point is that these are biblical foundations. Only slightly ironic. But I digress and come back to my original point: both take faith...both require a greater or lesser degree of trust.

As a last side note, in science you can never 100% prove anything correct, but you can prove things to be incorrect. (One of my professors, Dr. Clements, told me this.)

Loved your post Waterfall, very well spoken, and true, except I'm going to be pedantic here:

It is much easier to prove things false than true...this goes for Mathematics as well as the Scientific Method. For instance, can you prove 2 + 2 = 4? It's rather difficult...

    But if I wanted to prove 2 + 2 =/= 5, I could say "If 2 + 2 = 5, then 2 + 2 + 2 = 7. But we know 2 + 2 + 2 = 6, and 6 =/= 7...which is a contradiction. So your professor was definitely telling the truth....however...

An amendment to the quoted text: Nothing can ever really be proven incorrect either. When your professor said this, he was operating under the assumption that Math and Science are the system of analysis.

"Under the rules and assumptions in place, which we currently use for Math and Science, this can not be true." But this is a very important distinction to be made. If the rules change, even slightly, then what was previously impossible may very well be possible if seen in a new light.
