In the past, there have been role play competition events held here, most notably the Role Player of the Week contests. It seems that there might be just enough activity around here to bring back some of these events.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Who is in on it? Is it worth it? What sort of contests should we hold?

Let me know what ya'll think.

Well give me your ideas that we could use for this?

Right now, my ideas are favorable to running something to the effect of a Survivor style contest. Basically, taking a cast of RPers (probably six to eight, if we can even get that many) who partake in various challenges (basically, mini-RPs) and vote their weakest link out after each challenge is complete (or, perhaps more effectively, have a panel of judges, if possible, to perform such an act).

I'm in for this. As a judge or person involved in it.

I don't know if you've noticed, but we've only got like. . . 4 constant RPers, tops. Eveybody else either does it on a much slower basis, or not at all - myself included.

I'm aware of this. And maybe we will have to start with something on a smaller scale. But I like to think that, given some incentive beyond just playing out a story, people will at least put in the time for a contest.

  8. I'm interested in this. I'm willing to help devise contests and such if you'd like, otherwise you can count me in as a participant.

I'd be glad to have involved bro. Anyways, realistically, I'm thinking that this will take a little more planning and waiting for such a time that the forums will (hopefully) be a little more active, enough so that the we can actually have a cast. In the mean time, it'd be good to try and figure out how the process of conducting this would have to work.

So is anyone actually up to at least try and come up with a skeleton plan?

  11. I will. I'll post it to this thread when it's done, should be either late tonight or tomorrow.

  12. So I tried to make three different skeletons so far, but all have failed due to organization issues. I have a lot of good ideas for this, I just have to figure out the structure. I'll try to produce something in the next couple days.

Just post them up bro. We're here to figure things out.

As for my own personal idea, as I've already said, I'd like to do something to the effect of "Survivor" or History Channel's "Top Shot" sort of format.

Basically, people would sign up for it, and if necessary, we would have the character sign-ups count as an audition into the contest (or just do first come first serve).

Then, with between six and eight RPers, we'd set challenges, which would be in the format of scenes or events that they'd have to role play through.

Following a set time frame (or number of posts) we'd go through some sort of process to eliminate a contestant following each challenge.

All but the first step to the process would be repeated until only one person was left following a final challenge with in a one-on-one setting.
