Star Wars in 3D

Anyone hear about this? I was wondering what you fans out there thought about it.

Apparently, Lucas is going to release all six Star Wars movies in 3D, starting with Episode I, once a year beginning in 2012.

To be honest, I think 3D is a lame gimmick anyhow, but if he'd started with the originals, I'd be mighty tempted to go see them, since I wasn't alive back when they were first shown in theaters, and I think it'd be cool to see them on a big screen. I'm not a hater of the prequels, like so many seem to be, but I have to say that I don't feel much desire to pay to go see them. And it'll be 2015 now before the originals will be re-released, by which time I'll probably have forgotten about it, if the world hasn't already ended. XD

    Thoughts?

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

seeing as the only copies i have are VHS of the movies(yeah, never bothered getting DVDs of them or nothing) i don't care to go see them in theaters, even with a 3D gimmick. on the other hand, once the DVDs/Blu-Rays of the 3D versions come out, i think i'll trade in my VHS copies for the upgraded versions.

so to be clear, i won't go see them but i will buy them.

No idea if i would go see them, but i think it would awesome if he started with the originals, then the prequels.I think you would get more out of it if you started that way, though thats just me.

However,I might not see them anyways just because they are 3D.Im fine with them without 3D,and can watch all of them already anyways (three VHS,three DVDs.)

    Don't you mean re-re-re-released? I think that's enough re's.

Anyways, I was talking to one of my friends about this. He thinks that they would have to refilm each movie or it will fail, using such old filming techniques in 3D.

Yeah, I'm a little worried about the quality of this 3D. This year has had its share of shitty 3D conversions, and those movies weren't filmed 30 years ago. But perhaps, in the next few years, the technology will improve.

    My mistake. XD

I wonder if Lucas will add or change anything else about the movies when this gets going.

star Wars is ok i didnt like the originals so much but i dont know why everyone bahses the prequels

i mean they had action drama suspence and LIGHTSABER FIGHTS what more could you want. the old ones i can see how they used to like them but their outdated now with the new ones. also there were times nothing happened. especially the yoda parts.

but maybe in 3D all of them will be so cool. i saw avatar it was great and toy story worked. but yea i see what you all are saying. if they werent made for 3d it might not work so well like it might look flat but popping out like a pop up book. i dont know how theyll make it work but the prequels had great special effects in their time so they can do anything. i just hope they cut out some of the fatty parts because if theres no action no real point to the 3d. i mean in avatar it was not all action so maybe htey could insert some scenes that are as fun to watch. i did like the cloud planet and seeing it pop out at u would be so cool.

I'll admit I could do with a little less of Anakin's angsting, but I don't think it's a very good idea for them to cut out portions of any of the movies. The "fatty parts" are probably the character developing scenes, and it's never a good idea to skimp on the character development (even if the characters might not be so likeable *coughjarjarcough*).

And then that'll just open it up for purists to start bitching about the changes.

Good acting? Dialogue that isn't ridiculous?

Starwars 3D, I really don't care for 3D but star wars was decent enough.

I would like there still to be the non-action scenes.Afterall, lightsaber battles are cool, but just that wouldnt hold peoples attention.Yoda was a popular character before he ever fought with a lightsaber as is,wouldnt want him to be cut out.

And yea, purists will say ruined FOREVER!!! if they cut out anything.Or add anything in.Probably for being in 3D at all.But either way,I like Star Wars, but that doesnt mean I will see them in 3D.

Purists already think that the series is ruined forever. Haven't you heard of the hard-core fans who only watch the original release of the original trilogy? They don't even watch the remastered DVD version.
