This section needs more threads. And so, here's one about status ailments. We all know they suck, no matter which FF you're playing, but which ones do you hate the most, and why? Share a frustrating story, if you have one. ^_^

Here is a list of all the ones I can think of, but I'm sure I'll forget a ton. In no particular order (and not all are in every game):

*Berserk (could be good or bad)
    *Confuse
    *Poison
    *Blind/Darkness
    *Sleep
    *Doom
    *Frog
    *Petrify
    *Curse
    *Zombie
    *Sap
    *Fury
    *Sadness
    *Slow
    *Stop
    *Silence
    *Disease
    *Small
    *Freeze
    *Heat

I especially hate confuse, berserk, and frog.

Confuse is just plain irritating. I really love it when I tell one of my characters to do something that will wipe out all of the enemies, then, before s/he gets a turn, that character gets confused, and proceeds to use the kill move on his own teammates. Or, better yet, when my confused character goes and uses a very rare item or (in FF VIII) casts a harder to find magic spell that I just spent two hours drawing from some damn boss. And confuse is usually that status ailment that I never have the right curative items or preventative accessories for when I need them. <_<

I hate Berserk because I don't enjoy losing control of my characters. S/he may be stronger, but it does me no good if the rest of my party is dead and this character has critical health and no way to cure.

Frog in VII was a nuisance. I'd waste an item and cure a character, only to have the next frog turn around and cast Frog Song or jab my character all over again. This wasn't a major problem, since I really didn't fight frogs that much, but it was still really annoying when I did have to.

Disease, frog and sleep was annoying. When I'm about to attack, poof. My character is snoring. Even when I fight in the Battle arena on FFVII, I have frog cast on me and it gets annoying but even more annoying once my items and accessories are sealed. Disease in FFXII is just evil. Just makes it a sure-fast way to die.

There's another one that I'm thinking of, but I can't remember the name. In FF IX, some of the bosses (and some random monsters) would use it, and it would stop you from gaining EXP and AP. I'm thinking it was called virus? Eh, anyway, it sucked to go through a whole battle (and probably a tough one), then at the last minute get virused and lose out on all of the rewards.

Confuse is the devil. Especially when done by a Great Marlbro that amushed you and used Bad Breath.

Disease in XII was annoying. Especially when combined with Sap or Poison.

Frog is annoying in the DS remake of III, but it is needed to progress through certain parts of the story.

If you could move around when in Berserk status in XII, then I'd use it more. So useful when combined with Bravery and Haste.

You should add Malboro or the Great Malboro as a status ailment even if it is a monster because it's more of a status ailment then any other, especially in FFVIII and FFVII.

^ do not get. Malboro is just a monster which causes them.
    ______________

Anything which prevents me from using that character will annoy. Berserk, Confuse, Sleep, Petrify etc.
Berserk is somewhat beneficial, I kind of like it but once my characters hit the max damage, it becomes useless and not needed. Sometimes sleep can be a pain, magic damage does not wake your characters, and Petrify, I just dislike wasting a turn to cure this with an item or magic but that goes with all of the status ailments I guess.

And if you think it counts. "critical" could be added there.

No, I don't think so. "Malboro" is not a status ailment, though feel free to complain about them and the lovely ailments they do use in this thread.

This was annoying in X, with those fungus-type creatures. They'd put my whole party to sleep, then cast fire until Game Over. v_v

    Beserk. . Hate

Confuse. . . Hate even more

Zombie is a megabitch. All of a sudden, my characters get it and I accidentally cast heal. . . ouch.
