Story, anyone?

Okay, guys. I need some help. I don't have a PSP, so I've never played BBS. Well, I've resorted to the Internet to get the rundown on the story. That didn't end well. From what I've seen, it's confusing as hell. Is there any possible way to give me a not-confusing rundown of this game? Anyone, please? I really need to know the backstory of this game before I get Dream Drop Distance on my 3DS.

 

No. The only way it won't be confusing is if you keep on thinking over it and start to understand it. Which, by the way, is much easier if you play the game. Just watch some playthroughs on YouTube (In a language you can understand, obviously). That should help you get the grasp of the plot. Although, admittedly, the overall plot isn't influenced much by the plot of each individual world (Obvious exceptions include any world where you see Master Xehanort or Vanitas).

 

I agree with Desert, the story honestly isn't really confusing, it's all the same story just told from different points of view (Aqua's, Terra's, and Ven's point of view). All the story's end the same, which I'm not gonna post here cuz there may be people on the site who haven't played the game yet and don't want the ending spoiled. I also suggest watching the playthroughs or walkthroughs on Youtube also, not just the cutscenes but the actual battles as well of all three characters. Honestly I don't think the order of the characters matter (though I've heard it makes more sense to play the game with Ven, then Aqua, and finally Terra) it all ends the same so it shouldn't matter who's story you see first.

 

PSPs are really cheap now. In Canada, they're $50! Or, you can wait until the Vita comes out, which is Spring 2012.

 

Well, it is all about before Kingdom Hearts, and it follows Ven, Terra and Aqua.
It begins in the Land of Departure.. where three Keyblade wielders and close friends—Terra, Aqua, and Ventus—train to become Keyblade Masters under Master Eraqus.
Afterward, a group of mysterious creatures called the Unversed begin to surface in other worlds, and another Keyblade Master, Xehanort, disappears without a trace. Terra is sent to destroy the Unversed and find Master Xehanort, who had earlier encouraged him to embrace the darkness in his heart if he desires the strength to become a Keyblade master. Ven, meanwhile, is goaded into following Terra by Xehanort's mysterious apprentice Vanitas, against Eraqus's wishes. Aqua is dispatched by Eraqus to survey Terra and keep him from falling into darkness, as well as to bring Ventus back to the Land of Departure.
Upon they arrive in other worlds, Terra, Aqua, and Ventus encounter various Disney characters, new and old, fighting off hordes of Unversed along the way. The well-known characters they meet is Mickey Mouse, apprentice of the sorcerer Yen Sid, who is also on a mission to destroy the Unversed.

 

Thanks, everyone! I had read an interview with the creative force behind Kingdom Hearts, and he said that BBS was the next big plot advancement in the story. I already beat Re:Coded, and it mentioned the events of BBS in the secret ending. So, I figured that DDD on the 3DS will mention it a lot. That's why I needed the story. Anyway, I'll hit up YouTube.
