This title is supposed to be the best tales title to date. and from what i see it is. however how do you guys thinks it matches up to titles like Tales of the abyss

No there isn't a North American release date yet. I think it'll be quite interesting because it'll be for the Wii. I heard that the battle system is good. And as for Tales of Abyss I think this one will be better.

I've only played Tales of Phantasia (I think it's part of the series), I enjoyed quite a lot actually. Holding traditional RPG elements with a pretty cool RT battle system. It was kind of a like a Beat em' Up.
As for Tales of Garcia (I'm doing a quick search on it now) looks kind of different (mainly the 3D). The Map Environment reminds me of Star Ocean: Till the end of Time (the way you run into Monsters to battle), and the battle system as well (kind of). The game changing from 2D to 3D is shocking to me, though I guess everything will be 3D these days.
Watching the Game play makes me want to play this game for a while. If I had a Wii, I'd buy it (if it is to be released outside of Japan, so couldn't find the release date for an outside of Japan)

Well the JPN release date compared to NA release dates are usually 3-4 months off So if they release in Jan we can look forward to at least March or april

Considering english VA's and translations etc.
